Silver Lake Golf Course sits along Staten Island's North Shore, offering a scenic and challenging layout that is one of the five boroughs' best-kept secrets. The course has a classic layout with postage stamp-sized greens and narrow fairways. At just over 6,000 yards from the back tees, the golf course appears shorter than it plays. The tight layout demands accuracy throughout especially on the lengthier holes, of which there are several. The course offers interesting risk-reward opportunities and holes 12 through 14 are considered by locals the "Amen Corner" of the North. The entire layout will test your shot-making abilities. In addition to the challenging round, Silver Lake is known for having consistently excellent conditions with some of New York's best greens, which is why it has garnered a strong following among local players.

Love this course
Another great round at silver lake. Best course on the Rock!!!!!!!! Always friendly staff. And course is in great shape. Oh yeahhhhhhhhhh
POOR PACE OF PLAY
While I understand it was a perfect weather weekend for November the course was either over booked or poorly managed. Had a 12:10 tee time which you would expect to be plenty of time to get a round in but we didnt tee off until after 12:30 and only got 13 holes in. Unreal.

Very nice course - very very well maintained
This late into the season (November), the course is very very well maintained. Tee boxes and greens are free of leaves and the fairways are in good condition.
But the pace of play was so horrible, only managed to play 3 holes per hour, if I was able to finish it would have taken 6 hours or so to play 18 holes.
Staff is friendly, and the veranda has great food.

SAVE YOUR MONEY
They will charge you $80 per person, and triple book your tee time. I booked the 9:40am tee time and when I showed up at 9am to check in, there was a massive cart line at the first tee box. We checked in at 9:10am for our 9:40 tee time and did not tee off until 10:30 AM. The pace of play was absolutely terrible. Every hole was at least a 15minute wait before you were able to tee off. An average round for my 4some plays in 3.5-4 hours; we played 9 holes in 4 hours due to the overbooking of tee times and the very long waits in between each hole. If you have nothing to do and want to play a 8 hour round of golf, this is the course for you.

Great course
Short but challenging. Especially the greens. Greens are fast. But overall excellent course.

A warm day in November ( mid 70's ) . . . .
The course was crowded but play moved decently . Tees and greens are exceptional and fairways have been cleared of leaves . And the food is excellent !!

Working Man's Course
Silver Lake's welcome sign reads "the Working Man's Golf Course" and it fully lives up to that slogan. Bordered on all sides by houses, cityscape and town traffic, golf here's feels like an errand between school drop off. Course is short and hilly with remarkably fast greens for a public track. A handful of picturesque, well-designed holes can be found around an otherwise compact and forgettable down-and-back layout. Conditions are average at best with lots of pock marked greens. Everyone there seems to know each other - and there's lots of calling across fairways to friends and playing music in carts...a working man's dream.

Love this golf course
Very good golf course. Love the course lay out
. Today after two days of rain greens were in great shape . The course was very playable. Took 4.5 hours I would always recommend this golf course. We have been able to play here for the last weeks coming from Manhattan

Solid course, close to the city
The course was in very good shape, especially given the amount of play it receives. Nice undulating terrain, consistent greens, and challenging enough from the blacks. The staff was beyond great, the beverage cart comes around frequently, and drinks are very reasonable. The pace of play, however, was atrocious, as we there was literally 3 groups queued up on the 3rd hole, which didn't open up, thereafter. But hey, it's an inexpensive public course, close to the city! Just make sure to give yourself 5+ hrs for the round.

Narrow and slow
Very narrow course you will find different hole players constantly coming into your hole to find the ball and you will most likely to do that as well. Makes pace very slow. It took us 3 hours to play the first half.
Some short holes had 2-3 teams lined up to tee off.

Pretty Good Shape
Silver Lake is in pretty decent shape. Short and hilly. Drains slow so don’t play right after wet weather.
