Fitting of area
Good value, this last round was Father's day and it was soaked, water in every cup, but typically course conditions are quite nice. It's appropriately priced and maintained for the area, it seems a touch harder than some other courses in the area, the fairways and pair 3's are accessible, but the greens are more interesting than other courses. Sand adds to more difficulty on approach, but it's at least well maintained. It's probably most similar to Flatbush or Quail Valley, it's slightly nicer then National or Cedar Ridge, but it's not the Links or Black Rock, and it's priced as such.
Did not have to wait
There was a group of 5 ahead of us. However there was no one behind us. So we were able to play several balls to avoid having to sit and wait which worked out perfectly. Course was in good shape except cart paths could use some attention.
Great course, carts need help
The North course needs a little attention to make it as nice as the South course. All of the greens were in great shape. These courses have been around for a while so the cart paths have a lot a root bumps, etc. Unfortunately the carts have been around for a while, too, and need some attention (shocks, seats). All in all, these are two courses that we always enjoy and did this time too.
South Hills Hanover Pa
Course is in great shape. Excellent staff! Joey
Wildasin is a great instructor!
Spring 2015 at South Hills
Mid week round; weather was cold, quite windy. Course was surprisingly accessible and dry (scatter cart rules) for just one day after torrential rains in the area. Tee boxes and fairways in excellent shape. Greens a bit splotchy/rough - did not appear to be punched and sanded - perhaps just slowly growing in for the season. Played South then North, which are the best, most challenging and classic 9's at this course IMO. Only downside to condition was the North traps; for the most part, they are in dire need of fresh sand.
I like this course overall; it's a great value in this area; staff are very accommodating, and if you catch it on a weekday (with iffy weather), mostly devoid of golfers. Classic layout with some difficult holes.
Great bang for your buck
One of my favorite courses to play. 3 different 9's to choose from, all are great. The west 9 has some of my favorite water holes including a true island green par3. This course is always in great condition year round. Its regular prices are a great deal, getting a round under a hot deal feels like stealing! And if u wanna play all 27 holes it's only $7 more. I've played here about 20 times and have always been pleased. The club house and restrooms are out dated but the food is good and pricing isn't thru the roof.
Good shape
Brutal winter here. Course in good shape despite the winter. Greens were ok for this time of year. Bunkers had no rakes but sand was very nice. South more difficult than West.
Fun course
it's a fun course that can challenge you at times. Normally pretty good condition and has some cool features and the greens are nice. Can't beat it for the price.
South Hills
Course is as hard as a rock due to lack of rain. Many areas should be over seeded to promote grass growth.
fast play at the time
South Hills Golf Course gave me a very good experience I would recommend this course to anyone.
Excellent Day Even with Tournament
Course was in excellent condition for August. Only negative thing to say carts were in horrible condition. Not clean either. Traded for ground keeper cart which was in excellent condition.
good course for golfing value
Excellent weather and a good day. Good course for money paid as a golfnow special
Good course
I played South/West with a friend and scored my personal best round of the year. I like this course because it has a moderate mixture of wild and hilly with well-cared for fairways and greens. The hills can be a bit challenging sometimes, especially on dry days when your ball will just keep rolling with the contour of the hill if you don't land it on correct side of the fairway. The 27 holes gives this course quite a bit of variety.
fairways
Good shape but starting to brown out in some spots of the fairways but very playable.
There was a mix up with date and time but the staff handled it perfectly. It was my mistake!
27 Hole Flexibility
The 27 hole layout makes South Hills an opportune location to play 18 holes in under 4 hours. While the course is not extremely long it does require accuracy. Shaded tees and asphalt paths could use some work as well as the men's restroom could use an expansion. Despite the criticisms the pace of play, beauty of the course, and friendliness of the staff make this course #1 on my play list.
needs help
not very good condition, greens were bad, overall would not recommend.was nice a few years ago but not being taken care of.
Great Day of golf
Staff was great, course was in good shape and we had a great outing.
May 3
Very few yardage markers. Few ball washers or water stations. Aerated greens made putting unpredictable. Tee boxes already chewed up and not level. Disappointing!
Normally I love south hills
Got kicked off on hole 8, I guess the person working the proshop wanted to go home. Had some new player to the game and my kids (13&10) with me, play was slower but we teed off at 5:45 and kicked off at 7:45 on hole 8. It was a waste of money and time, should have stayed in York to play.
