Much improved
Having played here at the end of August this course had improved 100%. The fairways are plush and green, rough not bad and greens are perfect, not too fast nor too slow. We really enjoyed our round. Restaurant is currently closed. Staff friendly, cart are new and comfortable with GPS. Join email club as we had gotten a free cart through an email from course.
Deceptive practices poor management
In my experience...a large number of teams the ownership/management of this place as proved to totally lack in having ANY integrity. They constantly practice bait and switch on Golf Now app. I have reported to Golf Now a number of times but nothing has been done.
Needs water and work
The greens were slow the fairways hardly had any grass. The tee boxes were terrible. Pace of play very slow. I won't play again.
This course was in bad shape
The course was in bad shape. Fairways were rocky and not kept. Driving range was closed and there was no food at the course.
Great Potential
This historic course which had fallen into disrepair is starting to make a comeback and could become a real gem with some additional tlc for the tee boxes and fairways
GN Bait and Switch
Overall course condition for price is poor, my biggest concern is how they constantly try to bait and switch with golf now, when you go to grab golf not hot deal the course says time is no longer available but if you go to there booking site it is still available at much higher cost. This has happened to me on numerous occasions and I have spoke with many other golfers who have had same experience. I have communicated the issue to golf now and hope they will do something about it if for no other reason than integrity is a big part of out game and Winnapaug is definitely lacking.
double charged
I payed for 18 holes with cart through golfnow app but when I showed up they claim to have issues with app then charged me full price. I was double charged. Not worth full price for swamp land course
Juneteenth
The staff in the clubhouse were very nice. I started on the back nine first and there was 3 group back up. Part of the problem was the golfers did not have the ability to play the course. As the holes got more difficult the pace of play became worse. This course has great views on the back nine and the overall course conditions were very good.
This coarse does a bad and deceptive job with Golf Now
They list spots as hot deals and when you go to book al spins and says spot no longer available. But if you go to there site it is available at a much higher price. I have confirmed this 3 weeks in a row. GN should drop this coarse. I’m going to.
Seaside
Nice course partially on a salt pond right near the ocean. A full 18 holes with varied topography enabling the use of most if not all your clubs. A few bare spots on the fairways, but not enough to impact your round. The ranger is present in the course although our group kept up and had nice conversation with him. A great place to play on a warmer day with sea breezes moderating the warmth.
Average Municipal Course
An average municipal golf course with a local small town feel. The young adults working in the pro shop were very friendly. The front nine was pedestrian, but the course opens up on the back nine with some interesting holes. There is a nice 3 hole stretch along the water. There is no driving range and the practice putting green is quite small.
I was able to pay about $50 for a Saturday afternoon round with a cart on the GolfNow app - that price point was appropriate for the quality of the course.
I wouldn’t purposefully seek out the course to play it again, but it definitely got the job done for an inexpensive weekend round.
Winnapaug
-golf cart died while loading our clubs before the round
-no food available
-bunkers are rock hard
-no starter or ranger
-no beverage cart
Course conditions.
I have to tell you I have played they're quite a few times. It's a beautiful layout and a great location. But the conditions were never that good I had a chance to play there yesterday and I was overwhelmed with the condition of the course and the greens. They are beautiful for this time of year. Kudos to the superintendent and his crew that are turning the course around. It deserves it
Preseason
We played in late March. Nice staff
Most of the grass was still dormant. Temporary tees on par threes were fine. Carts were nice. Greens were a wee shaggy but fair. My wife felt that the more forward tees were reasonable. We look forward to return this summer
