Golf Advisor: Top 25 Most Improved U.S. Golf Courses (2022 #6)
Reviews
6some issues
Played this course twice in 3 weeks. Overall course condition could be greatly improved. Understand it's been wet, but the fairways are virtually nonexistent. Cut is just as high as the rough. Layout isn't bad or hard to find holes, do have to cross a street about 3 times during play. Greens weren't terrible, but some definitely could use some work.
The WORST part of this review has to be pace of play. In the two times I've played here in the few weeks I've gotten stuck behind a group of 6 or more which terribly slowed play. Also, the ignorance when you ask to play through, said group of 6 ends in threats to "come up and say it to our faces ******" becomes a definite turn off to the course in general.
In general, the course needs a better management structure in order to one, prevent groups higher than 4 people, increase pace of play and or spread out tee times better.
The restaurant end where the ladies work, are very friendly and generally try to fix the issues. Unfortunately, for me I dont think I'll be playing this course on a regular basis due to what I've listed above. I go out to golf to relax and enjoy my time. Not to be stressed out that these giant groups want to "fight us" because we asked to play through their slow pace. I get we all have different skill levels, but some people really just shouldn't golf if they dont have a common etiquette of respect between players.
Play here multiple times each year. Course is in great shape. Greens, as always are smoothe and quick. Fairways are in best shape I have seen. Great value, especially if you can take advantage of golf now hot deal.
Pleasantly surprised
First time I played this couse. Greens were super fast. Tee boxes and fairways were very nice. Rough was pretty thick and high making it difficult to find the ball and hitting out of.
Nice course
Was in town for a couple and found this course on golf now with a great hot deal was little nervous bc it was very cheap… The course was great!!!! Fairways and greens were great rough was challenging if you got in it, but was getting that day as I was finishing up. Challenging course at times with the slopes and hills but nothing crazy…. Definitely recommend this course to any skill level. After the round had had a couple of cold ones and talked courses from Michigan to Florida…..
Worth the trip
Delmar GC is worth the trip for a morning/midafternoon round. Afterwards you can enjoy something to eat in the bar. Worth the trip, course is continuing to improve
Enjoyable
Great time on a nice local course, friendly staff too
Great course for the price
It’s been rather dry in western pa this summer, but all things considered this course was a steal for the price
Not kept
May be the time of year but it looks as if this course has little maintainence all season. Dead patched all around, poor greens
Slow play & ball thief’s.
My wife and I were following a group of four ladies that wouldn’t let us play through. So we decided to skip a hole and they got upset at us. Also a groundskeeper picked up one of our balls, and twice other players picked up one of our balls. We play a lot of golf and never experienced such rude players.
Not well maintained
Played over the holiday weekend to try somewhere new. Skeleton staff which was fine due to the holiday. The course was extremely dry with dead grass and the ground was hard as a rock kicking the ball everywhere. Needs some major upkeep and attention. Won’t be returning. Don’t recommend unless you have nowhere else to go.
Did you ever consider the course was under a drought watch place by the county? The golf course, like others, we asked to limit watering due to the conditions
