Amazing!

After Hurricane Helene, the staff here has done a remarkable job returning this course to its glory. While most are misinformed leaving reviews, ( Tom in the pro shop is not over nor has input to maintenence of the course) the grounds crew is led by Mr Daniels who has been at the course for nearly 30 years. Everyone is so friendly in the pro shop, and on the course. And you will not find a better maintained course in the area, this includes all of the private clubs close by. Yes it’s a par 64, but bring your country club handicap here and it will be severely tested! If you haven’t played here, make an effort to do so!

Short course mostly par 3’s

Friendly staff at check in and starters. No water to drink anywhere on the course. One par 5 and 9 or 10 par 3’s. Some had majestic elevation change. Greens were ok not great.

Blue Ridge Beauty

This is my favorite golf course… it captures the beauty of the mountains. Kudos to the groundskeepers and staff for the care and attention they pay in maintaining this course. If you haven’t played the Sugar Mountain course, treat yourself, and you will join me in praise of this “Blue Ridge Beauty”!

A short par-64 course that's long on fun, is affordable, and in excellent condition...

As a member at a country club with 4 championship courses I went into my first time playing the 4500 yard par-64 Sugar Mountain GC with limited expectations. Come to find out that it's a true test of golf skills, a beautiful course, and in terrific shape. The small greens were fairly fast, contoured and challenging, and surrounded by thick rough. The entire course was in great shape considering the number of rounds played per season. One thing to keep in mind is that there is no driving range. Highly recommend. Great value.

Oh, my!

We've been to Sugar Mountain numerous times, but, this is the 1st time playing this municipal course. That's right, municipal!! It's an executive course, and you must use all of your clubs. All around, fantastic course, but beware the devious 4th hole. Get past that demon, and you're rewarded on the next one with maybe the prettiest hole in golf.

Beautiful. Difficult coarse

Beautiful layed out. Not a long coarse but some fairways are narrow. Greens have lots of breaks.

Great Course

Played here on a Saturday afternoon with a friend and made it maybe halfway through the round before we were talking about coming back again. The mountain views were excellent, staff was friendly and helpful, and the course was in superb condition. Course is fairly short, but the fairways are tight and can absolutely punish you for missing them. I really enjoyed the layout, even though I donated a few balls. Greens are well kept, especially considering how dry it’s been. Pace of play was also zero issue. Can’t get much better bang for your buck than this place.

Love Sugar Mtn

Course was in good condition for early in the season and the grounds crew has done yeoman's work since Helene destroyed the property. In about 2 weeks, the greens will be back to their typical diabolical speed and difficulty. Staff is A++.
