About
Middletown Country Club has been one of Bucks County's major golfing destinations for more than a century. Originally designed as a nine-hole golf course in 1913 by Scottish architect Alexander Findlay, the second nine was added three years later. In the many years since opening, the golf course has undergone renovations by both George Fazio and Stephen Kay. This tough course is proof that a layout doesn't have to be 7,500-plus yards to be a challenge. Although the Middletown C.C. golf course plays to a seemingly modest yardage of 6,217 from the back tees, the rolling terrain provided by its location in the scenic Neshaminy Valley makes the course seem much longer. The small greens have plenty of undulations and you'll also be faced with a variety of uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies. There are also towering trees looming above the fairways and water comes into play throughout the golf course as well.

Stay Away
This course is in awful condition. To many greens were brown / dirt. There is a horrible "gnat" problem going on, swarms of them. The price of the course is to high for the condition it is in. The starter let a single golfer go alone instead of making him golf with my 2-sum. And later the same starter asked us to pick up the pace even though we were keeping up with the group in front of us. How about you do your starter job correctly.

Fast greens
If you like fast greens this is the place to go. Fairways excellent. Tees good.

Conditions
The conditions were horrible. Black growth on the greens. Dead patches on the greens and tee boxes Poor maintenance all around. This could ne a beautiful course. It probably once was. .

condition of course
The course was ok but it needs work on it, the tee boxes were really bad and alot of the greens were in very back shape. The course is going down hill

With all due respect, and thank you for coming out to see us, the course is not, as you wrote, "going downhill". Like many courses in our area, there were three factors that influenced conditions in July/August.
1. 5,000 more rounds from our May 1st reopening to Sept.15th than the same time period last year on small tees and greens.
2. A record number of days over 90 with 90+ % humidity in July/ August where temperatures rarely got below 75-80 degrees at night.
3. Several rain events with too much rain in a very short amount of time.
In response, we moved fall greens aerification up to the first week of August instead of the last week. All tees were sprayed out for weeds when the temperatures cooled off and reseeded. This spray could not be applied when temps were too hot as it would kill everything. All collars were done in the same manner.
We also received greens sod from Union League National GC and their course renovation to sod #6's tee, the front of #6's green, the back of #11, #14, and #16 green. Also, the two new greens have been nursed back after the architect and construction crew put improper drainage underneath them. They were great during the dry season in May and June. Once the first tropical storm hit, they starting retaining water and suffered. They are coming next Monday and Tuesday to complete the drainage work on those two greens. We are also removing trees around #12's tee to open up that tee for better sunlight to that tee for growing purposes. That hole is probably going to become a par 5 by using the back tee for the back and middle tees to avoid tee shots sailing over the catch nets along Maple Avenue. I just figured that I would respond to your review to inform everyone that we are moving forward and coming back after a rough stretch caused by the factors listed above.

Pace
Need more ranger policing. Foursomes that have no respect for pace of play. Stand around green talking after everyone is done putting. Also this is 2nd time in 3 weeks that a twosome was allowed to play out of one bag. One driver and putter for two people Crisscrossing the fairway to share an iron. Etc.

shes back
Very enjyable round of golf. Greens are smooth and true, aerification has healed. Tees are fine and fairways are excellent. After this summer not to shabby

Pace
Pace of play very slow. 2 people in threesome in front of us were allowed to play from one bag. This caused many back and forth across the fairway to share a club backing up everyone behind them.

Overpriced !
Way overpriced for the condition that the course is currently in - we paid $51 on Golfnow, which was too much, and the guys we played with got robbed by paying $60 each - I think it’s very dissapointing that courses charge full price when the course isn’t even close to 50% of where it should be

Poor Conditions
The overall condition of the course is poor. The upkeep has not been good. There was also a major issue with gnats in this course. Fortunately it was not every hole but where there was it was awful. There are several interesting holes including varying heights of the golf course. It’s a shame that they let the conditions deteriorate so much. Pace of play was good not much waiting.

Needs attention
It's either township budget or less than good grounds keeping. Two new greens bad, fairways iffy, some greens OK but most average at best, crab grass rules everywhere else. Not crowded for a holiday Saturday.

I’m not sure where to begin... the only bright spot to the round was we got rained out a little after the turn. This course is an embarrassment. From tee to green there is zero positives. The course has been completely neglected, starting with every single tee box being an absolute trash heap. Fairways are, at best, okay, but that’s more just me trying not to be too harsh. Greens are atrocious. The course layout isn’t great to my eye, although, I suppose some may like it. But despite the enjoyment someone might take from the layout, it will be completely negated by the terrible playing conditions. Pace of play is typical for this areas... turtle slow. Price is the same as other courses for the area, which would be okay if the conditions matched the price even a little, but they do not. So, with that in mind, compared to the courses in the area and the horrendous conditions I would say the price is an absolute joke. Fortunately, the actual bright spot is the staff members are nice.
Overall, this is just a bad, bad course. I’ll put it this way, I wouldn’t play a free round at Middletown CC.
