GreyStone Golf Club

This is one of those courses that causes me to really question lists of course rankings. When I walked off the 18th green I had to laugh at what I had discovered in the days leading up to this round. Top 100 public lists are hard to crack, and in my opinion once you get past the top 60, the bottom 40 are pretty interchangeable. Yet, for GreyStone not to show up in GD, GM or GW's "Best in State" rankings or "top places you can play in each state," lists, is a head-scratcher.

GreyStone is a formidable golf course and a lot of fun to play. The shot and scenic value for me at points on this course were off the charts. There is a balance between holes that ascend and descend steep elevation changes, and flatter holes that rest in a valley near a rock quarry.

There is no easing into the round here. In fact, it may be my favorite opening hole I've ever played. The tee shot is framed by hardwoods and your target is blind, resting over a large sloping edge of the fairway, which reminded me of a dragon's tail. The yawning fairway resembles a ski slope and drops dramatically to the green. The saddle-like effect also keeps balls funneling toward the middle of the fairway, but miss it off either edge and good luck saving par.

Zoysia fairways provide for excellent lies and were among the best fairways I've played in recent memory. Two-thirds of the course is pretty open, but there is some thick stuff if you get too off line that will swallow up balls.

The bentgrass greens were very good and deceptively quick past the hole.

I loved the closely-mown areas around the green that made chipping exact. The large scallop-shaped bunkers were very consistent.

The par 3s on the front were rather pedestrian, but the two on the back are stellar - as good as you'll find.

True to the namesake of the course, rock outcroppings are prevalent throughout. The stone walls on several holes, particularly No. 10, were beautiful. The intermittent outcropping on the par-5 12th added an awesome element to the hole. It was like playing through a mine field.

There are several short, straightforward par 4s scattered throughout, so take advantage of these to score well, then soak in the uniqueness of holes like Nos. 1, 5, 9, 10, 12 17 and 18. In fact, 16, 17, 18 provide a tremendous closing stretch.

This is a highly underrated track that you can get awesome hot deals thru Golfnow on. If in the Nashville area, it is a must-play.

Tip: in lieu of a traditional yardage guide, be sure and grab a yardage card from the pro shop. It is very helpful in seeing the layout of holes and does provide yardages to hazards, etc.

Fun course, has plenty of challenges. the greens were very disappointing, balls marks not fixed,greens not mowed recently…sub par for a highly rated course in Md Tn!

Courses has grown in nicely after the dormant burmuda started growing in mid-spring. Quite a few fairways it felt like you were hitting off of carpet. Greens rolled true. Twilight 18 is a good bargain !

I just moved here a couple years ago and I am still exploring many of the courses in the area. This course is fantastic and in great condition (especially relative to others in the area). I am absolutely going to take friends there who visit from out of town and I will also be visiting it again even though it was a 40 minute drive for me. Highly recommend. (only downside is the 12 hole tee shot. Hit perfectly down the middle only to be stuck behind one of the large boulders in the middle of the fairway).

I don’t usually leave reviews but this one is so warranted. Last year I thought I may never return to this course because a lot of the greens were in such rough shape. What they managed to do in such a short time is honestly amazing. I’ve loved this course for a few years now, and I was pretty bummed to see it going downhill, but yesterday completely renewed my faith in the caretakers of this place. Great job putting Greystone back in my top favorite middle TN courses🙏🙏

Been playing many of the courses near the surrounding Nashville metro area, this is probably my favorite one. Very scenic and fun course to play. The club house was extremely nice, and all staff was super friendly and helpful. That being said as others have mentioned the greens are not the greatest, it is kind of unpredictable how they will run on each hole. I give this course 5 stars despite this I would play here again for sure.

So pumped that the team at Greystone has resurrected the course!! Greens were consistent and true. Fairways and tee boxes back in 2024 shape. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. The layout is exciting and challenging from the blue tees. Keep watering the course Summer is coming .

Great course. Some interesting holes. Greens had been aerated but conditions were great all around!

The course was in excellent conditions but the greens were slower than usual. Had a great time playing with 3 guys who were way better than me but made me feel like a pro. I have played this course several times from the winter until now for the first time in spring. The maintenance crews have done a great job with the course. I highly recommend this place to anybody at any level.

I was staying by the airport. It's about an hour away. But it was a beautiful drive and the course was in great shape so it was well worth the time spent..

How is a single and got hooked up with other golfers that were regulars and they were very nice and helped me with tips on the course and we had a blast. Bill, bill and Jay. Thank you for the awesome round..

Course is in great shape , zoysia fairways and boxes in great shape , greens on the come up from winter. Definitely one of my favorite tracks in middle Tennessee.

Even though it’s early spring the grass is starting to come in. Can’t wait to play in a month or 2.

The Staff is always great. Love this course.
