Middletown Country Club
About
Middletown Country Club has been one of Bucks County's major golfing destinations for more than a century. Originally designed as a nine-hole golf course in 1913 by Scottish architect Alexander Findlay, the second nine was added three years later. In the many years since opening, the golf course has undergone renovations by both George Fazio and Stephen Kay. This tough course is proof that a layout doesn't have to be 7,500-plus yards to be a challenge. Although the Middletown C.C. golf course plays to a seemingly modest yardage of 6,217 from the back tees, the rolling terrain provided by its location in the scenic Neshaminy Valley makes the course seem much longer. The small greens have plenty of undulations and you'll also be faced with a variety of uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies. There are also towering trees looming above the fairways and water comes into play throughout the golf course as well.

Great Little Layout
I always try to find time to play the course at least yearly if not more. Dan is a great guy and the course seems to be always well maintained.
Has a great pro shop
Course had a lot of leeves even on fairways you had a hard time finding your ball, spent more time looking for everyone ball.
greens were extremely challenging
The course is in great shape and I had a wonderful time!
I would recommend the course to anyone as it well deserves your play . Thsi time of year every hole is magnificient and picture perfect .
Super Fast Greens, Challenging Holes, & Good Value
Had a great time playing the course my only complaint is they ran out of $1.00 hot dogs on Sunday!
Terrible condition
While the greens were actually in decent shape for the most part, the remainder of the course was awful.
The fairways were dried out and patchy.
The tees were just as bad only cut shorter
Despite the friendly staff would not play again
Ok for the price
The course is very tight. No level fairways as it seems your always playing a hillside lie. Also the fairways in many places had little to no grass on them. I will say while the greens are very challenging they were in great shape.
Worth playing once.
The greens are very good. The oveall course needs work. It is a leased track that needs some money put into maintaining the fairways. Apparently the irrigation system is broken with no plans to repair/replace.
It is worth playing, at least once.
Classic course (1913)
The starter couldn't have said it better, "It isn't a long course but it isn't an easy course." All the putts drop toward the railroad tracks wherever they are. The first couple fairways run seriously left to right. Some of the fairways have suffered in the heat but the greens were soft and receptive. The place is now 101 years old, an Alex Findlay production so my suggestion is that the next group road trip should be to another Findlay, Manor CC. It's like hunting down Chagalls in museums. It's another Findlay course but Manor is short so it's generally women friendly... and it's just past Stoudt's Brew Pub!!
So back to my golf resume, Middletown is all over the place with distances. Like #16 is 455 yards, finishing over a pond to a green that's pretty well protected with not just the water but bunkers too.
The very next hole is 252, arguably also a par 4, at least it says so on the card. I got to 17 feeling like I'd been swinging lead bats all morning. The previous four par 4s were (in order): 440, 422, 430, and 455. So I take out driver, come down about an inch on the shaft, and I hit it about as well as I could ever want. My partner and I watched as the ball laded on the front of the green and rolled right at the pin. It rolled and rolled and rolled... went right past the pin and stopped about 5 feet directly behind it. I could have had my albatross and my ace in the same shot. I missed the eagle putt and tapped in for birdie.
Had not played Middletown in 20+ years but it was all I'd remembered.
Greens OK but fairways and tee boxes need work.
Wasn't the worst course I've played this year but remember it being in better shape last year.
Very nice course for the $
Great value, well kept course, some challenging holes.
Course is in real fine shape!
Course was awesome. Played tough, and was in super condition. Pace was a bit slow, but it was a perfect day, and it was Fathers day.
decent course to play
Maintained pretty well. Staff is friendly, would recommend to others.
Beautiful and relaxed spring day
Picked up a great saver rate on golfnow.com and played here for the first time on a Tuesday afternoon. Course was beautiful, grass was lush and thick after rain the day before. Greens were steep and fast with challenging pins on some slopes. Several par 4's could easily be 5's and course plays longer due to hills. Staff was great. I barely made my tee time but they set me at ease, sent me a few holes ahead of a league and I played solo all afternoon without any waiting or pressure from behind. After finishing 18 they encouraged me to play some more and join some others, and I did.
Augusta in langhorne Pa.
great course great staff excellent fairways. Greens are fantastic. Played a course like Augusta masters.
This course has challenging fairways.
Middletown is probably the hilliest course I have ever played on. Granted, I am some what new to the game and I have not played at many courses. It took me a few holes to get used to the terrain. I played it early in the season so the grass had not grown in fully and I am curious to see how the course plays in the summer. Overall I had a great time and the course really challenged me.
Great Place to spend an Afternoon
I stopped at Middletown based on a last minute opportunity to spend a beautiful sunny December afternoon on the course. The people here are super friendly, the course was in excellent condition (especially for the time of year), and at the price I got on GolfNow you really can't go wrong.
This course requires very accurate 2nd shots.
Very challenging, amongst some of the hardest greens I have l have played on for a course in this price range, although the back tees are only 6,200 and change, it plays much longer. 3 putts were not uncommon. Played with a regular and he says the locals don't like because its too difficult.
Pretty good overall
We have played this course often as we WERE locals. As we still have family in that area we thought it would be nice for a visit and a round at what was once one of our favorite courses. The facility had been renovated, new pro shop, new bar... same locker rooms. There was nothing wrong with the old facility and now those renovation costs are being passed on to the customers. The staff was friendly, however the aprons had been aerated and it would have been nice had they told us up front prior to the 2 hour drive. Also the greens were ridiculously fast...never seen them or any course public or other that fast. Hopefully if this course bis under new management they will take the economy into consideration, less they are trying to become "exclusive". Too many courses are pricing the general public out of reach which is not right or good for up and coming players.
I will have to wait for next year because of the maintenance
This is the time of year were the course is doing it yearly maintenance so there were a lot of holes under repair. The last 5 holes took us about 2 hours to play because of slow play so we had to walk off.
