The course was in great shape for this time of year.
This course has plenty of challenges, from the hilly lies in the fairways to the up and down hill tee shots. A good test for everyone.
Great course.
Our tee time was 3:30 pm. We did not wait for any one in front of us, and the only players behind us that we saw was a twosome who we let play through. Course was in excellent shape with exceptions of the bunkers which because of the heavy rain the day before were for the most part unplayable. Either they still had standing water or were "washed" out. The rest of the course was pristine. Really enjoyed playing a course where the LPGA used to play. Great value for the cost.
Great value as a hot deal
This course was challenging, (6800 yards from the tips) with blind tee shots and tough layup areas. The course was in very good condition except for the bunkers which tended to be very hard in some areas. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. If you can find a good deal this course is definitely worth playing.
best value around in public golf
I have played Berkleigh twice this year.. First time on Memorial Day and also again in June... Some major golf magazines had rated Berkleigh in the top 10 of Pennsylvania public courses and after playing twice... I agree.. Berkleigh is well maintained and has very good greens.. The course plays longer than listed due to the elevation changes.. The teeth of the course is from holes 11-15 and if you can get past those holes without blowing your round, you are a fine player.. From the burbs of Philly, its an hour and 10 min ride and well worth the trip.. If you put a course like this close to Philly, the price would be double what they charge..
course was in excellent condition
ist. time playing the course and it will not be the last. of all the courses I have played in this area, yours, by far, is the best.july 11th.
All around great club
Very friendly staff, course is well maintained, pace of play was awesome, I have nothing but great things to say about the course!
Nice layout, good shape, bunker sand inconsistent
Enjoyed the layout, speed of the greens (fast for a public course), and slope of the greens without going overboard (though some pin placements were a little close to decent size breaks). All in all a good course where I felt it was worth the hour long drive to get to. Nice elevation changes, nice size greens and in good condition.
I would have loved this course if not for some of the sand traps. One par 5 they had soft, white, fluffy sand in the fairway bunkers. I hit a shot that had enough steam to roll to top of trap, get caught by the lip at top and then roll back down to the center of the trap. Not a problem until I realized I had a semi-fried egg from rolling back down the trap. Up at the green they had courser sand but so little in the traps you would bounce off the dirt underneath. In fact the first hole the trap had the black lining underneath the sand sticking out due to so little sand. Also some holes one greenside bunker would have a very thin layer of the heavier sand but on the other side of the green a trap would have the white, fluffy beach sand.
