Silver Lake Golf Course

Played Silverlake several times this year and it's definitely the most well-kept course on Staten Island. I enjoy playing here, except when the pace of play was as bad as it was that day. In 5 hours, we got done only 15 holes, and we never made it to the back 9 and replayed the front 9.

I love the course, but there has to be some control in booking T-times to manage the pace of play. Although circumstances with COVID have people playing more golf and a beautiful Saturday afternoon in November may have slowed up the pace of play more than usual.

Still good to get out in November with course conditions likes it's April.

Nice course well maintained and friendly staff.

If I could give negative stars for pace of play I would.

Two things:

1) There is no way these guys are not selling T-Times in between what's on golf now. The only reason I booked the course was because there were multiple times being shown around the time I booked only to show up at the course and have 4 groups on the first T waiting before me. I booked a 12 and got off at 12:45 ridiculous. I should have been on the 3rd hole by then

2) There are no rangers pushing pace of play. People are literally taking 30 minutes to play 1 hole. Not right. I'm a 20 HDCP and can play a round in 3.5 hours. You cant let people hit a ball 20 feet 3-4 times in a row. Someone has to watch pace of play.

They are undermining your website because I cant trust the t-times shown.

I realize this is public golf but there is no effort to push pace of play, just book as many times as possible.

Course in great shape except for leaves on the green, was a bit pricey $80 but it’s close. I play here a lot.

Another great round at the Lake!!!

Greens were rock hard, a bit of frosted dew on all the foliage, but quiet, pristine, and most importantly, I had the course to myself at 8am tee off. At one point I took out about 6 balls and just practiced my mid irons.

I just don't come back there, if they don't have a discount.

I played on Nov. 8th and apparently they seemed to overbook,, I played only 10 holes and it took almost 4 HOURS, I quit thereafter, not please about the pace,, I recommend the course but, as a warning, if they overbook the course, get ready to pull your hair, it was a frustrating day,,

As always it was an enjoyable round. The conditions were good, and it helped that it was a beautiful day as well.

Another great round at silver lake. Best course on the Rock!!!!!!!! Always friendly staff. And course is in great shape. Oh yeahhhhhhhhhh

While I understand it was a perfect weather weekend for November the course was either over booked or poorly managed. Had a 12:10 tee time which you would expect to be plenty of time to get a round in but we didnt tee off until after 12:30 and only got 13 holes in. Unreal.

This late into the season (November), the course is very very well maintained. Tee boxes and greens are free of leaves and the fairways are in good condition.

But the pace of play was so horrible, only managed to play 3 holes per hour, if I was able to finish it would have taken 6 hours or so to play 18 holes.

Staff is friendly, and the veranda has great food.

They will charge you $80 per person, and triple book your tee time. I booked the 9:40am tee time and when I showed up at 9am to check in, there was a massive cart line at the first tee box. We checked in at 9:10am for our 9:40 tee time and did not tee off until 10:30 AM. The pace of play was absolutely terrible. Every hole was at least a 15minute wait before you were able to tee off. An average round for my 4some plays in 3.5-4 hours; we played 9 holes in 4 hours due to the overbooking of tee times and the very long waits in between each hole. If you have nothing to do and want to play a 8 hour round of golf, this is the course for you.

Short but challenging. Especially the greens. Greens are fast. But overall excellent course.

The course was crowded but play moved decently . Tees and greens are exceptional and fairways have been cleared of leaves . And the food is excellent !!

Silver Lake's welcome sign reads "the Working Man's Golf Course" and it fully lives up to that slogan. Bordered on all sides by houses, cityscape and town traffic, golf here's feels like an errand between school drop off. Course is short and hilly with remarkably fast greens for a public track. A handful of picturesque, well-designed holes can be found around an otherwise compact and forgettable down-and-back layout. Conditions are average at best with lots of pock marked greens. Everyone there seems to know each other - and there's lots of calling across fairways to friends and playing music in carts...a working man's dream.
