Ambassador at Hickory Valley Golf Club
About
Hickory Valley Golf Club boasts two 18-hole, regulation-length courses, named the Ambassador and the Presidential. The Ambassador Course is the shorter of the two at 6,450 yards but it still offers a fair test. The classic layout is routed through towering hardwoods forests that stretch to over 70 feet high. The tall hickory trees loom over the fairways. The small greens are sloped back to front, presenting a challenge for even the most seasoned players. Water hazards come into play on several holes and there are a few tricky doglegs to contend with. The bunkering is minimal but the abundant trees will be enough to keep you on your toes. The golf course has some challenging holes but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

Great Course
We played the Ambassador course early in the morning. This round has fun. The course doesn't have many elevation changes but the the course is still challenging with tough greens. I play front the back tees. The fairways and greens were in excellent shape. We will decimate oh be ha k to play the Presidential course very soon. This course is a hidden gem about 30 minute outside of Norristown.
Best course in the Gilbertsville area
The course is in excellent condition. The tees, fairways, and greens are as good as many private clubs. The staff was extremely friendly and treated us like we were members.
Very Nice Experience.
Grounds were in excellent shape. Greens were in exceptional condition. Late May round, couldn't have been happier.
Following a damp week, the course played a little long. a good value and challenge.
We played late afternoon on a damp day but the course held up well. rough was difficult in places but fairways are wide. Played in a mixed foursome and still played in just under four hours. The women in the group found the length appropriate to their game.
Thanks for an affordable afternoon!
great course
in good condition and a very nice coursmaine.. pristine fairways..well maintained greens and just a great layout
Always up to par
I've played the Hickory Valley Pres. course four times now in the last 2 years and every time I'm done I leave with the impression that I have to get back there. Course has always been in great shape, and the greens are nice for the price.
All around nice people, from the pro shop to the snack bar. Great place to go shoot 36, with the Ambassador course right there.
Nice scenery, practice area, and overall great course condition left us looking forward to going back...
This course requires shot making
played in 3.5 hours with an 8 am teetime. course was fairy crowded too. greens were in great shape and fairways too
will be back often
Carts need wind shield
Beautiful, Fun course in great shape on a perfect day.
They have 2 great courses here .
I was very happy .the course is in great shape add a great place to place for the money . I've played the other course what is always very challenging .This one less challenging but many many good holes.
Nice atmosphere, Good Golf Course
Nice conditions, well maintained. Helpful staff, good value for your greens fees.
Reasonably maintained, reasonably priced, but a poor layout.
This course is nicely maintained and reasonably priced but not much fun to play because it has ridiculous pin placements on severe mounds and about ten thousand too many trees. There are many holes where you need to play a big cut or draw just to get the ball in play because of overhanging trees and numerous poorly placed water hazards.
Great Course- Ambassador
On March 30th the new grass had yet to start growing, but the course was firm (unlike other area courses that are wet in Spring), clear of debris, and the greens were in good shape considering how early it was. Can't wait to come back in June/July.
I like the course because each hole offers a unique challenge even though the track is fairly level. Holes that look easy can creep up and bite you with a double bogey if you are not careful.
Course was in good shape considering the weather the area has had.
Really enjoyed playing this course with my 16 year old son. Was a good course for two players that just started playing last year.
Was well worth the price we paid and well worth the 2 hour drive it took to get there. We will play here again this summer.
The only down fall for us on this course was the yardage wasn't marked well.
Good Winter Golf
For January play, the course was in great shape. Good value for the money. As a bonus, I got to use my sand wedge to chip out of the snow in the bunkers- my best shot of the day!
Good Course
Presidential is a good course. It was in really good shape, and fair test. Mostly flat, a bit narrower on the back 9, but fun to play.
great condition, challnging and quick play
The course was in terrific shape for late November, few leaves and the greens were fast. Played in 4 hours. Reaslly felt like we stole a day for thjis time of year in the Northeast. I would definitely recommend the course to friends. Look forward to laying it again.
OK course
This course is OK. We play it's much better sister course, Presidential, quite often, and found this course to be OK. Small greens, most of which are steeply sloped making for tough putts from above the hole. Very flat land with a little bit of water coming into play. Conditioning was good. Distances between tee boxes and greens on a few holes are very close. All in all, not as good as Presidential, but OK.
This course can play quite difficulty.
The sand traps are the worst traps I have ever played.
I Love Playing Here
I love playing here on weekday twilight rates - great value, not crowded, and course is always in excellent condition. Although the Presidential course looks nicer, the Ambassador course is equally fun and by no means inferior. There is a good mix of holes and the greens putt true. The dog legs are very reasonable and accuracy is a must.
Nice course for the price
The course was in very good condition and the greens were rolling well. Though the course, can be a little challenging from the gold tees, it is a fair course and is very enjoyable to play. This time of year, there are a lot of leaves in the rough and so there is a 50% chance of losing your ball if you can't keep the ball in the fairway. The staff is very friendly and the off-season price makes this course a great bargain. The only complaint I would have is that there are not any holes in the practice putting green; the holes were removed recently. The driving range only allows irons but at least you can warm up before playing. I give it a thumbs up.
