Blue Mountain View Golf Course

This won't be a straight forward review to bear with me.

The price was pretty low for a Sunday afternoon. Can't imagine it getting much cheaper. Course is not long, so you get to play the blue's <wink wink>. I saw the scorecard listed the front tees as "Ladies" which is over a decade old. they should change that to forward tees. I know women who would find the blue's here short. Women are the fastest growing part of the sport now.

Greens were fast and consistent. Consistency is important and I found them a good challenge. I had to consider where I put my approach shots or chips if you wanted to avoid 3 putts.

The rough was long at some spots. I saw other reviewers complain about it, but the fairways are wide, trees weren't usually a consideration, so for me, I liked the challenge of the short game and putting. It compensated for the easy fairways. if you want a totally easy course without ANY challenge .... ??

Tee boxes were ok, traps seemed ok but I didn't get in any and honestly forgot to check them. Water in play on a few holes, including dry or near dry streams, but read your GPS and lay up or crush over them. None were punitive.

Fairways would have been mowed a bit more at paces, but only once did I feel penalized by the long grass.

We didn't use the clubhouse or order food, so I can't comment there.

For the location they draw the locals well, and it's not a top course, but you aren't paying top dollar either. I believe the course fits the price and clients, and low handicappers can work on their short game.

The fairways were like the first cut of rough. The rough itself was like Oakmont during a US Open. Place looked like it hadn’t been mowed since last season. Should have been a $25 round versus the $45 I paid. I felt like I had cut my way through the Amazon with a machete for 4 hours.

Golfed by myself on a Wednesday morning and I’ve also golfed other mid week days in mornings and afternoons and the course is filled with 80+ y/os. No matter when I come the course is packed with leagues and to play 9 holes alone took me 2 hours which is horrendous. I could play 9 holes at other courses in 1 hr 15 min - 1 hr 30 min. Staff is not friendly and only caters to the older players. I’ve been here about 20 times nd I or here because it’s so close to my house and relatively cheap. DO NOT golf here if you are expecting a faster pace of play.

I was very pleased with course layout and it's use of natural landscaping. However 2 items I did not expect: 1. Fairways needed to be mowed. Losing ball or taking an inordinate amount of time to find ball ihigh grass only slows play and it's frustrating.

2. Greens exceptionally fast. I suspect stimpmeter of al least 11. Not expected on family friendly course.

Overall we enjoyed our play. What we made up in fairways we lost on greens. Good experience overall.

Greens are fantastic and fairway grass is average for a public course. Layout was really fun and challenging. Visually it is challenging and has a little bit of everything: elevation, streams, ponds and sloped greens.

I drove and hour to play and would drive an hour again to play.

This course was nice. They don’t have a great starting method. A true starter would reall make a difference. We were behind 3 “two-somes”. And we actually didn’t get started until about 10-15 mins after our tee time. The course itself was in good shape. It was a little slow but being a holiday weekend thy was expected. It is relatively forgiving in that you can’t get into too much trouble, but it was was challenging enough!

Course has a few challenging greens and is well kept. Always enjoy playing here!

Surprise surprise .. another beautiful course in central Pa. course was groomed well, greens were challenging, fairways were great, rough was rough as it should but the rewards on this course will bring me back again

Was a nice course. Played as a twosome in 3 hours. Played early so maybe the reason why. Fun course, good condition. Pretty open and did not have to worry about other golfers hitting into your fairways. Staff was friendly even during pandemic. Would recommend and play again. Good value for money, 42$ for a weekend morning tee time

I was not going to because of the forecast but glad I made the drive. Course had few players on it so it was easy for me to hit multiple shots. I played the back tees die to it only being 6000. Hardly any sand but the greens did have some slope to them. Wet conditions made the ball just stop. The tee boxes were overgrown but other than that the course was in good shape.
