Great course for the money
Excellent old style layout. Course well maintained except for bunkers which had not been raked in a long time. Greens healthy and true but slow. Great course for $23.
Berkleigh Golf Club
Real nice, need to get back there ASAP! Tee boxes nice, fairways great and greens run true, overall very plush.
Perfectly difficult
This course is well kept and beautiful. It's the reflect amount of difficult. It was frustrating but very fun to play. I will definitely play again and be spreading the word of how great this course is.
Berkleigh Country Club
Former private club. Beautiful, mature course. Well maintained. Facilities are a bit outdated but if you're here to play golf, you can't go wrong.
A Must play
I wanted to play this course for years and just never found the time. I played it yesterday and totally enjoyed the experience. The course was in great shape and challenging.
Great day
Course is in much better condition than when I played earlier in the season. Rough is just that and very penal so stay out of there. Clubhouse guy was rude, had me standing there waiting while he spoke on the phone to a friend, not a golfer. Hot dog I purchased in the club house was awful. Aside of those two negatives, it was a great day and a great round. Pace of play was the best I had all year at various courses.
Decent Track
Fairly straight forward course with lots of gentle uphill and downhill shots. Wide fairways and huge greens, with trees lining up just about every fairway. Watch for the creek that cuts across a few fairways. Greens were nice - not too fast and not too slow.
Nice layout
It's obvious the course was once private...the layout is very good. It also obvious the course is now public as evidenced by the pace of play and the condition of the greens. The play was slow and the greens had not been cut or rolled providing a frustrating putting experience.
Tough rough
Good old course. Rough was deep, and no first cut. Greens were very slow probably due to recent rain. Cruised through in 3:30, which makes golf fun.
Home of the Betsy King LPGA tournament
Course was in good shape. the greens were aerated
and a little bumpy.
This is the course Betsy King had her golf tournament.
Fun Course
This is definitely a fun, yet challenging and LONG course. Played in Autumn so we got slowed down looking for balls in the leaves. But overall, a great course and will definitely play it again in the Spring or Summer.
Very good course, Incedible value.
I have played Berkleigh six times this year and it has been in good to very good condition each time. It is an old-style course which, I believe, opened in the 1920's. It was a private club until seven or so years ago. There is a good variety of holes, some short, a few long, especially from the blue tees. The two par threes on the back nine are very good - the first about 200 yards from the white tee to a well protected green and the second 185 yards over a pond from an elevated tee. The greens are well bunkered and have interesting, but not ridiculous, contours. I got an incredibly good price through GolfNow. I also played there the next day at the regular price, and it was still a bargain.
Classic mature course
Classic golf course with lots of elevation changes and high rough. A number of blind shots but fairways are wide and fair, Fast and tricky greens. Long drive from Philadelphia but well worth the trip.
Well-maintained, long and wide open with some tough par 3's
Really well-maintained course. Not a lot of variety from hole to hole, but very long and tough pin placements. No water, but plenty of sand traps. Best value for the experience I have found near the Lehigh Valley!
Greens and tees are in good shape
Fairways could use some work. Cart paths are not well marked.
Not bad!
I think they over act and react toward the customer. It's a nice course, but NOT that elite. The pro shop staff was pushy and snotty. I also don't like when someone comes and takes our clubs and is not as careful with them as they should be. Except for no marshal any where to be found, which was surprising since they were so pushy earlier and the pace of play extremely slow, NOT BAD!
Really nice course
The course was in really great shape Tee to Green. The fairways were very nice, rough was moderately thick, and the greens were very good (great). The layout is reasonably accepting to errant drives with a limit, with the limit usually being the tree line. There are several creek crossings in the landing area of your drive so caution on some holes is warranted. The staff was very accommodating but I thought the snack shop closed a little early. One of the nicest courses in the area and overall a great day.
Awful service; so get on the course as soon as you can and you'll have a great time.
This course is challenging yet playable. Fairways and greens are kept exceptionally well along with the tee boxes. Employees, specifically the lady I dealt with was rude and made us feel unwelcome but once on the course I can say that this is one of the nicer courses of berks county.
Not good shape for the green fees charged.
Rough was extra high as it has rained a lot recently.
Pace of play was slow and there was no ranger to speed play.
Greens were not in good shape
GolfNow.com's green fees are the same as what they charge at pro-shop.
Great mix of holes
Just love this course. Kind of feels like a Pocono Course without having to drive that far. Wide open yet challenging. I don't think there is a hole there I don't like. Staff are very accommodating and friendly.

I used to be a member of Berkleigh C.C. 10-12 years ago before they closed and turned public. I feared the course would have been neglected, but was pleasantly surprised. It's been a good year for golf courses anyway, with the cooler weather and average rainfall. The rough was thick as it used to be. The greens held, but were slower than before. The sand traps had a lot of dirt and clay. If the current owners would improve the sand traps, and roll and cut the greens, it would be the exact same course that had an annual LPGA event. It always was a great layout. Still, for the money, I'd rather play this course than several other public clubs in the Lehigh Valley area.
