Great course Photo submitted by 5959steven on 11/08/2016
Fun course
We come here often because it's a really good course for the money. It can play slow on crowded days. Doesn't play very long but I find plenty of trouble.
Concession Facility
Take your own food and drinks. The concession area is hardly ever open.
Great muni, great price.
Well-maintained, great price, fun track. Course has a great layout and is fun to play, especially if you can hit a draw and play to the landing areas. Will definitely go back.
This is a really fun course.
In the fall the greens will make you feel really stupid!
great course
have always liked this course and will continue to play it
Nice course w/ great view of Tulsa
The course was in really good shape but some of the holes need some attention to the greens. The course was a challenge and took my son out their and he loved it.
Very Challenging with many blind shots up and down hills and around corners.
Good value for the price but it's very challenging yet still playable.
Nice course with a lot of elevation changes
The course was very fun to play. There were some burnt places on a few greens. The greens were very fast. However, I really enjoyed playing the course and am looking forward to playing it again.
This course is always challenging....it is fun though!
I love playing the course, and even though I don't play my best game, because I usually just play the easiest courses....this course makes me step up my game by challenging me!
No complaints!
I heard a lot about the course from friends and it was everything they mentioned. Had a blast, can't wait to go again!
Fun course
Course was very enjoyable. Pace was a little slow due to senior tournament going on. Couple of the greens had some burn spots, but other than that the experience was great.
Fun course to play!
This is the hilliest course in Tulsa, hands down. Greens were in surprisingly good shape; quick, and other than a bunch of unrepaired pitch marks, really nice. Really fun course that challenges club selection from start to finish.
Tough Muni
It has canyons and ridge in the name so expect a lot of elevation changes and fairway slope - very rare to get a flat lie, tough with this fact. Greens could use some seeding next spring, alot of bare spots - plus they need those 'how to fix a ball mark' cards handed out to quite a few of the clientele.
Overall great value, hopefully Sand Springs citiizens pass the Parks & Rec bond in November and this place will get a little attention - would definitely be able to raise rates and see more people from Tulsa making their way to this course
My favorite OK golf course
This is a "Don't miss" golf course. If you're going to play one course only in Tulsa, this is the one. If you're looking for flat and easy, don't go there. The course is a great layout, with fantastic scenery. I drive a hundred miles one way and don't regret it.
Great Course!
Really enjoyed this course. Prepare to play a little target golf. I only used my driver 4 times during the round. Great views of beautiful downtown Tulsa! Course was too wet......hold off on some of the water!
Reasonable course, fun elevation changes, greens not the best
I like this golf course. It is definitely the "hilliest" golf course around Tulsa. There are a lot of holes where you go up and down big rises and descents. The course has character. Sadly, this course has just never been able to take good care of its greens. Now. I personally find that the ball rolls pretty straight even across sand and aeration holes; I had three birdies on the day. But for some people it will be disappointing on the putting surface. I give them credit for trying to keep their bent grass greens, they're fighting hard. Maybe they will improve. I still think Sand Springs is a nice course, fun to play.
Course Condition Poor
Almost ever hole had water standing around the greens and sand traps had water standing in them. I realize that at this time of year greens need water but this was as if the course had received 5" or 6" rain moments before we arrived and living in the local area I know we have not receive any rain in 2 weeks. With all the water standing we could only find one working water fountain and the temperature was in the 90's. As we were preparing to tee off a foursome was finishing 18 and one of the group told us that we were teeing off in the middle of a tournament, I walked back to the club house and asked if a tournament was going on and was told no that was the Men's Association, by the time I returned to the tee the group was on the tee and we were asked to tee off on 10
The only course that I know of in Oklahoma that is literally on a mountain/hill.The slope of the course is its best feature.
The Canyons at Blackjack Ridge is one of my favorite courses I've played. The layout of the course is very unique due it being built on the side of a mountain/hill. There's only a few holes that are level, the majority of the holes have elevated tee boxes or greens. For example, there is a par 3 that is 155 yards long but the tee box sits up at least 100 feet in the air. Some of the holes you are hitting downhill and some of the holes are uphill. Overall, this is a very fun course to play for all skill levels. It is by far my favorite course for the money. The course is in good shape this summer and the greens are the nicest I have ever seen them out there. The greens aren't quite country club speed but they are about as close as you're going to get at a public golf course. I would compare the Canyons at Blackjack Ridge to Emerald Falls, Forrest Ridge, or Battlecreek. The Canyons at Blackjack Ridge is more fun than those courses but Emerald Falls & Forrest Ridge are better manicured. For the price, The Canyons at Blackjack Ridge is the best course around the Tulsa area for the money.
Fun Times!
Wow, this was a blast! My son and I played this for the first time yesterday. I was like a kid playing for the first time. I highly recommend playing this course from a break away from the normal.
Always a challenge!
This is the second time we've golfed this course. It is always a challenge, so we keep coming back!
