Nice course no driving range
I like this course alot. it is in good shape and is a nice layout as well as close to home. my only complaint is that they do not have a driving range to warm up on. there is a driving range about 5 minute drive away so it wasnt a big deal.
Course is very short
I liked the course but its just to short for me, the senior golfer is going to love this place and that's mostly what you see on the course.
Plays much longer than the card but value priced
I found Spring Hollow very challenging because of how hilly the course was. Arguably it is not a course that can be walked, even for people who regularly walk. Almost every hole's approach shot was uphill, with more blind shots than I reasonably expect.
I thought a third of the course's greens could not be seen from fairway and only the top of the flag was visible. The 6000 yard yardage from the blue tees was deceiving, as the course played hundreds of yards longer than that.
I did find the course conditions well maintained for such a reasonably priced course. The clubhouse staff was friendly and accommodating.
Cash needed
I had no cash and wanted to get a hot dog and drink, but the guy at the front desk basically yelled at me for trying to use a credit card. He already seemed annoyed because I reserved it with GolfNow and was very rude to me.
The hills of this course provide some fantastic views and challenging shots!
This was our first visit to Spring Hollow and we were very pleased with our choice. The course is well conditioned and nicely laid out. After the first hole, there is a tunnel under the highway that leads to the second tee, but no signs to tell us that that was the correct route to take. That's just a very minor nit for a course that was a lot of fun to play.
A nice challenging course with friendly staff.
This course has a lot of elevation changes and when the wind is blowing it provides for some additional challenges. The course was in very nice shape. The greens are difficult and most pins are placed at the top of mound with slope running away from the cup on all sides. Overall a nice challenge.
Very good value if used with Tee Time Pass discount, although the facility lacks some customary amenities
Spring Hollow is a course that everyone enjoys playing. The course is picturesque, multi-faceted and has some great views of the surrounding area. There are elevation changes, varied hazards, thick rough, many trees, narrow and wide fairways (some of which slope noticeably), a few deep, almost pot-like bunkers and some blind shots. Nine holes have OB. There are short par 4s that adventurous, big hitters can reach with their tee shots. The single-tiered greens tend to be fairly flat and true without severe undulations. My main complaints about the facility involve the lack of a practice range and a grossly inadequate golf/pro shop. The grille/bar area is quite pleasant.. .
Have played this course a couple of times each year.
Condition wise, this is the best I have seen Spring Hollow greens; fast and smooth.
Interesting layout; good pace of play
Nice local course; friendly staff; easy enough to get on when I find myself with a little bit of time to play. I've gone on as a single and ended up joining a twosome or threesome of some very pleasant golfers!
Good work
They did a good job with the course even with the rough hot weather as of late. Course makes up for shortness with some challenging dog leg holes. Better if did not have back to back par and par 5. Would go back anytime
Course is in good shape
Well maintained, in good shape. Couple of sand traps filled with water, but this summer has been very very wet. Will play there again. Lots of slopes, and some greens were tight -- at least for me.
Playable and average.
Had played the course several times previously and was always impressed with the conditions. Unfortunately the course is not being kept to those previous standards. The greens were average at best and the fairways and tee boxes are in need of repair. Both tees and greens were extremely hard compared to other courses in the area. They also appear to run a hole-in-one/within the flag stick contest on hole #8, which you must prepay to participate, however no one ever mentioned it upon check-in.
Father's Day Golf With My Son
Had a great time playing with my son on Father's Day. Front nine was played at EVEN for match play. The Back Nine was awarded to the old man at 2-1. Had a wonderful time and it was a great day for golf.
Nice course, well maintained
Overall the course is in good shape and well maintained. Some of the holes are a little quirky, would change club selection off tee. Would play again good value for the money.
Must hit the fairways
Great course to play but you must hit the fairways or you will spend plenty of time looking for your golf balls. Pristine greens and exquisite course.
This course had a chipping green and putting green, but no driving range.
Overall, the course was beautiful. It was a bit challenging because of the blind spots and bunch of dog legs. Need to play this course a few times to understand where greens and sand traps are. Be ready for a bunch of up hill shots.
Too many blind shots
It was a great "Hot Deal". $ 52.00 regular W/E rate is a crime. I never played a course where I had so many blind shots with a wedge in my hand. #2 thru #8 it seems like they just crammed them in there. Back to Back twin Par 3's wasnt that interesting either.
Pretty Average
This is not a terrible course and despite the non-recommendation, I would consider playing again if I was in the area and got a deal on the green fee. The course is in relatively good condition considering the tie of year. However, the greens are small, the course is built on some weird hills, and the layout is kind of un-imaginative. I particularly do not like two back to back par threes which are exact replicas of each other. Both short irons, flat and no hazards. Just a green and a tee box.
Up, down, up, down...all day
My first time here. The best feature was the three old timers playing cards in the lobby; guessing they are here every day - super friendly. Elevation changes on EVERY hole. Could have used a Sherpa! If you like these type of courses, have at it. As for me, I know I will not be back again. Just not my type of course. Although it was in pretty good shape for later February.
The carts are old school and have no windshield, which is a nice option to have on those windy winter days (my cart heater was useless). I also had to drive with my hand on the choke all day.
You'll either love it or hate it.
