Worst I've ever seen it. Maybe worst I've ever seen.
I'm sure these owners are doing nearly the best they can and because of that, I hate to say anything negative. On the other hand, reviews are for the consumer and consumers should know that right now, the place is a small step above pasture. The greens have some sort of damage in most locations. The fairways and tee boxes are hit and miss. The rough ranges from hard pan to too tall. Some of the pin placements are ridiculous given the green conditions and the driving range is easily the worst I've ever seen. I wish the best for the owners to get it back to what it can be but right now they ought to be paying ppl to play it, rather than charging ppl to play it.
Decent shape
Greens were extremely slow but rolled decent. Practice green is awful. Staff was very friendly. Course was in decent shape for this time of year. We went off around 9am & pace of play was no issue at all. Always enjoy the course & the views, very short course.
Always a good time
Course was crowded but that is what you get with a good course on a December day when it is 68 degrees. I always enjoy playing at Nashville National.
Course that is on its way up
I like the direction this course is headed. It offers a different experience from a lot of golf in the Nashville area and has a number of elevation changes, blind shots, tight targets to hit and overall require a bit of strategy on a lot of the holes. I think this course has good "bones" and you will hit a number of different shots out here instead of just hitting driver/wedge into all the par 4s. The very small greens rolled fairly true and were above average speed. Also, I would note the course plays a fair bit shorter than the distance advertised (which is a good thing for most people) since a lot of the holes are downhill and/or the far back tee boxes don't see to be used often. The uphill #13 is a beast of a hole compared to the rest of the course. Pace of play was great as the course was not overly crowded. We only had to wait on one or two shots.
The cons I would note may or may not be significant depending on what you are looking for. Con #1 is most of the greens are tiny. They appear to have shrunken over time (particularly on hole #9 where it looks the green is less than 1/2 the size of what is originally was) and I would hope the new owners would endeavor to restore them to their original size. Con #2 is the bunkers are still under some construction, most notably the fairway bunker on 2 (which you can't see from the tee box). Con #3 is rather specific, you cannot put a pin location on the top shelf on the first par 3, which is hole #3. Literally an unpinnable location as this green slopes DRAMATICALLY from back to front. There are really only 2 pinnable locations and that is front center and front left. I saw a few other pins that were literally 3-4 paces on the green which is due to how small these greens are but really more care should be taken when setting the cups.
Chilly foggy morning
Proshop was very friendly at check in. We went off at 730am, very cool and foggy start to the day at 51*. The pace was very good as we finished in under 4 hours and never really had to wait on the groups ahead. Very heavy rain the night before but still not cart path only which was nice. The course was wet but did not have standing water but balls needed to be lift clean and place almost every hole. The fairways were in nice shape and most of the tee boxes were as well. Greens were fantastic, very firm and quick yet responsive. First time playing since they added gps monitors to their carts which is always a nice bonus, we will be back!!!
First time golf in Tennessee
Great staff, Course is really challenging and is very tight. Lost more balls than I normally do but I really enjoyed the scenery.
Beautiful Course, Poor Conditions
Great course with a beautiful layout and out in the country. A shame that people chuck their beer cans in the woods 10ft from a trash can.
Firm greens, clean fairways, friendly staff.
Look forward to coming back next year.
Narrow
The course is narrow, but it is fun.
Plenty of grass in the fairway
Greens are fast, and in great shape.
Can't wait to play again!
interesting layout , short and tight. greens good , also very fast
Enjoyable Play
Think I’m what some may call a ‘weekend warrior’ when it comes to golf, so I’m not a Golf guru but I enjoyed this course the couple times I’ve played it. First impressions always start with the staff, and my experience has been great with all there! Course is pretty good condition...couple of areas a little damp from the onslaught of rain lately was all. Been lucky enough to rent the scooter and cart here and both add to the value of the experience here. Speaking of value, not sure you can beat the value for play here. I’ll happily make the 45 min trip to play again.
Save Your Time-Can't Recommend This Course
I felt compelled to write my first review of a golf course in 20 years. This was the most frustrating round I've ever played. FIVE hour round and it wasn't from being a bad golfer (shot 79).
To start the day they double booked our tee time and knew about it but left it up to us on the green to figure it out.
Waited 10-15 min on EVERY tee box which is enough to make you miserable.
All sand traps are under repair because it requires "too much maintenance" according to the head of the pro shop.
If you're looking to ride the scooters, good luck! They have 4 total and must be booked weeks in advance.
Simply the worst experience golf wise I've had in years.
Solid course...just needs a bit more time
Very enjoyable round at a solid course outside of Nashville. I think with another season or two, this new ownership group can really turn this course around. Be prepared for a narrow course where accuracy off the tee is imperative. Also there are a quite a few blind shots around this course so be warned that you may be hit into a few times. New ownership team was very welcoming when our group arrived and they were extremely accommodating when I requested a separate cart due to COVID concerns. Only criticism I'd have was the pace of play. Unfortunately, my group was held up ALL day around the course. Looks like it was a foursome playing from the tips who didn't need to playing that far back. Something you can't always avoid but wish that there'd been a marshal or starter who could have helped move things along. Give this course a try if you're looking for courses outside of the city tracks!
