Gaylord Springs Golf Links
About
The Cumberland River gave birth to the Scottish links-style Gaylord Springs Golf Links, a par-72 golf course that provides 18 testing holes that border limestone bluffs and wetlands protected by the feds. The golf course, designed by the former U.S. Open and PGA Champion Larry Nelson, has collected several distinctions over its days.
The big draw on the Gaylord Springs Golf Links is the signature fourth hole, home to the hundred-plus-year-old springhouse that gives the golf course its name.
After a round on the Gaylord Springs Golf Links, head back to the 43,000-square-foot antebellum-style clubhouse to shop, dine, and take in the views of the golf course.

Fair course for wide range of skill of golfers and ladies
I was paired with lower handicappers and was able to keep up with them. Also, many courses have ladies tees which are not thoughtfully placed, but this one appears to be well laid out from the forward tees.
Nice and Different
True links style course with a tremendous amount of mounding that often sends your ball in unexpected directions (even in the fairway, but more often to the right or left). The greens had been punched in the past week or two, so they were not running true, but it is hard to criticize them for maintaining their investment. Carts had GPS, but on the tees on the par 3s, you definitely needed your rangefinder.
Beautiful Course
The course was in great condition. It was really a beautiful round of golf. Some pins were a little tricky because of a tournament being held there but still fun.
Just a heads up. The greens were recently aerated and they still have a couple of weeks to go before they are smooth again.
Great links course
Course was beautiful and well maintained. Greens were recently aerated but were in great condition. Pace of play was a little slow but we were only a twosome so I can’t complain. Beer cart was great and also had snacks. If you’re in the area I would give it a go.
First timer
Challenging but fun. Highly recommend this course if you are a links course fan
Guys weekend
Great golf course! Staff was helpful and friendly!
Best public course in Nashville.
Best public course in Nashville! Great conditions, fair price, friendly staff.
Great Track
Played here for the first time this weekend. Loved the overall layout of the course and the difficulty. Makes you really be selective on the tee box. Was stuck behind an incredibly slow group for a couple of holes, but other than that, pace was great. Greens were fast and undulating, with pin locations placed carefully in hard to reach sections of the green. I do feel like its a bit overpriced, however it wouldn't deter me from coming back and playing again.
Fun
Had a great time and shot my best round ever. The scenery is beautiful and the course played great.
Good Links Course
This is not what I would consider a typical links course, but it is definitely an interesting take on links.
Conditions: Almost as good as public golf gets. A few little bare spots in the rough, but 99% of the golf course is as green as possible. Greens were quick downhill, but grainy uphill, which made them a little slower than they appeared. Overall, really good conditions.
Layout: Interesting, to say the least. There are no trees, but the links lose their true links character by the over-abundance of gigantic mounding. The fairways are wide, but the mounding is dead area. It also lacks the ability to be creative; the golf course was designed for pure aerial attack. With that said, it is a great layout. Challenging on the front, rewarding on the back. Couple of truly unique holes. Overall 8.5/10
Super Course
What a great course. You have to block out all the trouble in front of you but the fairways are big and the greens are great. I’m a 21 handicap and shot 89 from the whit tees. I would definitely play this one again!
Great public course
This is one of the best public courses I have been to. Course in great shape, challenging and the staff were friendly and helpful. We originally booked and paid for 18 holes but due to circumstances could only play 9. We spoke to the staff and they gave us a rain check for the back nine which was very nice of them since we were playing on a HotDeal. One thing worth mentioning is that it is quite likely that additional people will be added to your group to make up a foursome. We were a group of 3 and were paired up with another guy, he was better than us but friendly and didn't hold our bad play against us... or at least not to our face! :) We had a great time albeit I played like trash, worst round of the year... cant blame the course for that though! Book a round, you wont be disappointed.
Solid Course
Played 36 here and well worth it. Had to play temporary greens on two holes, but they gave us a discount on the price. Overall course is in good shape. Pace of play was excellent, played under 4 hrs with 830 tee time. This is a course to keep on the rotation for future visits to Nashville.
We are glad you enjoyed your visit. Hope to see you again soon!
Surprise at the course
We called the course because it had been wet for the past few days in Nashville and were worried it might be cart paths only. We were assured that it would not be the case the next day. When we got there at checkin no mention of cart paths only was made but after warming up and going to starter, he said that it had been cart paths for the past few days and had only four days in the past few weeks where that wasn't the case. At our age, we were not prepared to walk a links course and enjoy it and feel we were lied to. Too bad because it could have been avoided.
Nice course but in poor condition
I have played this course a few times in the last 3-4 years and up until this last round it has been one of my favorite courses in the general midwest area. The staff is very friendly and the amenities in the pro-shop, range, restaurant/bar, etc are very nice.
The course itself is in very poor condition due to a harsh winter and heavy rain/floods. There was very little good grass to hit from on many holes -- even in the middle of the fairway and while the greens were generally in very good shape, several were "in repair".
The day I played was cart path only and if I had known that ahead of time I probably would not have played.
I know the course will recover and given the high level of service and friendliness of the staff I expect it will continue to be a favorite/preferred course to play in the Nashville area. I will definitely look to play there again when back in the area.
Good morning,
Thanks again for your review. Our team would like to connect with you and discuss your experience a bit further. Can you please email your contact information
and best time to reach you to gaylordspringsgolf@gmail.com?
Thank you,
Thank you for taking the time to offer this feedback and to compliment our staff. We are very proud of our amenities and service levels.
You are correct in that most courses in our area are taking longer than normal to bounce back after a long, wet winter. This has forced us to remain on cart paths. Due to this we extended our off season rates an additional month.
We are excited for the good weather we have experienced lately and are confident the course will recover very soon.
We look forward to your return trip to Nashville and to Gaylord Springs!
Thanks for the feedback! We are glad you enjoyed your round.
