Elks 797 Golf Club

About
The 797 Elks Golf Club, formerly known as Quail Lakes Golf Course, has changed more than its name since first opening in 1961. When the course was up for sale in the 1980s, the trustees of the adjacent Elks 797 Lodge purchased the property in order to keep a public golf course for the community. The front nine was created well before the back nine was completed. Although the two nines provide a vastly different look and feel, they provide plenty of variety that manages to meld seamlessly into a great round. The ever-changing landscape adds to the course's diversity. Mature trees and tall grasses line the fairways, making accuracy essential, and you'll also find strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. There are definitely some challenges in store but with careful course management, you'll be rewarded with some birdie opportunities.

Extremely Disappointed
I booked a Hot Deal to play this course on Tuesday April 1, 2025. I booked it the night before for 18 holes, riding. I had a liver transplant last year and I am in need of a handicap cart. I got to the course and there was a sign in the door saying there would be no carts that day because it was too wet. I stood at the counter for nearly 10 minutes and no one came over to speak to me, I couldn’t find anyone to help me because it’s also a bar and restaurant and the check in was supposed to be online. When I called GolfNow all I could get was an animated voice telling me that I couldn’t cancel with less than an hour notice. I feel taken advantage of and that I deserve a full refund. The course didn’t live up to what I booked, and GolfNow didn’t let me cancel the booking. I am extremely upset. It’s not about the money, it’s about the principle.
Nice Course for Wilmington
Didn’t have very high expectations for a course in Wilmington but was very pleasantly surprised. 1/3rd of the greens had rough spots but the weathers been a little rough this summer so I’m not gonna hold it to the course too much, but it would be nice to see a little more effort on that front.
Holes are fun, carts are quick. Fairways aren’t really patterned like normal fairways so sometimes it feels like I’m hitting into the rough blindly. Gravel cart paths, which is fine. Overall I enjoyed it and will come back.
Course is in terrible shape never taken care of I only play it to get some swings in if it is cheap or I would not play it.
Value for the money
So the course was a little dry. But most of the local courses that I've played in this area this summer have been super dry due to the lack of rain that we've had this year so it really didn't affect anything in a negative way. The greens were good for the most part. The course layout was fun to play. The young lady working at the pro shop was very nice when I was checking in to play. All th course needs is a little rain. Great value to play 18. I'll definitely return to play another round in the near future.
Very nice place to play
Very friendly and easy course .super beginner friendly.
Should be ashamed
The ownership and course superintendent should be embarrassed at the course condition.
Slow and not enough spacd
Course is not big enough for 18 holes. Balls almost hit us multiple times from other holes. Pace of play was also very slow. Greens were in horrible condition and the fairways and rough were basically the same.
Elks 797 Golf Course
The course was very dry and ground was like cement. Needs a lot of water and some good rain. Greens need some TLC. Supertindent is trying but the course needs a lot of rain and watering.
Fun on the course
My Stepson really appreciated the water stations and the course was nice.
Elks 797 Golf course
Needs some rain. Greens were slow and spotty. Needs some more work to the greens.
Elks 797 Golf Course
Fairways are getting better and they are doing a lot of work to the greens.
Good place to play/practice
The place is great with friendly helpful staff. It's not as big as other courses its compact. But it has a great range and probably the biggest chipping/ putting green around.
