You can see the history in the course. And it could be great. But it’ll need millions and it’s clear thats not what the plan is.

Had an amazing time playing with my wife who is a new golfer. She enjoyed the back 9 as far as difficulty and loved the ocean view and updated carts. Unfortunately ran out of time so we couldn’t play 18 but we will definitely be back!

As title says it, it’s my home away from home course. Great course great pace and great people

The course is under new ownership and it appears they are making course improvements. The greens were spectacular. Very fast but rolled true. Typical Donald Ross with false fronts, back to front sloping greens and don’t be above the hole.

Winnapaug was an absolute delight! The greens are lightning fast, and roll very true. Many of them are mounded, as you would expect from a Ross design, so club selection on approach shots is at a premium.

There are waste areas which give several holes a Pinehurst feel. There are also what appear to be old bunkers, which if they were originally designed by Ross to be there, should be restored.

The condition of the tee boxes wasn’t great, but not the worst that I’ve ever seen.

The staff was helpful and cheerful.

We were started off on the back nine. When we finished and were ready to start the front nine there were 3 foursomes waiting to start. Apparently two leagues had started on the front nine. Very friendly staff in the pro shop told us to skip past a few groups and cut in. We drove the entire front nine and it was packed solid with many complaints from players we talked to. Club house were refunding others but could not do us cause we paid on GolfNow.

I have been playing winnapaug cc for more than 10 years. It has been a yearly trip for my son and I. This last trip was a great disappointment! First there were no carts available, the restaurant was closed, and they “ran out of score cards”! The fairways were as usual hard and mostly brown but the greens were well taken care of. For $180 dollars I guess I expected a lot more! I’ll have to rethink playing there as an annual stop! So sad!!!

The greens were beautiful ! That is the best feature of this golf course. But The tee boxes were not very good thin grass. The fairways were decent

Played Winnipaug for the first time yesterday.

Pros: great layout, beautiful hole design, new carts, great greens, friendly course staff, a Donald Ross gem, active course ranger kept play moving

Cons: the tee boxes need some rest. As someone who typically doesn’t tee up irons out of the box, it was tough to find a spot to set the ball. The course is also missing some signs—most tee boxes didn’t have the hole number and a couple of areas we were unsure if we were playing from a bunker or ground under repair.

Friendly staff ,good course, average fairways ,nice greens ,clubhouse was not open , no water on the course you need to bring your own still very enjoyable playing near the shore ,golf scooters if available are a blast !

This course has a nice lay out. Challenging par 3’s and tough pin placements made the day fun. However, fairways and tee boxes were in tough shape and a greenskeeper was watering one of the greens with a hose when we were putting. Staff was very nice. I would entertain going back here again but would hope the course would be in better shape next time.

I played here exactly 50 years ago for the first time as a 14-year-old. At that time it was magnificent. Came back 50 years later from Sacramento to visit my twin brother and get in a round of golf. The greens were pretty good and layout is as it always had been (challenging and varied). But the condition of the course was not the best. Most of the fairways, tee boxes and rough were awful. There were a few holes that were in good condition but some of the holes looked like they were not even maintained. We rented a brand new cart but the cart paths were either non-existent or bumpy asphalt or gravel. The pro shop was a small shack, the driving range was 3 or 4 beat up mats with hardly any range landing area and the restaurant and bar were closed. Went midday on a Monday but had to wait a lot for a couple of different twosomes that were total hackers. I hope they find a greenskeeper who can bring Winnipaug back to its glory days. It needs a lot of refurbishing. Overall rank 3 stars.

Condition of the course is better than previous years. Greens were in excellent condition. Sand was inconsistent in the traps. Fairways and tees weren’t bad but far from excellent. Clubhouse restaurant and bar were closed for lunch. Outdoor food cart was set up by the 18th green. Other courses in the area are in better condition with lower fees.
