Silver Lake Golf Course

About
Silver Lake Golf Course sits along Staten Island's North Shore, offering a scenic and challenging layout that is one of the five boroughs' best-kept secrets. The course has a classic layout with postage stamp-sized greens and narrow fairways. At just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, the golf course appears shorter than it plays. The tight layout demands accuracy throughout especially on the lengthier holes, of which there are several. The course offers interesting risk-reward opportunities and holes 12 through 14 are considered by locals the "Amen Corner" of the North. The entire layout will test your shot-making abilities. In addition to the challenging round, Silver Lake is known for having consistently excellent conditions with some of New York's best greens, which is why it has garnered a strong following among local players.

Great round
Great round. Reasonable price. Course was in good shape despite aeration. staff was awesome
golf now charge as much as double the fees of the golf course itself , there was no senior and military discount
Great overall value!
Silver Lake was a fun, well maintained course with friendly staff and a nice clubhouse. We enjoyed our round, however the course was very crowded and pace of play was an issue - we waited on nearly every hole, and our round took over 5 hours. Overall, I look forward to returning to Silver Lake and hope that in the future rounds will be slightly more spread out to encourage faster play.
good job
Shout out to the course superintendent and staff at this course for the hard work in 2022 and 2023 . they seen to work tirelessly on the battle of the leaf round up in the fall and also in their routine maintenance on a daily basis. . we have enjoyed playing without searching for errant shots in the leaves . we played last week and can already see improvements that are taking place . keep up the good work and THANK YOU so much !
Greens
Was hoping by now that the greens would be filled in since they were aerated the first week of April. Hopefully after this weekends heavy rains the grass with grow and the staff can roll them? Fairways filling in and new turf areas as well as moving tee boxes around helping with pace of play and Re-thinking strategy off Tee. Starters usually in good mood but some different faces at turn seemed a little annoyed about something? Maybe girls High school match had something to do with it? We were 3 behind 4some playing from tips so had to wait some but still finished in 4 hours which is fine by me!
Tree Trimming
Crew hard at work finally cutting branches off of left side of hole 13! Much needed as they were sticking out way to far and eating up wayward tee shots on already difficult par5. For some reason they left a few overhanging branches on right side of 18th fairway which seem to have magnetic like powers on my tee shots!😂 Greens still filling in after recent aeration but “The Lake” is coming along nicely. Keep up the hard work. Thanks
Working Man’s country club?
Airated greens 🥬 filling in nicely, lots of time and effort by staff to Re-route water and moving Tee boxes around to give grass time to grow ( Hello LaTourett! ) Thanks to complete whiff by weatherman, wide open! Biggest issue is cost of cart-43$ excessive also 6$ for domestic cans of beer is outrageous. By far favorite of 3 public courses on Staten Island but looks like the “ working man” may need two jobs to ride and enjoy a few beers on course here.
Ahead of schedule
The hard work the grounds crew does all year around is evident! I’ve played all 3 public courses on Staten Island and “The Lake” is head and shoulders above the other two which are run bye American golf. Greens have grass already and scheduled to be airated soon which can only help with new growth. It’s challenging but fair track. Gets tight in spots and wet on back but considering it still March you really can’t complain. Keep up the hard work, thanks
Bonus Golf
Pleasantly surprised to NOT be shoveling snow in mid-February! Courses in great shape considered time of year and recent rain, you can see the managements hard work paying off. Thanks for taking care of greens and Re-investing in maintenance of course! Bonus round👍
Freeze after effects
The course still thawing had tee boxes with frozen ground, short ter required. thawing fairway were soggy covered with geese dropping. I had a good deal so it is what it is, winter golf.
