Lightning fast greens. 95% of puts broke, and if you end up above the hole, better drop it in the center of the cup. One putt actually stopped three inches short, and rolled back six feet!
With that said, great course. Fun layout, decent scoring chances from a majority of holes. I bet this course in prime season is a super treat. Even in late fall, it was in good shape. Getting it for $30 with a cart was a steal. I'd pay the regular fee on a late spring or early fall day for sure.
Had fun with the random 3some I was paired with.
The four star rating for this course, is solid.
Wide open yet difficult. Beautiful time of year to play there. Very clean of leaves
Stellar Golf Course
1st time playing Alpine. Will def be back. The greens were outstanding. They were probably aerated 10 days ago. But they were very receptive to approaches. Tee boxes and fairways were good. Not great. But as good as your standard muni. The staff I did encounter was helpful as it was my first time there. I like the layout. The par 3's were all nice. Also had a double green. 13 and 15. Will def go back.
Not what It used to be
Booked a tee time at Valley because two of my normal Sunday group had never played there. Really disappointed in the course conditions and the pace of play was horrible. No rangers in sight to move the twosome in front of us holding up our foursome on every hole, Greens were punched (expected this time of year) and extremely slow.
Good challenge
Played blue tees on a really nice day. Good shape. Greens were top shelf. Local knowledge would help. Tricky layout with difficult rough and super demanding par 3’s.
Friendly, accommodating staff and relaxed vibe. Not an easy walking course, but some do. Strongly recommend.
Not Any More
Previously a nice place. Pace of play is super slow now. Course is beat up. Traps are bare. What a shame.
Greens were fabulous. Fairway a little tore up and rough needed to be trimed.
Best Value in RI
My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our round. Perfect mix of friendly fairways on long holes, both challenging but also with scoring opportunities for better golfers. Greens were in fantastic shape. Some really beautiful elevated tee boxes and 2 fun/challenging par 3 holes both over water. Great food and drinks in vibrant clubhouse afterwards. Can’t wait to go back!
Typical NE course
Typical course for this part of the world. Fairways are tight, rough us deep and greens are small. It’s fun to play though with some good holes.
