This course has gotten better
I've heard many locals talk about how poor the course conditions have become, only to find that they haven't played the course in 3+ years. Trust me that the course conditions have gotten better. It certainly is worth the $20-$25 it can be had for quite frequently on Golf Now. Every hole is different at this course, and it's not overly intimidating to any level of player. Definitely worth playing, especially at a steep discount on GN.
nice place good price
outstanding course magnificent landscaping easy and challenging holes....a must stop if you like to play good affordable courses
Good layout
Always liked the track, but I must say I was disappointed with the conditions of the course. Very few ball washers at tees; no permanent tee markers, just small plastic signs stuck in the ground; many traps had no rakes in sight; stones in traps; greens spotty and inconsistent speed. May check later in the year but as of now probbly will not be going back.
nice course
played on a Saturday afternoon and course was not overbooked. have played here before and the course looks in great shape. bunkers and greens were well maintained. would highly recommend this course.
Sub Par Conditions
Lack of understanding for course management. They do not care about the greens nor do they care about the fairways. Bottom line not the course it use to be.
Good but lacking
This course is worth about $25 if you play it, I certainly wouldn't pay $35 or $40. I was shocked that the tee boxes weren't setup with a placard that told you what hole you were on and what the distance was. There is no marshal driving around as well as no beverage cart. So it's kind of a no frills golf course in the country side. I hit one shot into a bunker, the bunker was made of course sand and rocks.
This is NOT a challenging course! The greens are all flat.
Good price but average maintenance
Royal Oaks is a very nice course, but not maintained as well as a few years ago. Rough was extremely high and tee boxes were poor on occasion. Good value from GolfNow, but would not pay over $30.00 to play.n
Players comment
Course was in nice shape considering the weather this week. Guys I played with said it was much better than the place they played yesterday. I enjoyed it.
Beautiful course
Very nice course and we had a fun afternoon of play!
Former Nike Tour course
Former Nike Tour course in the 90's.
Interesting layout.
Utilizes many sand areas.
No water on front, multiple water on back, but all fair.
Only mild elevation changes.
Nice course
really enjoyable
great day and conditions for 1/17/2014 in Pa. The greens were beautiful.
Well conditioned and intriguing layout.
I played on 8/24 in the AM, and enjoyed the course layout and conditioning. I thought the greens were in excellent shape. I will be back again.
cold November day
For this time of year, the course was in good condition. No complaints since I understand that punching the fairways and greens is part of maintenance and most were healed. It was a cold and windy day which made it tough but someone must have PO'd the greenskeeper. Those pins were evil !!! We had a new golfer along that killed our pace of play. W/o him, 3 hour round.
Enjoyable Round
Played early morning on a friday the bunkers were all raked the fairways and greens where renovated but they were still rolling good. If you miss the fairway on some holes its tough to find your ball among all the leaves in the rough.
Fun
Have played here about 10 times. Nice course, nicely maintained. One or 2 shaded greens had some bare spots, but no big deal. This course is heavily played and sometimes slow. The pace for this round was a little slow, but not too bad.
Course was nice for the time of year.
Need to put a little more attention on the bunkers and drainage thereof. It would be nice to hit out of sand instead of dirt, mud, or water. It should be a number one priority for the up and coming season, I know of other people around the area that feel the same way.
overall great value!
Greens fast and good condition overall. Pace of play was very quick even on Sunday in a foursome.
Very enjoyable outing on a course in great condition
My round was scheduled for first thing in the morning. I was there before the pro shop opened and when the attendant arrived he was friendly, quickly learned my name and called me by name several times. He was very accommodating in getting me teamed up with some of the regulars. He even took the time to match me with players that I would enjoy playing with.
The course was in great shape. The greens were lightening fast and since we were the second group out we were able to play at a good pace and finish up in just over three hours.
Very challenging course
Without a yardage book or playing with a regular this course
Is a real challenge. This was our first time and we managed
To find a lot of trouble. We now have some idea as to where
to place the ball. We will do better on our next round.
Very enjoyable day.
Need a Ranger
The pace was very slow due to a foursome in front of us. Two couples playing and it appeared the girls were learning on the course. We skipped the 10th hole to get ahead of them. After we played #18 we played 10. We were off 10 and this slow group was only teeing off on 16. They slowed down play for many golfers. Don't say I dislike women on the ourselves. My foursome was my wife and two female friends.
