Ok fairways, terrible sand traps, green could use work...
Played this course on Memorial Day... Only place I could find a tee time and well I can see why! The staff was rude when we showed up for a tee time only 10 minutes in advance, due to traffic from Memorial Day parade in the town of Lebanon... The fairways are in decent shape, however the sand there could use a lot of work! You mind as well hit off the cart path... They haven't been raked and full of rocks and pebbles it was like hitting your ball off of pavement! Overall I don't think ill go back to this course.. For the price I can find plenty of course that are much nicer...
Solid course to play frequently
I always enjoy playing at Royal Oaks with my friends. There may not be a better value for the money in this area.
great course for the price.
Overall a great experience. The greens could use some tlc, but otherwise course was in good shape. And considering I was able to play a round of golf for only $12, I can't complain.
excellent course friendly staff is well maintained
I must play for any golfer.friendly staff nice layout.
the course is senior friendly
The course was well maintained. It is reasonably flat and not too difficult for seniors to play from the front tees

We normally have a pretty nice experience at this course. Yesterday's round was very slow, but it had more to do with the two foursomes in front of us. For those that have never played here....give it a shot. It's an interesting layout.
Good for price
Paid about $20 per player through golfnow.com, so good overall value. Course has a nice layout with some well-placed hazards on some holes to provide risk/reward situations. These holes require somewhat smart course management, but most holes are relatively open. Some of the greens and fairways were a little patchy but generally smooth. Greens were somewhat firm and not the most receptive, but not bad.
Only complaints involve the pro shop and food service. Staff didn't pay attention to the fact the our tee time was booked through golfnow.com. We had to bring up the email and go back and forth a bit to get our price. Also, the price for a 6 pack of cans was about as high or higher than I've paid at a public golf course.
Course surprising for the time of year
The course was in surprising good shape for the time of year. The greens were a surprising speed after reading other reviews. The staff was something other than pleasant. Only had one employee working both the proshop and the snack bar.
We got a six pack to start our round and when we got oput on the course discovered that it had an exp. date of July 2012. we immediately drove into the shop and the clerk didnt apologize or offer anything he just gave us another product and blamed it on someone else.
Great value but substandard greens
I would love to love this course but I have been golfing there for 15 years and rarely are greens something to write home about and often they are scarred and in poor shape. Many holes require a level of course management to par or birdie and the distance options are great for a 30 handicapper to a 10, but then I come back to the greens. I have I been pleased with the upkeep of the greens on only a few occasions and yesterday I was disappointed again.
Challenging and fun course, very good shape.
The course makes you think a lot off the tee and also on your second shots. There are challenging and fun holes throughout, whether it is a 450+ yard par 4 or a <300 yard par 4. No 2 holes seem the same, which is a major bonus. I highly recommend especially off of golfnow.com because the deals are great!
Super value for the money
I always enjoy my rounds at Royal Oaks. Decent course, however the value make it an Excellent Saturday/Sunday morning option.
Continuing trouble with some greens
I have played this course since the year it opened and their always seems to be issues with a few greens mainly #7 and #8. Layout wise, I have always enjoyed this course but just wish those 2 greens could somehow be recovered or re-done.
This course is a steal
First of the facilities are great. Awesome club house, driving range, chipping green and putting green. The staff was friendly and starter was super polite. The course was in pristine condition. Nice evenly cut ruff. Greens were pristine except for 2 of the par threes were a little beaten up but that's because they are easy holes to reach and a lot of people are hitting the greens. The course is pleasing to the eye and is definitely worth $50. But I played it for $25 thanks to Golfnow. If you get an opportunity to go out and play it I highly recommend it. It will challenge all players. You can hit driver on most holes but some force you to lay up. There are 3 to 4 risk reward holes which always make the round interesting while playing with your friends.
good layout
This course has a good layout. Greens were fast but very smooth.
Challenging and well maintained course. Enjoyed the day.
Can't wait to get back there. Had a great day. Played with three other guys who got there through GolfNow.
Nice layout with some unique holes
Re: Golden Oaks.
Course was in good shape. It had just rained a day or two before so the fairways was not groomed as nice as they usually are. They were a little higher than normal and the greens were a little slower than normal. Again this can be because the rain may have keep them from cutting the greens. All in all it is a nice course and I would play it again.
Pete
Located in the scenic Lebanon Valley.
Fun course with the exception of a narrow creek meandering through the back nine that unfortunately intersects several fairways at critical locations.
Great looking course for a great price
Played on a Monday during the day so I got a great price and then the course was also pretty empty so play was fast. Course was in great condition and fun to play.
greens are good
enjoyable play a littel slow but will play again they need to work on drainage
