Middletown Country Club
About
Middletown Country Club has been one of Bucks County's major golfing destinations for more than a century. Originally designed as a nine-hole golf course in 1913 by Scottish architect Alexander Findlay, the second nine was added three years later. In the many years since opening, the golf course has undergone renovations by both George Fazio and Stephen Kay. This tough course is proof that a layout doesn't have to be 7,500-plus yards to be a challenge. Although the Middletown C.C. golf course plays to a seemingly modest yardage of 6,217 from the back tees, the rolling terrain provided by its location in the scenic Neshaminy Valley makes the course seem much longer. The small greens have plenty of undulations and you'll also be faced with a variety of uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies. There are also towering trees looming above the fairways and water comes into play throughout the golf course as well.

6th hole - par 3 Photo submitted by sixeagles on 11/19/2015
This course will just drop a group in front of you randomly…
The round started off great wide open no one slowing us down everyone was friends up until…. We were finishing the 9 th hole, as I chipped on the green the female ranger drove by with a group of golfers and just placed them on the 10th t-box. Mind there was no conversation, just bypassed us without saying a word, which made no sense.
On top of that we had 2 players in our group and here now we have 3 ultra slow players with no sense of pace or care in front which destroyed the whole back 9 as now we had to wait every shot and on every hole. The most ridiculous experience in a golf course I’ve ever had playing for almost 10 years now.
What has happened to Middletown Country Club?
As a resident of Middletown Township, I have played this course several times, although not in the 5 years at least. That said, I did expect better playing conditions. Tee boxes were all either bare, or loaded with crabgrass, meaning previously bare. Most greens and fairways were in decent shape. I appears new cart paths are in the works as there were many freshly formed dirt paths by a skid steer with a bucket.
No one was manning the "snack bar" at the 5th hole and no "cart girl" was roaming the course offering drinks or snacks. As a T1D, this made the day extremely challenging and dangerous.
For what they charge, better overall conditions is the expectation. I've played the course in past, in better shape. Hopefully, these things will be rectified before I consider booking another tee time at my "home course".
Disappointing conditions
Tee boxes in bad shape, weedy and some greens worn and abused. Since the course was in fair condition many players didn’t repair their ball marks on green.
Average
Been coming here for years and the course has stayed the same but the prices have gone up every year. Pace of play is slow because it's mostly old guys who get tuckered out by the back 9. Then you get the course officiants who blame you even though you're waiting for the groups of old guys with the 7 am tee time still playing at noon.
T Boxes
The course itself is in Decent condition …. The T Boxes R A Mess ….(butuTitUp) .. The Course has patches without Grass but overall a Very Pleasant Day !!!
Conditions were terrible
They should call this course crab grass golf club. Fairways and rough are 75% crab grass. Terrible experience. I want my money back.
Golf now
I grew up playing this course. Sad to see it so low rated. I would probably play here during the week more if they allowed you to make a single tee time when they have a dozen 2-4 available. Make it 1-4 during the week. If I get paired that’s fine but it would be nice to maybe have the chance to get out as a single when it’s not busy
Tough little course
Distances are short, tee boxes in bad condition, navigation between holes bewildering, and the layout endangers your life with the number of errant balls flying across tee boxes, however, the fairways are all either hilly or slanted adding an element of difficulty as well as the small, fast and undulating greens being the most challenging aspect of the course. Hard to stick and intimidating on downhill putts.
Great bang for your buck
Love this course because that is close to my house. Not very long but some challenging holes. Love the staff from the golf pro to the Ranger to the starter to the bartender all are very friendly!!
