New York Country Club

NYCC is a great go-to local course. It’s green are difficult, tees are challenging and the distance to the green makes it a competitive game.

Recently played there and was pleasantly surprised with the course conditions (especially in April in NY). The course layout was challenging and fun with some non-conventional holes due to its hilly landscape. What I appreciated the most was the pace of play (4 hour round) and how friendly the staff was. I would certainly say this is the best experience within an hour from NYC and would highly recommend this to anyone.

Was cold and windy but managed to complete the round. Course in good shape considering the winter we had. Greens are in okay shape shape but again due to the weather. Freezing and playing but it’s still golf.

Played this course for the first time. Found a hot deal on GolfNow. Well worth it, course has decent layouts and has wide open fairways. Even though at times I did not find the right fairway. The 9th hole is really challenging, it is a low tee box with the green at the top of the mountain. Due to it being early in the season, I did not like that the grill for food closed early, we teed off at 2:40 and by 4:30 you could not get food. A bit disappointing, but overall, a course I would play again. Not sure it is worth the hefty price tag to play had it not been for the hot deal I mentioned earlier. Usually, this course is closer to $100 a round.

We had a reservation for an 11:50 tee time and departed from Bayside, New York at 9:50. We received a text message canceling our tour while crossing the Washington Bridge. The time was 10:36. Such a rude cancellation is unacceptable. We strongly protest to the golf course for ruining our day at such a crucial time. Your financial business is important, but our precious time is equally important.

Course was great (recently plugged greens and they still rolled fast and tried).

The staff were all very welcoming and accommodating!

8.5/10 course experience. Only reason for taking points away is because neighborhood kids were loose on the course and presented both a safety hazard to themselves as well as took me and one of my playing partners balls out of play, and seemed to be collecting them in a large container on the course. The main concern is the safety hazard and liability this poses to golfers playing on the course, and I would expect that for this price the course would invest in deterrent measures to increase both the safety and playability of the course. Otherwise wonderful course and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Also wish the range wasn’t irons only but such is life.

I want to report a serious safety concern. Near the 14th or 15th hole( not sure exact hole), children from a nearby house were batting baseballs toward the fairway. One of the balls flew onto the course and nearly hit a golfer.

This is extremely dangerous and could lead to a serious accident. I hope the course management will look into this matter and work with the nearby residents to ensure everyone’s safety. Golfers and neighbors should feel safe at all times.

The course is beautiful, but safety needs more attention.

NYCC was a pleasant surprise. I have been living and playing golf in the NYC metro area for 30 years and just discovered this place. I guess because of the name I thought it was a private club. My friend got us a tee time late afternoon in October and a wet, misty day, knowing we would likely miss the last several holes, but since it was a low fee, we went.

Overall, an excellent experience, which the course itself determined...

The staff did not help much....showed up to clubhouse-- most of the staff kind of acted like they would rather do anything else but work there...barely acknowledged us, we had to ask- is there a range? How do we get the carts?- "Oh go ask some guy down there..." Noone to direct us..I think they hired a bunch of teenagers who have had no training in customer service or manners...

Luckily the guys we were playing with had played there a few times and helped.

The driving range is meh- irons only with mats...just 2 flags-- around 90 yards & 130 yards...

Now-- once we hit the 1st tee- whole mood changed-- wow what a classic setup-- fairways, bunkers are pristine. Some absolutely gem holes. As I was playing- i started thinking- this is one of the best layouts for public play in the region... pace of play was good- a few short waits, but nothing bad. greens were a little beat up, but i think thats more of people not fixing ball marks...

Was sad that it got too dark after hole 14, so had to leave early...

Will definitely be back.

I found an early tee time for Sunday morning , which is a rarity this time year when the weather is so nice. Our foursome all drove 45 min to one hour to get to the course and were there early.

We were informed there was a 40 minute backup , which I can understand under certain circumstances circumstances. This wasn’t one of them. As we were in the bullpen waiting for the group infront of us to tee off, another foursome was escorted to the box by staff and put infront of us. Come to find out they were the 4th group of the day to get squeezed in with no tee time. No Bueno!

There are some positives: the course was in really good shape, the greens and pin placement were spot on and the staff was awesome.

Take away- I would play this track again but probably during the week when it’s not as crowded and can really enjoy it, not sit and wait for almost every shot. Five plus hours is not my idea of a round of golf
