About
The 797 Elks Golf Club, formerly known as Quail Lakes Golf Course, has changed more than its name since first opening in 1961. When the course was up for sale in the 1980s, the trustees of the adjacent Elks 797 Lodge purchased the property in order to keep a public golf course for the community. The front nine was created well before the back nine was completed. Although the two nines provide a vastly different look and feel, they provide plenty of variety that manages to meld seamlessly into a great round. The ever-changing landscape adds to the course's diversity. Mature trees and tall grasses line the fairways, making accuracy essential, and you'll also find strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. There are definitely some challenges in store but with careful course management, you'll be rewarded with some birdie opportunities.

I like this course.
Greens were not in great shape. The rough was very thick, and the grass was too long.
Mixed emotions
Before I’m a bit harsh to this course I will say this is a very easy course and I would recommend for beginner golfers. It’s very short and flat. Greens are slow. For beginners I would recommend this course to some of the harder courses around this area. If you are advanced golfer and are under a 10 handicap this isn’t for you. My tee time was at 12 and I had to wait for a cart to come in before I could start. Once I waited 10 minutes for someone to finish their round and take their cart there was 3 groups of 4, a solo with kids, and an elderly couple all waiting to tee off of one. I usually finish a round in 2-2 1/2 hours if I’m not waiting on people. It took me nearly 5 hours as a solo to finish. It was pointless to let me play through because of how backed up the course was. Maybe it was a busy day? Who knows. After my round I was hungry and wanted a drink so I went to the bar and sat there for a few minutes and didn’t get acknowledged at all by staff. I just got up and left. Like I said I would recommend for beginners or not advanced golfers but not experienced or fast paced golfers but I will not be returning.

Elks 797 golf
I liked the way the course was maintained, short roughs especially. Only lost one ball and that was in the water on hole # 5.

You booked a tee time for a closed course:(
Arrived at the course to play and found out it was closed due to an outing. Staff was friendly and the manager informed me Golfnow had been informed a closing. Attempted to cancel for refund. Multiple calls get me to no one and route me back to cancellation on the reservation tab. Hopefully you read this and refund as you should. Otherwise this was a poor experience!
Ok course, not well maintained good for practice and outings
Flat course hard to follow most signs broken and online view of holes is not accurate. You guess your way around the course. Not the worst ever played but will not return.

Great day on a great
Been passing this course for years and finally booked a round. Very pleasantly surprised. Very mature golf in excellent condition. The greens were soft enough to receive approach shots but still fast to putt on. The only thing better than the course was the friendly hospitality of the staff. Will definitely play again
