Ambassador at Hickory Valley Golf Club
About
Hickory Valley Golf Club boasts two 18-hole, regulation-length courses, named the Ambassador and the Presidential. The Ambassador Course is the shorter of the two at 6,450 yards but it still offers a fair test. The classic layout is routed through towering hardwoods forests that stretch to over 70 feet high. The tall hickory trees loom over the fairways. The small greens are sloped back to front, presenting a challenge for even the most seasoned players. Water hazards come into play on several holes and there are a few tricky doglegs to contend with. The bunkering is minimal but the abundant trees will be enough to keep you on your toes. The golf course has some challenging holes but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

They have 2 great courses here .
I was very happy .the course is in great shape add a great place to place for the money . I've played the other course what is always very challenging .This one less challenging but many many good holes.
Nice atmosphere, Good Golf Course
Nice conditions, well maintained. Helpful staff, good value for your greens fees.
Reasonably maintained, reasonably priced, but a poor layout.
This course is nicely maintained and reasonably priced but not much fun to play because it has ridiculous pin placements on severe mounds and about ten thousand too many trees. There are many holes where you need to play a big cut or draw just to get the ball in play because of overhanging trees and numerous poorly placed water hazards.
Great Course- Ambassador
On March 30th the new grass had yet to start growing, but the course was firm (unlike other area courses that are wet in Spring), clear of debris, and the greens were in good shape considering how early it was. Can't wait to come back in June/July.
I like the course because each hole offers a unique challenge even though the track is fairly level. Holes that look easy can creep up and bite you with a double bogey if you are not careful.
Course was in good shape considering the weather the area has had.
Really enjoyed playing this course with my 16 year old son. Was a good course for two players that just started playing last year.
Was well worth the price we paid and well worth the 2 hour drive it took to get there. We will play here again this summer.
The only down fall for us on this course was the yardage wasn't marked well.
Good Winter Golf
For January play, the course was in great shape. Good value for the money. As a bonus, I got to use my sand wedge to chip out of the snow in the bunkers- my best shot of the day!
Good Course
Presidential is a good course. It was in really good shape, and fair test. Mostly flat, a bit narrower on the back 9, but fun to play.
great condition, challnging and quick play
The course was in terrific shape for late November, few leaves and the greens were fast. Played in 4 hours. Reaslly felt like we stole a day for thjis time of year in the Northeast. I would definitely recommend the course to friends. Look forward to laying it again.
OK course
This course is OK. We play it's much better sister course, Presidential, quite often, and found this course to be OK. Small greens, most of which are steeply sloped making for tough putts from above the hole. Very flat land with a little bit of water coming into play. Conditioning was good. Distances between tee boxes and greens on a few holes are very close. All in all, not as good as Presidential, but OK.
This course can play quite difficulty.
The sand traps are the worst traps I have ever played.
I Love Playing Here
I love playing here on weekday twilight rates - great value, not crowded, and course is always in excellent condition. Although the Presidential course looks nicer, the Ambassador course is equally fun and by no means inferior. There is a good mix of holes and the greens putt true. The dog legs are very reasonable and accuracy is a must.
Nice course for the price
The course was in very good condition and the greens were rolling well. Though the course, can be a little challenging from the gold tees, it is a fair course and is very enjoyable to play. This time of year, there are a lot of leaves in the rough and so there is a 50% chance of losing your ball if you can't keep the ball in the fairway. The staff is very friendly and the off-season price makes this course a great bargain. The only complaint I would have is that there are not any holes in the practice putting green; the holes were removed recently. The driving range only allows irons but at least you can warm up before playing. I give it a thumbs up.
Decent condition but gimicky
Greens looked in good shape but were very shaggy/bumpy. They also had the habit of putting pin locations on top of or at the base of major breaks. They did not offer a pin location card or colored flags to indicate pin location. A lot of the doglegs are 90 degrees or more and at an odd yardage (where 3 wood might be too much on a long par 4). They varied the par 3 lengths nicely though.
Presidential Course Wonderful on a Sunday Afternoon
Played the Presidential course and it was in very good condition - well maintained. It was a beautiful day and we had groups in front of us and in back, but it was not overcrowded. The only thing I would ask them to improve would be adding yardage markers in the fairways (I didn't see any, but luckily I had a GPS). The rates can't be beat and everyone is friendly!
Not bad
Good value for the money. This was a fun course in pretty good condition.
Great challenging greens, with long dog legs, perfect for an experienced golfer!!
Hickory Valley has never disappointed me when it comes to a well maintained challenging course. No matter which course you play, either the Presidential or the Ambassador, your going to find yourself on a players course with many decisions on how to play your shot! Impressive par 3's and beautiful layouts of the longer holes. Even better then how the course plays and looks is probably the price. This is one of my favorite courses to play that's always under 50 dollars, and to top it off; they have a driving range to warm up with!
After playing both courses, the presidential was better conditioned with more character
I played both Ambassador and Presidential. The Presidential had more character and was in better condition. It has a fun design. There regular prices are high but Golf Now made it affordable. I would play there again but only through Golf Now.
Better than average public course
Played Presidential course, which as a public course, is somewhat more challenging than most and has a few pretty interesting holes. Despite statements from pro shop and a hot day, beverage cart was nowhere to be seen or found even though no drinking water available on course and course snack bar was closed. "19th Hole" food/beverage area nothing to write home about. Course does not accept Victory Golf Pass, which is a negative and makes the course relatively pricey in relation to conditions and amenities. Pace of play was adequate, although my partner and I did have to play through a couple other twosomes. Course maintenance was a little spotty, although adequate overall. Quite a trek from northwest Philadelphia where I live.

Actually you can hit woods on the driving range I am an employee there and the sign on the range is old they took down the fence so we can pick the field behind the ctual range
