Silver Lake Golf Course sits along Staten Island's North Shore, offering a scenic and challenging layout that is one of the five boroughs' best-kept secrets. The course has a classic layout with postage stamp-sized greens and narrow fairways. At just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, the golf course appears shorter than it plays. The tight layout demands accuracy throughout especially on the lengthier holes, of which there are several. The course offers interesting risk-reward opportunities and holes 12 through 14 are considered by locals the "Amen Corner" of the North. The entire layout will test your shot-making abilities. In addition to the challenging round, Silver Lake is known for having consistently excellent conditions with some of New York's best greens, which is why it has garnered a strong following among local players.

Welcome to NYC golf

For the new members to the NYC golf community. I read these comments about pricing at NYC public course and realize many are misinformed. The NYC Parks Dept sets the rates at all NYC municipal courses. They also charge hefty concession/lease fees to the operator of these courses, while also getting a cut out of ever round/cart/reservation that is made. NYC and State also collect its taxes from all sales at the course. Yes it is business but NYC has no involvement with these courses (city property) other than reaching into the public players pockets and taking their money. (I have no affiliation with any course management and have been playing NYC public golf courses since the NYC Parks was running them.) Rates at all NYC golf courses have gone up every year for the last 5+ years, all done by NYC Council.

Worst Pace of Play in the Area

They absolutely overbook groups. It took us 3 hours and 10 minutes to play 9 holes and we gave up and left at the turn. Absolutely brutal. Not one ranger was seen to try to move play along. I don't think it would've mattered much, way too many people. Poor management looking for the greens fees with no concern for the playing experience.

FORE!!! ..........Caution

BE very much aware of that balls hit from either alongside the hole you're playing but especially going in the opposite direction! My fiancee was hit squarely on the temple from an errant tee shot at the the 4th green that temporarily stunned and almost caused a potentially life threatening situation. The player/group who were responsible did yell warning but due to the very distant tee box, everyone didn't hear. On the back nine there are a few opposing holes that pose the same danger from errant shots. FORE!!

Slow as a joke

Had a 7:55am tee time and didn’t start until 8:35 because they let a golf club bring more people than they had tee times. Their pace of play was pathetically slow. Took two hours to play 4 holes. DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE ON SUNDAY.
