Middletown Country Club

This course had burned out fairways-some with little to no grass. Tee boxes were cement blocks of dirt, where hammers are needed to get a tee in. Greens were green and in decent shape, unfortunately the fairways and tee boxes are not. Also the cart paths are a true hazard and need to be replaced in numerous spots. No driving range or chipping area is a disappointment. NEVER paying $60+ to play this cow pasture again. Tight course with no grass in the fairways to stop the ball from finding trouble.

More than half of the tee boxes were dirt/sand & due to that you pretty much needed a jackhammer to get your tee into the ground. The fairways need a lot of work as well, it felt like everytime I hit the fairway I was in a mud patch or dead grass.

This course could be something if a bit of funds were put into maintenance. The greens were very nice and you could tell money had been invested there; however, the rest of the course was a total mess, and you literally had to move your ball on the fairways to avoid clumps of weeds, patches of dirt, etc. The tee boxes were literally non-existent and were just patches of dirt where you could barely get a tee in the ground. It was actually a bit challenging technically, but sadly, it was in such bad shape that i would probably not play it again.

It’s been a while since we’ve played here, so a buddy and I grabbed a hot deal on a Wednesday at noon.

The pros: course layout is fun and the staff is friendly. Nobody was there because it was noon on a Wednesday so pace of play was great.

The cons: tee boxes were either rock solid dirt or patchy grass, the fairways were so brown and patchy that it made the greens look like a desert oasis, then you get to the greens and they’re just filled with crab grass, sand traps were just dirt and rocks except for maybe a couple on the back 9. Also, the gnats were still annoying, but that’s always a problem there without wind.

Also we typically walk, and that’s not an option for this course so that’s why we typically stay away. Probably won’t be back until some good reviews start happening and walking is allowed.

Dog track. Middletown Township should be ashamed of themselves. If I lived in Middletown I’d lie and say I lived somewhere else. Played here couple years ago and said I’d never go back, should’ve listened to myself. Better conditions at mini golf.

Could be a great golf course if they could get some grass back in the fairways and tee boxes. Lots of character in the hole designs. Lots of good improvements since I last played here 20+ yrs ago. Maybe with some rain things will come back. Hoping to return but probably not this year.

The course was really dried out but with the lack of rain in the area I don't know how much the course could have done about this. Rock hard traps and tee boxes were the biggest issues. It didn't help that the twosome in front of use were terrible and the group in front of them were even worse. Made for a round that was much longer than necessary even though the starter let us out early because of the gap between groups.

Course was so jammed up, when I got to a tee box the people in front of me would still be waiting for the people in front of them to tee off , meanwhile I have 10 angry parents from the tournament just standing on top of me everytime I shot. The sprinkler was broken on a hole and the green was basically a pool. Was a terrible experience I won’t be going back. All staff were very friendly though.

Agreed, the tee boxes are a touch on the wasteland side of things. But given the scorching temps of late, it's not totally unexpected. Greens in good shape. Bunkers are rock hard for the most part. Staff was awesome about bringing water around for folks all through the round.

Haven’t played here since the fall and don’t know if I’ll be back any time soon. Grass in the fairways and tee boxes across the course was burnt out. The conditions of the tee boxes resembled sand traps. The first few greens were definitely painted, but otherwise the greens on the course were in good shape. Hard to justify spending upwards of $60 to play here in my opinion. Pace of play was good for a Friday afternoon. I do like the layout of this course and proximity to home, so hopefully the conditions improve.
