Spring Hill Golf Club at Albany Golf & Event Center
About
Formerly known as Spring Hill Country Club, Albany Golf & Event Center dates back to 1959. Though the name may have changed, the classic design of the course hasn't. The golf course measures to just over 6,500 yards from the back tees. It may not be a lengthy layout but it's a fun round for beginners and advanced golfers alike, which is why it was chosen as the two-time host to the Oregon Open. The golf course was built on some of the country's most fertile land in a temperate location that allows year-round play. Strategically placed bunkers frame the greens and there are water hazards that come into play on a few holes. One of the most difficult holes, the par-3 17th, is a water hole. There is a lake that runs along the entire right side up to the green, which is also bordered by bunkers to the left.

Good Course for the Area but Pace of Play Needs Work
Albany Golf and Event Center is a fun course. The variety of holes is one positive thing about this course, but the pace of play was very, very slow each time I have played. In saying that, however, it was well worth the extra time.
One part of the course that I really enjoy is the change of distance from hole-to-hole. You never play back-to-back holes with the same par. While the course is not long, by any means, the pin placements, bunkers, and fairly narrow fairways make the course somewhat challenging.
The staff does a good job maintaining the course, and I will continue to play there.
Great course, great value
We did get a "hot deal" for this course, so was very happy that it also turned out to be a good course. The course isn't terribly difficult but there are several holes where trees do give you a challenge for not keeping it in the fairway. There are also several holes with water features but they were more pretty to look out than coming into play. The course has 6 par 5's, 6 par 4, and 6 par 3's and I really liked that variety. We had groups in front of us and in back of us but still managed a 4 hour round which is a good pace of play.
Great place to Golf!
The course was well maintained and layed out well. The greens were true and pin placements were challenging, but not to the point you couldnt score well. The only thing that would have been an improvement would to be a beverage cart on the course.
The only negative is the lack of sand in their bunkers.
Lots of trees and sand bunkers. Fairways are usually on the narrow side so accuracy is important. All par 5's are reachable for a medium to long hitter. The greens are moderately fast and true.
Great, maybe greatest, value with GolfNow.
I have played this course about 15 times during the past 6 months, mostly with GolfNow's tee time hot deals, which can't be beat. Seriously, par 72 semi-private, 18 holes with cart for < $25 per player? This is a great value. Course is very pleasant, mostly flat. Pace of play around the 1:08 tee time is slow at times, but later afternoons look great. I know "go pound sand" did not originate with golf, but if it did, it could have been at Albany. Shallow layer of sand barely covers hard pan clay. When wet, play it like a normal chip shot, as in don't hit it fat. This is my only real complaint about the course, and unfortunately, I hit several fairway and greenside bunkers on Sunday: SSDH. Greens seem to be improving; they suffered from fungus last summer. I hear grumbings that long time members unhappy with opening to public. Short answer is economics. If want a private club, dues must be higher. To members: encourage non-members to join instead of badgering them. Yes, I am sympathetic to member concerns. I repair mostly ball marks on greens besides mine, but I don't appreciate the smug attitudes some members have towards the public.
The greens are great!
Fun course to play, well-maintained and the best greens I've played for a long time.
Good value for the money. Will definitely go back.
Had a good time the course was well maintained and employees were helpful. Will be back
Good challenge
This course is a little bit different as the layout is 3-3's, 3-4's and 3 par 5's on each side. I like it that way tho. It was in very good shape the day we played even tho it had rained the night before. I recommend it highly.
Very well maintained
the course its self is fantastic but the layout for the facilities is a little bit confusing if your a first timer to the course. But all in all you can't go wrong just ask someone where to go once your in the parking lot.
course was is good shape after a week of rain
were received great by the staff .. the course was well worth the price..our foursome had a great time and many laughs at our golf game..cannot wait to play the course again
course in pretty good cond. greens bumpy from plugging in recent weeks
felt it was a good deal at the discounted green fees
The staff is amazing!
The coarse is beautiful and well kept. The staff is very welcoming.
This course is terrific
Really enjoyed our round of golf at the Albany Golf and Event Center. Very well maintained course and is in great shape. Would definitely play again.
Great value and quality course.
The course was in good shape considering the recent rains. Greens need attention but haven't been sanded or aerated yet. Staff is great and very accomodating. Look forward to playing again.
Challenging greens
The greens were manicured to perfection, thus I can't blame missed puts on the greens;just my misreading them.I highly recommend this coarse for a great golfing experience!
Excellent
Albany Golf and Event GC ( we know it by it's former name of Spring Hill) is still a super golf course. For no known reason we had not been there for a couple of years and are quite pleased to have returned .
The course is optically appealing featuring great flora landscaping and aquatic vistas and will only get better as spring weather arrives. The arborist there clearly enjoys her work. The greens are receptive but challenging. A couple of new tee boxes have been built since our last visit adding length to the course. The fairways are well manicured , the rough not too tough, but quite lush and penal near the greens, as it should be, imo.
I honestly can't think of a better place to play golf in the Willamette Valley.
Nice course that provides easy and difficult hole for challenge.
Course is heavily woods with narrow fairways. Fairways are
well maintained and greens are recovering from sanding nicely. Enough water to keep things interesting.
Good course, was better before being bought by a new owner. the maintenance has gone downhill since being opened to the public
I play this course a lot. Good fun and challenging course!
Great value!
Great value and a very enjoyable day on the course. A bucket of balls, a cart, and 18 holes of golf for two for under $45 through Golfnow is a super deal! The course has a set-up one doesn't normally see: equal numbers of par 3s, 4s, and 5s.
