Just Ok
This course has a nice lay out. Challenging par 3’s and tough pin placements made the day fun. However, fairways and tee boxes were in tough shape and a greenskeeper was watering one of the greens with a hose when we were putting. Staff was very nice. I would entertain going back here again but would hope the course would be in better shape next time.
Anniversary golf
I played here exactly 50 years ago for the first time as a 14-year-old. At that time it was magnificent. Came back 50 years later from Sacramento to visit my twin brother and get in a round of golf. The greens were pretty good and layout is as it always had been (challenging and varied). But the condition of the course was not the best. Most of the fairways, tee boxes and rough were awful. There were a few holes that were in good condition but some of the holes looked like they were not even maintained. We rented a brand new cart but the cart paths were either non-existent or bumpy asphalt or gravel. The pro shop was a small shack, the driving range was 3 or 4 beat up mats with hardly any range landing area and the restaurant and bar were closed. Went midday on a Monday but had to wait a lot for a couple of different twosomes that were total hackers. I hope they find a greenskeeper who can bring Winnipaug back to its glory days. It needs a lot of refurbishing. Overall rank 3 stars.
Slowly Improving Conditions
Condition of the course is better than previous years. Greens were in excellent condition. Sand was inconsistent in the traps. Fairways and tees weren’t bad but far from excellent. Clubhouse restaurant and bar were closed for lunch. Outdoor food cart was set up by the 18th green. Other courses in the area are in better condition with lower fees.
Missing fairways
No driving range, Fairways are plenty wide but dry and ruff The greens and the staff are the one thing this place has going for itself. The course layout is fun. Although you can get lost driving the cart down the main streets getting to the next T-box.
Fun
Fun course with friendly staff. Greens are true and tee boxes need work.
Conditions
Greens were great! Fairways 8 of 10 Rough poor Traps really poor
The new carts with the tablets are awesome, the gps was spot on, the carts were super comfortable. The condition of the course has come along way from when I first played. The electric bikes are a great option, the next time I play I will get one of those. I hope they stay on top of everything and keep making improvements.
Thanks

Great Day
Very friendly staff, nice layout. Would recommend the course. Hope to play again.
An excellent Don Ross layout
A short but challenging Donald Ross course. Some areas were under repair, but the greens were fantastic and lived up to Don Ross standards fast and difficult.
Public Donald Ross Gem
Course is in Great Shape, the greens are Private Course fast with lots of breaks & false fronts.
I hadn't played here in 30 years, and now I can't wait to go back. Great Staff, friendly & helpful.
If you like Ross courses, Play Here!!!!!
Some nice improvements.
New electric carts and cycles were nice. Course still needs work. Restuarant is still closed. Beverage cart is limited.
Good Oceanside Golf in the Ocean State
Winnapaug CC is a very nice and fun course. It is hilly on the front seven, gentle on the middle 7, and hilly again on the final four holes. Pace of play is okay at four and a half hours, but could improve if carts were allowed to get a bit closer to the greens. The course is well-maintained and the greens roll fast and true; the pin placements are challenging, especially on the third, sixth, sixteenth, and seventeenth greens. Hitting a green in regulation and three- or four-putting it gets the advanced player well roiled, and gives a duffer like me a chance to match those scores with a lucky chip and tap-in. The staff is great, very helpful and supportive. A phase-in of new electric carts has begun. They are equipped with ball and clubface washers. If you fancy a game at the shore, Winnapaug does not disappoint. The cost for play is very reasonable and there are discounts available through their website.
Re Bermuda triangle ?!
I love this course and play it alot.
Problem is The last two times I've been there I have lost something that has not been returned. First time it was a pair of flip-flops. I called a few hours after leaving and they said they couldn't find them. I even had a friend of mine go by and they said they had no idea where they were. Okay
This past time we finished up our round and a young kid came over to the cart and offered to clean our clubs and then said make sure you get everything and of course our rangefinder was on the cart and we forgot to grab it because he rushed us along. We called and they said they didn't have it. I find that very hard to believe. Plus it had my playing partner's name on the back and phone number! We called again and the guy said nope nothing!
Listen, I understand it's our responsibility but still I have played a lot of different courses and people are always turning things in so I find it odd that it wasn't turned in by the kid that cleaned our golf cart and our clubs!
Needs some pointers
Course was in great condition, no issues there at all and the greens were amazing, ok now the services, the course does not bring you back to the club house at the turn, so a beer cart or at least a station along the way is a must.. neither were available this made the back nine a touch rough with nothing to drink or eat. The pace of play was very very slow and it didn’t seem like the group infront of us was being pushed at all by a ranger. It wasn’t a totally bad experience by any means but little details could have made this an easy 5 star. The carts are dated but that didn’t concern me if the course was maintained well, all in all need to add a beer cart and have to keep the pace of play moving would play again if in the area based on the greens and course layout.
