I’ve had it with this course
Where do i start? hmmm, the pro shop workers. I’ve played this course twice before today. I’ve shown up 20 minutes early or so to practice my putts, and somehow the pro shop worker made us wait an extra 10 minutes to tee because it seemed another group was more important. Everytime that i’ve played here with myself and a friend, we’ve been forced by the pro shop worker to allow a random third. Id understand if i were a solo too, but I simply can’t play by myself because of their lack of schedule planning? Cart warden: i was approached due to my cart being a foot or so off the path. I then proceeded to watch him pass a mid-age fellow who did it not once, but twice in front of his eyes. I feel slightly discriminated due to age.
course quality: fairways were decent, rough was a foot long at some locations. greens were nice (besides the ones covered in goose crap.) I’ve played a few courses locally, and id emphasis that you read this and try those instead. Will not be coming back, and my expectations for a course aren’t high.
Great Value
Greens were not in the best shape and the tee boxes could be cut a little shorter but otherwise I enjoyed the course. The views from most holes were awesome and I would definitely play here again!
Excellent course for golf
Enjoyed playing golf with friends. Perfect weather and layut!
Good place to enjoy golf
Good weather to play golf with friends at a excellent place.
Rough extremely long
US open length rough. They were mowing fairways during our round (8am Saturday)
Actually finished last 4 holes on fairways that looked like normal rough
Don’t suggest playing
Starting off the course condition was awful. Mowing was terrible leaving the grass way to high in the fairways and rough also dozens of missed patches all of every fairway. Tee boxes had high grass and sand bunkers were harder than a brick and didn’t seem like they have ever seen a rake before.
Bad condition
Absolutely terrible, cart path only whole course, grass very tall, Marshall following you on a regular basis. Will not play again
Go somewhere else
Course conditions were pretty bad. On a lot of holes you could not distinguish the fairways from the rough. Most greens were burnt out with debris all over them. Most putts were bumpy. The weather had been nice all week but they decided to mow on a rainy Saturday morning. The course is way overpriced for the condition it is in. It is, at best, a $20 round. You'd be wise to go elsewhere..
Worst course in central pa
Horrible staff. They do not want to work their full shift so they will kick you off early. Not worth the money.
Enjoying spring golf
Great scenery and great spring golf. Well informed from the clubhouse, cart path only, as the area had seen rain. Excellent fairways and greens. True putts were surprisingly fast. Easy to get to from I-81.
Decent practice course
It's a good course to get out and swing, better than a par 3 course, but not somewhere I look forward to playing. I had a last minute idea to go play the night before I did, and couldn't pass up the $15.99 hot deal price. You can't beat that price no matter what condition the course is in. It's a relatively short course (except for hole #14 haha) and the greens will challenge anyone. However, the fairways are the same as the rough at most other courses, very shaggy. So not much roll, and the ball will sit down, tough to find even in the fairway half the time. In the 1st cut rough, you are severely punished, tough to find the ball many times. I utilize Sportsmans as a warm up round foelr the season just to get out and swing.
Rude Staff
This course let me book a 1:20 tee time for 18 holes on 2/10. I didn't think my twosome would have any problems finishing 18 holes until I got to the course and saw the message on their chalkboard saying "all golfers off the course by 4:45." I thought this message was old given that it's currently getting dark around 6 pm. I was wrong. We got to the 16th tee around 4:30 and had a ranger drive by and tell us that was our last hole, even though there was at least an hour of daylight left. That was bad enough. We were hitting our shots around the 16th green when a different ranger came by and yelled at us for still playing. This guy was yelling at me for chipping onto the green and being incredibly rude. I tried to get his attention to ask if we'd get a partial refund since we paid for 18 holes but he just ignored me and drove off. I used to play here every week in a league with my dad and my uncle. My uncle passed away unexpectedly a few years ago so I like playing Sportsmans to remember him. That said, I don't think I'll play here again after the way I was treated. This course is usually in awful shape. It's always a soggy mess, even in the middle of a dry spell, pock marked with
divots, and covered in goose poop. You'd think they'd treat the people playing it nicely given that but you would be wrong. There are better options locally that are more well maintained and similar in price. I recommend you look elsewhere.
