Middletown Country Club

About
Middletown Country Club has been one of Bucks County's major golfing destinations for more than a century. Originally designed as a nine-hole golf course in 1913 by Scottish architect Alexander Findlay, the second nine was added three years later. In the many years since opening, the golf course has undergone renovations by both George Fazio and Stephen Kay. This tough course is proof that a layout doesn't have to be 7,500-plus yards to be a challenge. Although the Middletown C.C. golf course plays to a seemingly modest yardage of 6,217 from the back tees, the rolling terrain provided by its location in the scenic Neshaminy Valley makes the course seem much longer. The small greens have plenty of undulations and you'll also be faced with a variety of uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies. There are also towering trees looming above the fairways and water comes into play throughout the golf course as well.

Unfriendly
Starter was incredibly sour towards me. I am 66 yes old and came as a single player, paid and got my cart. Got to the starter and he made me get into a cart with a person that had never golfed before. I said I would pay extra for a cart by myself but he refused me, with an aggressive tone.
Tees boxes are mostly dirt and you can barely get a tee to stick In Them!
We apologize if you had anything but a 5 star experience at the course your last visit. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Course needs some TLC and lots of Rain
The course conditions have suffered from lack of rain and extreme heat in Aug / Sep. Tee boxes are distressed and fairways are hard, however the greens are in overall good condition. We enjoyed our round and played in just under 4 hrs for a foursome. Staff as always are personable and friendly. We enjoyed our round and will play again.

Slow Pace of Play + Too close of tee times = miserable
Our tee time was for 10:21 and when we got to the golf cart area 10-15 minutes prior to our tee time they had zero golf carts ready. The starter was no where to be found and we finally got our carts and set up and ended up just going off on our own once ready since we didn't want to hold anyone else up. We didn't end up teeing off until probably 10:30 or so as a result and we thought we'd have a few holes between us and the next group. Wrong. The group in front of was still waiting on the group in front of us as we got onto the first green. This continued for many holes. After talking to the group in front of us a few times, we learned it was backed up the whole way and they only space their tee times out about 8 minutes. This is way too close together for a Saturday full of amateurs. It was so slow, the two groups in front of us eventually had to leave as it was taking too long and even then we still were waiting at the tee box for another group in front to tee off. Somewhere around 13 the ranger (who we hadn't seen all day) had the nerve to come up to our group and tell us there was a whole open hole ahead of us and to pick up the pace. We explained we had been between two other groups who had left and we were waiting at each tee box. He didn't care, told us to hurry up and stop holding up the course. We hurried through the hole thinking maybe another group left. Nope. The same group was on the tee box ahead of us and we had to wait again... I'd golfed here multiple times before and never had a problem but this time it was horrible. The one group of staff that I can commend here are the groundskeepers. The greens were in great shape for a dry summer and most of the fairways too. Additionally, the bathroom/snack bar on the 5th hole was out of mostly every drink by 11am and they never had a ton of hot dogs on the rollers and always had to tell people they'd be waiting. This is all correctable and they need to step their game up for this price. Space out the tee times more and be prepared.

Fairways dry and bony
I guess there is no fairway irrigation…. Need to look for grass to roll your ball toward.

Pacing
On a Saturday, who does 8 minute increments for each tee time. 3.5 hours for 11 holes in un heard of. If we stayed, it would’ve been 6 hours. Rangers did nothing, just drove his cart around and said sorry to people. Didn’t tell groups to hurry up or anything. Waiting on tee boxes for over 20 minutes is ridiculous. Course was in good condition but still doesn’t give a good reason to come back after paying $62

Were you 10:12 tee time? We were the 10:21 and the groups (multiple) left in front of us. We stayed and the ranger had the balls to complain to us about our pace when we had been flying through each hole on 13 telling us there was a full hole open ahead. There wasn't. We got to the green and the other group was still waiting to tee off.

Burned out
This course had burned out fairways-some with little to no grass. Tee boxes were cement blocks of dirt, where hammers are needed to get a tee in. Greens were green and in decent shape, unfortunately the fairways and tee boxes are not. Also the cart paths are a true hazard and need to be replaced in numerous spots. No driving range or chipping area is a disappointment. NEVER paying $60+ to play this cow pasture again. Tight course with no grass in the fairways to stop the ball from finding trouble.

Awful tee boxes & fairways
More than half of the tee boxes were dirt/sand & due to that you pretty much needed a jackhammer to get your tee into the ground. The fairways need a lot of work as well, it felt like everytime I hit the fairway I was in a mud patch or dead grass.

What a shame….
This course could be something if a bit of funds were put into maintenance. The greens were very nice and you could tell money had been invested there; however, the rest of the course was a total mess, and you literally had to move your ball on the fairways to avoid clumps of weeds, patches of dirt, etc. The tee boxes were literally non-existent and were just patches of dirt where you could barely get a tee in the ground. It was actually a bit challenging technically, but sadly, it was in such bad shape that i would probably not play it again.
