Spring Hill Golf Club at Albany Golf & Event Center
About
Formerly known as Spring Hill Country Club, Albany Golf & Event Center dates back to 1959. Though the name may have changed, the classic design of the course hasn't. The golf course measures to just over 6,500 yards from the back tees. It may not be a lengthy layout but it's a fun round for beginners and advanced golfers alike, which is why it was chosen as the two-time host to the Oregon Open. The golf course was built on some of the country's most fertile land in a temperate location that allows year-round play. Strategically placed bunkers frame the greens and there are water hazards that come into play on a few holes. One of the most difficult holes, the par-3 17th, is a water hole. There is a lake that runs along the entire right side up to the green, which is also bordered by bunkers to the left.

Very nice greens!
This course has a very nice look about it. Stately cedars and many mature trees lining the fairways. Still open enough to swing away but the trees will come into play if you are a little errant. Some water features, but most don't come into play. The fairways were well groomed and not too wet for winter play. By far the best part of the course were the greens. Subtle breaks, smooth rolls, and fairly fast for this time of year. With four sets of tees, all age and ability levels can enjoy this course.
Would definitely recommend playing!
Winter not the best time
Careful about playing Albany this time of year. We had a frost delay for over an hour, then got put behind a party of five. Club staff were nice enough with some pursuading to let us start on the back 9. Another issue were Winter greens, which made the holes about 10 yards shorter and had us putting on the fairways. Overall, I don't feel like we actually got to play the course as intended. Otherwise, the course is very nice, well-maintained, and recommended.
Worth the trip from Salem. Will go again!
A very enjoyable golf course. Well maintained and has a full kitchen with draft beer(s).
Terrific staff and great value.
While the course is in great condition and is a really good layout, the best part of the experience is the great staff. Whoever does the training should be very proud of the service that is provided.
I will be be back with more friends.
Great layout, favors accuracy over distance.
We had to wait out a frost delay, and the ensuing back up on the first tee, but stll managed a four hour round.
hot deal was great
A bit expensive at regular rate, $50 for eighteen. Hot deal was half price. Nice condition, greens in excellent shape.
Great Deal
Can't beat $24 with a cart and such a beautiful course!!
This course is great.
I enjoyed the game with my friend. The course is great.
This course has some real challenges that require one to pay attention.
Very well maintained course. Greens are exceptional. Not many in the fairway as some fairways tend to funnel down to about 15 yds in width. Rough is tiered and well maintained and not too deep. A nice 3-3-3 layout on each 9. Sand was a little hard (and there is enough around the greens to make one be accurate on the approach. I really enjoyed the course and will play it again.
Excellent Playing conditions
We played there on October 21, 2013, and the course conditions were similar to playing during the summer. The greens were immaculate, the fairways allowed the ball to roll a good distance, the rough was cut short and there were very few areas where leaves covered the ground. The course was not busy and so we were allowed to tee off about 1/2 hour early.
My golf partner had never played there before and he was very impressed with the course. Most of my play has been during the wet months and so it was fun to play in much better conditions.
Unique layout with equal number of par 3's, 4's, & 5's.
Enjoyable golf course and layout by combining equal number of short and long holes. This provides scoring opportunities every 3 holes. Great design and layout with the challenge based on your choice of tees. Greens were smooth and true, with fairways well maintained.
The course is always in great shape
Played course about 8 times now and really like it..
I live 30miles away and think it is better then the choices I have in this larger town I'm from............
Great Course
Springhill Country Club is a beautiful course and well maintained. I highly recommend playing this course.
friendliness
I felt like anunwanted gest by the pro shop and some of the plate players.
Beautiful facility and course
Everything is in perfect condition and a beautiful setting. Fairly busy, but pace moved along well. We had a cart, but would have been a relatively easy walk. Reminded us of the great old courses in Portland, Rose City/Eastmoreland. Pretty $$$$ normally, but we got a great deal on Golfnow.
Good an fair test of golf.
I was disappointed to see cup liners installed at surface level to the greens. The rules of golf- see, Definitions: Hole -allow cup liners provided they are installed at least 1" below the putting surface. The only exception is if the soil conditions are so poor that it is impractical to do so, and that is not the case at Albany Golf and Event Center. The reality is that most golf courses using cup liners do so in order to avoid cutting new cups regularly. The reason is obvious, savings. But it is a sad testimony to their integrity when they set the rules of golf aside for their own convenience. I will use golfnow.com again, but I will not book another round at Albany Golf & Event Center until I know they observe and honor the rules of this great game.
Great day
I like this course. It gives the average golfer like me a chance to shoot a decent score. The course is well maintained and not so busy that you have to stand and wait at every Tee box. We were able to consistently play on the move. I will return to this course.
Great course
The course is great and the food is good at the course. We have played here twice during the month of August. Found that the men's club and other members are not that welcoming and if you are not a great player they have little patience for outsiders.
Love the course but probably will not go down again this year.
Beautiful landscaping
This is my first time playing this course. The pace of play was slow. I would play there again.
this course is a great deal for the $
This is the second time I have played this course. I enjoy playing here because of the friendlyness of the staff. I only noticed one green with a little moss on it. The course appears to be very well maintained. The greens were a bit dry and fast on the front nine. But slowed down as we played thru the back nine. For sure will be playing there again soon.
