$60 is a little much
Great course to play. Challenging from the back tees. Greens got punched a few weeks before and didn’t fully recover when played but ran pretty fast. Wouldn’t play it for the price they charge. Got a hot deal so it was well worth it. Overall a nice place
Very Nice Layout
Dauphin Highlands offers players a very interesting and fair test. There are no 'copy' holes - though #1 and #3 are quite similar. Conditions are consistently good.
Elevation changes make this a difficult course to walk unless you're young or very fit.
Food amenities are minimal - no cart service and no 'real' bathrooms on the course.
Best course in the area
This is a hotpot for some decent golf, but DH is definitely amongst the best to play. A good balance of straightforward holes and challenging holes.
Challenging game
Overall good layout with several challenging features
Stupid green aeration policy !!!!!
Let me first say this used to be one of my top 3 courses to play in the last 20 years. Since Billy Casper Mgmt. took over the quality of experience has dropped dramatically. The last few years their aeration policy defies logic. For at least 5 consecutive rounds over last season and this (spring/summer) a partial/random aerification has been done to either half of individual greens or a significant number of entire greens while the remaining greens are untouched. Never knowing which greens will have sand or punch hole or both is a real bummer when playing here . I've asked the staff about this and haven't gotten much .of an answer, as they seem to not care about PAYING CUSTOMER feedback. Great course for the past 2 decades until Casper took over and aeration policy has driven me and my friends away, probably 40 or 50 total rounds /year. !
Slow play as tee times are to close
Ever since Billy Casper golf management has taken over this course they get as many people on the course as possible creating a very slow play experience. Tee times are to close making for backups of sometimes 4 groups per hole. I still play here because I enjoy the course, sad that is being managed so poorly.
Extremely Disappointing, Not Worth It.
Incredibly disappointing. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens are all so poorly maintained that it’s barely worth playing. It’s only April and the tee boxes are already completely chewed up. The fairways are loaded with divots. The greens have so many pitch marks on them that you can’t find a clean putting line to save your life. A local guy I was paired with said that people don’t fix divots or pitch marks there. Apparently the greenskeepers don’t bother doing it, either. The bunkers were in pretty decent shape and the course has the potential to be pretty nice, but there’s zero emphasis placed on course maintenance. They also jammed tee times together and stuck random singles in between groups, so things were ridiculously backed up. I paid for a range bucket and the machine told me that my code had already been used 5 minutes prior to when I purchased the bucket. The golf carts are old and barely make it up some of the hills on the course, even when you’re on the path. The tee time was cheap, but I wouldn’t waste my time or money going back. I realize that I’m biased because I’m from the Philly area where we are spoiled for well maintained public courses, but there’s no excuse for this course to be this poor. The only thing that earned a second star was the course layout. The layouts of the holes were fun and decently challenging. Bunker placement forced me to play strategically and not just blindly smack drives down the fairway. Elevation changes also made some of the holes more interesting. If you don’t place a premium on course quality and just want to get out and play, then by all means this will be fine. However, if you keep a handicap and want to play a course that is maintained the way a course reasonably should be, don’t waste your time and money. I shudder to think what this course will look like in another month or two if it’s this bad now. Shame on the maintenance staff and the superintendent for allowing it to get this bad. Google maps won’t let me review the course and the most recent review is 5 months old. There’s clearly an effort to avoid negative reviews here, so be wary of this course.
