Noon start
Friendly staff in pro shop / restaurant. Challenging course makes every club in your bag a must use. Lots of great views of mountains and valleys, a few glimpses of Lake Wallenpaupack along with a few deer in the middle of fairways eating. Greens were in excellent condition, fairways were in very good condition, rough was in good condition with a few bare spots. Fast pace (3-1/2 hrs) as noon start on hot day didn’t bring crowds out. Cost per person seems about the same or a little lower for what most Pocono courses fees are set at. Being a senior, senior rates are quite a bit more than most courses in the Poconos
First time playing the course
Great layout, nice elevation changes, but the course showed the effect of a lot of play. Club house burned down 4 years ago and they never rebuilt it. No pro shop, just a cash register.
Nice course. Challenging.
Course was in great shape with the exception of 90% of the bunkers being overgrown with grass and cement hard sand. Greens roll true but very fast, in combination with tough pin locations it was brutal putting. Pace of place wasn't good, over 5 hrs for 18. No ranger pushing the slower foursomes. Overall if you want a challenge the elevation and wind here makes for a fun and/or frustrating round.
It's back
It was wonderful to play this course again. It is amazing to find it in such good shape after being closed for several years. The greens are in great shape and the fairways were good. The sand traps are being worked on. The views are inspiring.
tlc
just opening in may the was in good shape by next year greens should grow in as well the roughs and fairways sand traps were getting filled in should be a good course to play in years to come
Glad you’re back!
Without Golf Pass I would have never known you were back open. I played the course years ago to my liking. The last time before yesterday I played the course years ago, the conditions were lousy. I played yesterday with my son and found the conditions to be awesome! Whoever are the new owners I wish you all the luck because you’ve already have the course in great shape!! The wildlife roaming around add to the beauty of the course. We will be back without a doubt. Keep advertising on Golf Pass. It gets the word out. I will say anybody looking for a new place to play, give Paupack Hills a try..
Pocono Golf Near Lake Wallenpaupack
I had been vacationing in Hawley, PA for two weeks. I usually play a few rounds at the resorts golf course. However, this year I had decided to play at golf courses in the nearby area. Paupack Hills Golf Course had several good reviews so I decided to reserve a tee time for nine holes. I wish I had time to play the entire 18 holes. The front nine holes offered several challenges in the way of tree lined fairways, while also offering birdie chances. There was also a very inviting elevated tee box to a wide open fairway, which I assume is typical to mountain golf courses. The fairways were in good shape. The rough though thick in many places, also have many spots close to the fairways that were more forgiving. The greens were decent shape. They were firm and putts rolled faster then expected and had slight undulations that made putting challenging.. I plan to play this course next year when I am in town, but I will reserve for the full 18 holes. The course conditions, the playability and challenge this course offers is worth the price. Which to be honest , is much cheaper then other well known mountain courses in the Pocono area.
rebirth of the course
What a wonderful surprise to find that the golf course was reopened. The greens were in excellent condition and the fairways were very good. Work is being done on the sand traps. It has beautiful views and is challenging.
