Mowing
I don’t understand why they follow you on every hole. Why not go backwards so you only get bother once instead of the whole round? And they don’t even turn their mowers off while you’re hitting. I talked with the guy inside and he didn’t seemed to care. This happens at most golf courses. But I still don’t understand why they can’t start on 18 then 17 and so on. I love ❤️ this course it’s almost a hour drive. And would play it almost every day if I could! The man behind the counter must have had a bad day! He’s been nice and helpful on other days.
We played at the end of a wet week. Grass was high and playedharder than normal. Greens still recovering from aeration were slower than normal.
Fairly straight up course.
Will continue to play Mayapple.
Best fall golf yet!
Accommodating Pro, fast greens, wide open play (3 hour round), and friendly employees made it a great experience. Be sure to book a few rounds before the snow flies.
some interesting holes...
First time at Mayapple, played with three guys who knew their way around. Unfortunately the course had aerated the greens and fairways the day before I got there and I found out about it when checking in at the pro shop. I guess they did not let Golf Now know, or however the procedure goes. I would have chosen another time for Mayapple had I known that. Still it was good to get out on a great-weather day; scoring was predictably inconsistent.
Not much trouble to get into on the fairways, very wide and only a few with traps. Greens were quite small, which I liked, but not a whole lot of bunkering around most of them. not sure if I will go back (an hour's drive), but the price was good and overall an acceptable experience.
Great service and experience
The golf course was in great shape, and the staff was great. They did have a large girls high school golf outing, but we were told before we started. We did catch up with them and slowed down considerably. We wanted to see what the issue was. We were told was that there was twice as many girls showing up for thew event that what was previously booked for the event and that they had taken up all of the golf course.
We asked for, and received, a rain-check for the next time we wanted to come out. Everyone was very helpful with the situation. Some customers were very rude and argumentative about the situation and the staff apologized for their actions. Apparently the issue was the group booked one of the hot deals and then wanted a rain check which the course can't do because they are trade times with Golfnow and not in the courses system.
Anyways, I play the course regularly and everyone in the shop has been great this year.
not customer friendly
I live very close to Mayapple Golf, was a member for many years, and play there often including in a senior league. I made a tee time for my wife and I to play there today on Golfnow.com, a Hot Deal, $30.98 for the both of us, 18 holes with a cart. When we arrived at the course, the pro mentioned that there was a high school girls tournament going on, but they had teed off no. 1 about 40 minutes prior. We figured it would be a while until we caught up and it should be fine. By the 4th tee, we were standing around waiting. Then, we played the entire 4th hole and they were still on the 5th tee. I have nothing against the high school girls, but I could tell this was going to be a long round. Another golfer who had joined us was also not happy with the situation. We headed for the clubhouse to see if we could skip some holes but this was not possible.
My problem is that the pro, Jeremy Todd, there was very arrogant and in our faces and was unwilling to anything to try to accommodate us. I did end up calling Golfnow and they were very good about crediting my account, but had to talk to the pro to verify things. After that, the pro was extremely rude to all of us, including use of the f-word. Not exactly how I would like to be treated by a local business person. There are lots of great courses nearby. I recommend going somewhere else besides Mayapple.
Great deal for this course
Played on a Hot Deal--this is a great course to play. Became bogged down on the back nine and play was very slow, but overall I enjoyed this course. Will play again!
Great course for the price
This is one of my favorite courses in the Carlisle area. The course is kept so clean it is hard to find fault in it.
The only issue I had the last time I played here was a couple guys working at the front of the green on #13, and were not paying attention for people coming so I had to basically hit into them for them to stop so that I could hit into the green, but then when I got up to the green I saw that they were repairing some issues that were caused from the mass rain we had just had.
Great staff, beautiful course, best practice area in the Carlisle area.
Great course
Booked through GOLFNOW no issues. We arrived about 50 minutes early and was able to get right on the course and play. Course has fairly tight fairways with defined rough that you can play from. I only play a couple of times of year and could still have an enjoyable outing. One of the greens could use a little work other than that course was in excellent conditions. All water stops had cold water available.
Very good greens but slow slow slow
No rangers in sight one time four groups on the same hole. 5 1-2 hours but greens are good. Too slow for me
Nice condition, very straight and open
I would definitely play again, but it was a very vanilla course.
The par threes were good
Shaun
The whole experience was great from the PGA pro at the shop to the course which was in good condition for this time of year.
Golf Etiquette
5 some isn't allowed. But if your going to play with 5 people at least have some Golf Etiquette and let them go around. If not and it's me I will call the club house and complain and have you removed or separated! At Glade Valley they will remove your group and you will not get a refund! Golf Etiquette is like not cruising in the fast lane. Let them get by!
Fun course at a good pace
I only paid $25 for this round, and it was worth every penny. The course was in great condition, and the pace of play was good. My playing partner and I were off the course in about 3 hours.
Good value/Decent course
The course provides a variety of holes, some challenging and others pretty straightforward.
Could be a gem
I live near Mayapple and play there 30 + times a year, this course could be a very nice golf course with better grounds keeping and a management effort to make this course great. The cart paths are bad, the sand traps not manicured, a lot of small adjustments could make this course great.A consistent change in Golf Pros hinder progress. But the Mayapple Grill make up for a lot of the golf issues, great drinks and very good food Lets hope that management gets involved to make this course a great place to play golf.
Always Enjoy Mayapple
Mayapple is one of three courses within 15 minutes of where I live, and I always enjoy playing there. They are very accommodating to single golfers.
Even though the course rating and slope indicate it's a pretty easy course (69.0/112 from the whites), there is just enough trouble to keep you on your toes. The greens were recently aerated so putting was a bit of a challenge, but I knew that going in so I'm not complaining. Normally, the greens are pretty nice.
This time there was a minor issue, but the guy at the pro shop was very helpful. Seems the link between Golf Now and the course system wasn't working right so they didn't have my reservation on file. Fortunately, there was nobody else booked for that time, and all I had to do was show my GN confirmation and he said they would take care of it.
Over-all, another nice experience.
