Silver Lake Golf Course

About
Silver Lake Golf Course sits along Staten Island's North Shore, offering a scenic and challenging layout that is one of the five boroughs' best-kept secrets. The course has a classic layout with postage stamp-sized greens and narrow fairways. At just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, the golf course appears shorter than it plays. The tight layout demands accuracy throughout especially on the lengthier holes, of which there are several. The course offers interesting risk-reward opportunities and holes 12 through 14 are considered by locals the "Amen Corner" of the North. The entire layout will test your shot-making abilities. In addition to the challenging round, Silver Lake is known for having consistently excellent conditions with some of New York's best greens, which is why it has garnered a strong following among local players.

Silver Lake
All is well but the track is being discovered and the crowd is there.
Silver Lake in the best bang for the buck.
The best of the munis in NYC. Kudos to Doug J. . Pat S. & the STARTER Steve.
Pick up leaves to speed up play
Leaves all over the course and greens extended play.
We spend an inordinant amount of time looking for our balls.
Warm fall day
Course was in good shape. Lots of leaves not there fault its just mother nature.
Solid NYC course
Less than 20 mins from the Battery Tunnel, this course was in surprisingly solid condition. It had other hallmarks of city courses — slow pace of play and tight holes — but all in all good value as long as you have the time.
Great course. Fall leaves add to the challenge
Love this course. Great layout. A couple of holes are a challenge, and the fall leaves don't help when you tee off and drive the fairway over a hill and out of your line of site. For the sake of keeping pace, I give up walking /riding around the fairway and just drop another ball. Kills the momentum a bit, but it is what it is.
Pin placement on some of the greens will have you considering another hobby. : )
Groups of 5 and 6 Golfers - No Marshals
Played with 3 friends at 12 noon on a Wednesday. All was good until we got to the back nine and after a couple holes we came upon a '5 some" and in front of them a "six some".
Play ground to a halt. These groups had no regard for golf etiquette or the right play. They hit the ball into pour fairway regularly and cut into our fairway as we are teeing off.
Obviously no course supervision.. Won't be returning anytime soon.
Ok course, basic
The course is ok and has a few interesting holes but otherwise is nothing exceptional. It does have a number of elevations and big drops. The holes are otherwise simple straight back and forth. The greens are decent with some movement and in good shape. I could lean between a 2 and a 3; Not bad if you are right nearby but not worth a trip to play.
Good conditions for end of September
With a coarse that gets as much use as it does, overall the course is in very good shape. Really can’t do much with the par 3 tee boxes but the grounds crew are working really hard. If only played treated the course with a little more respect.
Also, pace of play can sometimes get a little bogged down on the back nine also. The rangers try and move the foursomes along as best they can.
Still one of my favorite course to play.
Awesome NYC Public Course!
This was my favorite 18 hole NYC Public Course I have played this year. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We got great weather (which always helps), but I was very pleasantly surprised by the course condition compared to some peer courses. There were some rough patches in the fairways that were getting re-seeded and clearly being worked on a bit, but barely affected my game. The course was really fun to play and had a great mix of some difficult tight fairways, as well as wide open play. The greens were pretty easy (though a bit quick) for the most part, but had some major movement on a few holes. Would highly recommend checking this place out, the best value for the money of NYC Public Courses I have been able to book for an early morning weekend round.
