Boone Golf Club

About
Boone Golf Club is one of the area's most popular public courses. It was designed by Ellis Maples, the architect of many of the South's finest courses. Utilizing the dramatic Hill Country landscape, the course is as scenic as it is challenging. From the elevated tees you'll get a view of the surrounding mountains and the winding streams that meander through the golf course. The wide fairways are bordered by colorful wildflowers and the greens have subtle but tricky undulations. The par-5 sixth is one of the most memorable holes on the course. The green is the most challenging element of this hole, not only is it steeply pitched there is also water guarding the front. Boone Golf Club is a challenging but fair layout that golfers of all skill levels enjoy playing.

Breezed through on a Tuesday afternoon
Probably a top 5 round of golf in my 35 years of playing! Course was immaculate, weather was perfect and the pace of play was phenomenal! The only negative feeling I’ve ever had about playing Boone is the pace of play, but Tuesday the group in front of us had a 6 hole head start and we never sniffed them. Can’t wait to return!
Fantastic Course!
This course is in such fine shape right now, it’s the track I most thoroughly enjoy each time . Played from the tips, one can come to realize it’s a great test of every style of play. Be it driver-wedge or long iron-mid iron combination play, the course is going stand up to it . Tough par5’s are what a truly well-rounded golf course must feature. Regardless of whether one decides to trek up to the back tees to tee up or not, the view of no.10 from the tee box is absolutely daunting . The backdrops to almost every shot one will play at Boone GC is worth a photo. Massive canopies of trees , great mix of flat and undulating fairways , mountain view, scattered mist and low lying clouds characterize this place. Worth every mile to make the trip for some stunning golf in the high country.

Great fall golf
Played for the first time and loved it, wish I could make it again before they close for the season Nov 8. Extremely well maintained, variety of difficulty, friendly staff and good pace. Real nice gps carts (a recent addition I believe) with the map showing no-cart zones. The Par 3s killed me, so hope you have better luck. Slopes add a nice challenge for sure. Can't beat the setting, nor the value. Highly recommend.
Beautiful layout
Great staff...fairways are very nice..greens are outstanding. Always a treat to play Boone !
Drunken Wedding Party
Pace of Play - Actual rating ZERO out of Five stars.
Two groups of five (5) playing in front of us. The round took 5 hours, The group in front of us was known to the starter as “The Wedding Party”. Stone cold hammered drunks. All five of them. I doubt there was a single one of them that was less than a 26 handicap, yet, they felt the need to play from the back (blue tees). Two of them couldn’t even hit it past the ladies tees. With that said, numerous times they were hitting their second shots with their pants down around their ankles. (enjoy that visual image in your mind’s eye). We had a 1:44 tee time and finished in the dark! Enjoyed everything about the course and we will be back, however, we were very disappointed in the lack of enforcement by the ranger ( yes they have one on staff). The on board GPS kept telling us we were lagging behind pace on every hole beginning at hole #5, yet no one came out to see what the problem was …. 40 plus minuets behind in most cases. Hole #7 was RIDICULOUS! Music also blasting from their cart, Music was 80’s rock so not much of an issue, good tunes (LOL).
Love this Ellis Maples design!
Boone GC is a "must play" course if you're in the area. What a gem of a course! I drove 2 hours one way to play the course and it's well worth the drive.
Even though it's getting close to the end of the season, the course was in primo conditions. Fairways were lush, greens smooth and true, and my playing partners were awesome.
Kudos to all the staff for making Boone GC such a great place to play!
Fun layout in excellent condition
Course is in fantastic condition. Layout is fun and challenging. Highly recommend
1st timers in Boone, NC
The weather was perfect the course conditions were above average for a public course this late in the season. The tee boxes were pretty beat up but playable, the greens were I'm very good shape and difficult.
Great golf course, bad service
The course was in great shape. Greens putted well. It is a shame that as good the course was, the staff was the opposite. At check in hardly a word. The starter told us not to be in a hurry on the front nine because they start on 1 and 10 and we couldn't play hole 10 until after the last group on the front nine teed off. On hole 6 a ranger stopped us and told us to pick up the pace because we had to tee off on hole 10. He was very rude. I guess when you are the only course with in 30 minutes customer service is not a big deal.
Still Great
Was able to sneak away to the mountains this last weekend and squeeze in another round at Boone Golf Club. It is one of the best rounds you can find. The course is in great shape, its fun to play and the people are great. Go play here as much as you can. The only negative is that the course is packed out on Saturdays, so the pace of play is usually a little on the slow side. Just be prepared for a 4.5 hour round or so if you are playing on the weekend.
