Silver Lake Golf Course
About
Silver Lake Golf Course sits along Staten Island's North Shore, offering a scenic and challenging layout that is one of the five boroughs' best-kept secrets. The course has a classic layout with postage stamp-sized greens and narrow fairways. At just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, the golf course appears shorter than it plays. The tight layout demands accuracy throughout especially on the lengthier holes, of which there are several. The course offers interesting risk-reward opportunities and holes 12 through 14 are considered by locals the "Amen Corner" of the North. The entire layout will test your shot-making abilities. In addition to the challenging round, Silver Lake is known for having consistently excellent conditions with some of New York's best greens, which is why it has garnered a strong following among local players.

Brutal pace of play.
Abandoned our round on the 13th hole at 6:35pm. Had a 2:31 tee time. Didnt tee off til 2:55. Pace was absolutely unacceptable. Never again.
Horribly managed course for the price
The course moves at a snail’s pace with the starter and marshal doing little to nothing to get people moving. Not at all worth the steep price of $75 including cart. No range, no cart person serving snacks/drinks. Tee times too close together. Rounds are a 5 hour minimum no matter when you play.
Silverlake
Course was in decent shape, plays pretty easy but enjoyable. Waited on every tee box but not for huge amounts of time. Staff had no interest in being there and were largely unhelpful. There is also a huge cart fee ~45 which is absurd. Fine for the money if walking but expensive for the quality once you add in a cart. Maybe play there once a year but that would be stretching it.
Excellent course and staff, only wish is they go back to including the cart with military tee times, instead of hitting you with another 21 bucks for the carts
Shot placement type course
Well maintained throughout the year. Challenging enough course on the island with plenty of slopes and turns that keep you focused on shot selection and precision.
Course seemed ok - unhelpful staff
We showed up for our tee time in a light drizzle. After we teed off on the first hole, the sky opened up and it started pouring rain in completely unplayable conditions. We went back to our car to wait it out. It lightened for a few minutes about 45 minutes later so went back out but started to downpour again before we even teed off and was unplayable (including lakes on many of the greens you could see from the clubhouse). Asked for a rain check because it was unplayable and staff refused saying we knew rain was in the forecast. Ridiculous - I can understand not money back, but a rain check given the conditions made complete sense. Couldn’t believe how unhelpful the staff was.
Hot 🥵 Weather Day
Hot humid day, suddenly busy around 2pm! Waited on cart and GM with cute 🐕 a bit perturb about chaos? Breezed through front and slowed down in usual spots on back still finished in 4 hours. Course in very good shape and drainage work seems to be paying off👍
Poorly Managed Pace
This course was in the nicest condition on the island but was horribly managed with pacing. Today I was behind a group of 6, a group of 5, and what seemed to be a training session of about 7 kids and a coach. The course ranger was nowhere to be found and we had to jump around constantly to play at a decently normal pace. This course is really nice if you luck out and play on a quiet day, if it isn’t, 9 holes is taking you 4 hours.
My God, the crowds...
Course in fairly decent shape... especially compared to a few yrs back. However, I'm not sure if I've ever seen a more crowded golf course- our round was close to 6 hours.
Had to leave early
Pace of play was pretty bad which is very odd here as it usually is fine. We waited 25 minutes on the tee on the tenth. Staff was apologetic and tried to rectify the situation.
Wish they would do away with the extra 20 dollars for the cart, as a veteran it used to be included on military tee times
