Silver Lake Golf Course

About
Silver Lake Golf Course sits along Staten Island's North Shore, offering a scenic and challenging layout that is one of the five boroughs' best-kept secrets. The course has a classic layout with postage stamp-sized greens and narrow fairways. At just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, the golf course appears shorter than it plays. The tight layout demands accuracy throughout especially on the lengthier holes, of which there are several. The course offers interesting risk-reward opportunities and holes 12 through 14 are considered by locals the "Amen Corner" of the North. The entire layout will test your shot-making abilities. In addition to the challenging round, Silver Lake is known for having consistently excellent conditions with some of New York's best greens, which is why it has garnered a strong following among local players.

Sikver Lake
Way too crowded. Especially for tbe price tag. Would almost rather not play.
Slowwwwwww
For every foursome that comes here there is only 1 decent player, the other 3 that tagged along came with their father’s golf bag and a cooler full of beer. The course is not overly challenging but for people who are not avid golfers this place will lead to a ton of lost balls and a slow pace of play. With a 20 minute delay to my tee time, it took about 3 hours to do 9 holes. Every hole will have a foursome still waiting to tee off in front of you. I have never played a slower round of golf in my life. For $95 (including cart) NO THANK YOU silver lake!
Terrible Place
My first time experience at Silver Lake was the absolute worst experience a golf course could possibly offer. I’m a big golfnow guy (1.6 handicap) and have played over 70 courses in NJ and NY (public and private). Playing here left me astonished, and the thought of calling the police came to mind when I had an unusual encounter. First off, not only are the rates ridiculous, but the track makes no sense, is dangerous, and is squished together. We waited 20 minutes on the first tee, were mocked at by the starters, and then cut off by a golf camp with 10 KIDS. Not only is this dangerous for children but destroys our entire round off the bat. Luckily, we were able to get ahead of them and only waited 15-20 mins per tee box. 2 HOURS BEFORE DUSK and (on the 14th hole) we were approached by the rudest and most disrespectful starter known to man, and told that the course is closed and time to wrap it in. Never in my 20 years of golfing have I been told to “wrap it up”. It’s either you pay for 9 or you pay for 18. This is absolutely ridiculous and the course should be ashamed for charging any price near 70 dollars. Additionally, the starter physically put his hands on my bag and through it off the cart.
Might return
Pace of play was horrendous. Had a noon tee time, had to bail after 16 holes , 4 hours and 35 minutes into the round,
It was an overcast day, course was wet in spots after earlier rain- course was packed despite less than ideal weather.
Biggest issue - cart paths, so broken, so bumpy so bad
Conditions good. Take a cart
If golfing in temperatures above 85 with high humidity take a cart even if playing 9 holes
The course is hilly and will wear you out especially if you are a senior.
5.5 hour round
Ranger did nothing to address pace of play, happens often. Would not recommend.
Pace of Play
Embarrassing slow pace of play of the women’s club .
Too slow…
We finished 7 holes in close to 3 hours. They are over jamming the tee times- completely unacceptable
Fore !!
Course is great shape. Gotta keep your head on swivel with all the errant shots and people screaming Fore. No GPs on carts. Slow play on the weekends to be expected. Great staff. A young kid named Joe was very helpful in the pro shop.
Help?
We didn’t get to play the high school kids we’re having a tournament they canceled my tee time and golf now charge my card I’m disputing the claim golf now need to be more involved other than charging our credit cards who is responsible for this silver lake says not them
Good groundskeeper’s matter
Shout out to groundskeepers, course in great shape! They do good job of moving tee boxes around so that the ground doesn’t get chewed up. Greens 🥬 also running true. Keep up the hard work👍
Best NYC but…
6 hour round and no ranger patrolling to pick up pace of play
