Greyston GC - 12th Cart Path looking back towards the clubhouse Photo submitted by blazerboyjon on 02/13/2013
Greens are awesome.
Course is in great shape. Greens rolling true and fairly fast.
Excellent course
Greystone is a fantastic golf course, one of the finest public courses in Middle Tennessee. It is a challenging, yet fair test of golf. I just played it Father's Day of 2013, and the bent grass greens and zoysia fairways and tee boxes were in great shape. Jim, one of the assistants, went out of his way to assure we had a great time. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a great place to play.
Excellent experience
One of my favorite courses. My. Son and I love to play this course whenever we get a chance. Well maintained and a fun course.
If you are looking for a challenge on a well-maintained golf course with a friendly staff and great amenities, this is the course for you!!
Greystone continues to be one of my favorite golf courses in the Nashville area. it is in great shape right now, particularly if you consider all of the rain we've had lately. The greens are rolling well and the speed is consistent and fast, but not too fast. The course has a nice driving range and huge practice green. The staff is always friendly and you can't beat the hot dog, chips and fountain drink special for $6. There is also a beverage cart out on the course. One feature I especially like is that I never feel like I am playing the same hole over again. Each hole has its own distinct design and character. I also like the mix of shorter and longer holes which tends to allow me to use all the clubs in my bag during a round. There are several sets of tees for different levels of players which will test anyone's skill.
Awesome Course
This course is in great condition and can throw you a curveball here and there.
It is a challenging course with a great layout and excellent greens.
I would recommended it to anyone.
Excellent course will come back and play
Father and son really enjoyed the day.
Course was well maintained.
Pin placements were challenging.
course in great condition
easy to book and get on course, great course, great conditionm, great value round of golf in less than 4hrs
great value would like to play again
45 mins for Nashville but well worth the drive lots of elevation changes very nice course very well maintained
Excellent course!
Excellent course, especially for the price. There are nice elevation changes, yet fairly wide open. Not a ton of water hazards on the course, but the high grasses will eat up a ton of balls if you aren't careful.
Very unique course
In a class of its own. Greens were quick and in good shape. Layout of course is excellent and challenging. Look forward to playing it again.
Great Course
This was the first time i played this course and i was very impressed. The course was in excellent condition and was challenging yet fair if you hit your shots. The greens were in great condition and rolled true and fast. I just wish it was closer to my home so I could play it more often but definitely worth the drive.
Augusta like speed on these greens.
As always, Greystone has the most challenging putting surfaces around! Much undulation and smooth, fast cut raised greens help to make this course the best Public option around. You need to place your approach correctly on 15 of 18 holes, or you're in trouble. The nature of this track makes it retain water on some fairways and the rough is not well kept... however, it's overall design is outstanding. Watchout for the "valley-mountain" number 9 hole. It gets me every time! A Ranger to speed play would be fantastic! The Monday Regulars were crazy Slow... BB
Worth the trip
Very enjoyable and challenging course. Fair to 1st time players, you can see everything from the tee, no surprises. Greens in excellent shape and very true. Last 2 holes are tough finishing holes.
Would definitely play again.
A challenge for all player levels.
One of the best municipal courses in the Nashville area. A well thought out course with many subtle challenges. A superior option to some private courses in the area, the groundskeeping is exceptional, I haven't had a complaint after playing there for the 5th time in 2 years. Great course. Westhaven would do well to learn from this course.
Great course
Played it when grass was still dormant, will come back to play in summer. Excellent course
Too challenging for weekend golfer!
Extremely hilly! Lots of blind shots. Large bunkers in the fairway and around the greens. Long holes! Target golf ! Have to be an accurate target shot golfer from all kinds of lies on hills. Greens are extremely good, but firm and fast. Course was in generally good condition, but areas in fairways were soft, muddy-mushy. Fairways and greens had been aerated, so rolling over small holes was there for the round. Course is very scenic which adds enjoyment to the round. It's too challenging a course for my skill set, however. I won't go back here until my game improves greatly.
We Enjoyed Ourselves
This is a well-designed, fun and scenic course. I found the par 5s and the par3s particularly challenging. The clubhouse staff were great. The only problem stemmed from recent rain, most shots plugged making "lift and clean" necessary on just about every hole. Still, this was likely the best deal I've ever found on GolfNow. I recommend Greystone highly.
Recommended with hesitation
This is a great course design with details rarely seen on a public course with affordable green fees; e.g. rock features, multiple walking bridges on 18, elevation changes, etc.
Though not a significant problem on previous visits, the pace of play was horrible and personnel/staff were unresponsive when it was brought to their attention. It was well over 4 1/2 hours for first nine and several times there were three groups on par fours. We mentioned it to course staff at the turn and were told, "there's nothing we can do about it". Slow play prevented us from finishing 18 holes before dark.
Additionally, greens had been recently aerated/sanded but this was not mentioned at check-in.
We'll return, but not many more times if this doesn't improve.
What happened Greystone???
I've been playing this course regularly for several years. Generally one of the nicest and best cared for courses in the midstate. Also one of the most reasonable rates in the Midstate. The course is usually in fantastic shape even during the winter. I played this course with my brother Feb 23. Talk about a drastic change. The greens were horrible. They had been aerated but not recently and the sand fill in was laughable. Greens were un-puttable. Fairways were soaked but they have no control over that. Usually after an aeration they have a reduced rate. Paying $50 for bumpy greens is ridiculous.
One of the Best Daily Fee Courses Around Nashville
I booked a Hot Deal tee time here at Greystone which is an incredible value. The staff here is friendly and accommodating. The group I was scheduled to play with had a fourth show up with them, but I was easily paired with another group. For early February the course is in the condition one would expect; dormant but well maintained fairways, soft conditions from all the rain MID TN has received recently, however the bunkers were in pristine condition. The only negative thing I will note is that the greens have been aerated recently and I was not aware of this before I got to the course. It is necessary maintenance, but had I paid the normal daily rate I would have been dissappointed. Pace of play was typical and there was a marshal patrolling to give a prod if needed. We tee'd off at 12:50 and easily made it in before dark. If you haven't played Greystone you owe it to yourself to make the trip. In another couple of weeks the greens should be back to their normal smooth and slick conditions.
