A long way back to the top of that hill! Photo submitted by u000006503721 on 11/18/2012
Very disappointing
I was under the impression this coarse was on the way up! ! Iv played it 3 times this year and feel it’s getting worse! Not to mention the fact I played on a Saturday afternoon! They were out of just about all food and beverage! No cart girl and honestly some of the rudest other golfers I ever encountered on an average golf coarse! So I’ll have to say it will be my last time this year there weather permitting or not! For what I payed the value is not there! It seems a shame as it’s got potential but seems to just keep failing! So for me I’ll drive further out and play a coarse in better condition and better service and amenities for the same price!
It was furry
It's been wet lately and likely prevented them from mowing this week but grass on the entire course was overgrown including the greens. We lost balls in the fairway it was so high. New bunkers looked good. Would really have liked playing this joint after a fresh mow.

Thanks,...sorry it was an unusually wet stretch of weather when you played and as you said everything was quite long ... not what we wanted, just an issue with the weather. With the recent dry weather everything fairways, aprons and greens are much tighter and back to summertime conditions (pending no more rain)
Course was not in good shape
Aside from the irrigation the course needs a lot of work. It could be a beautiful course definitely has the potential.
Down Hill Fast
I have played this course a few times in the last few years. First time playing this year and I doubt I will be going back. By September you expect some wear and tear but the fairways were destroyed, not even burnt grass just dirt. The pace of play was awful and the ranger who came by twice did nothing about it. The only positive experience was the clubhouse remodel.

Good news...on 9/15 & 9/16 the new ownership did a full Aerification of the fairways, tees & greens. Rumor is it had been a long time since the fairways were aerified...the new group seems to be on top of it and is putting in the time, effort & money to make it better.
what a shame
What used to be a beautiful course is now hands down the worst shape course in the area. I play 30+ local courses a year. Average to below average in my opinion courses are Raccoon Hill, Brookledge, Chenowith. Those courses are in WAY BETTER shape as hard is that may be to believe. Fairways with 30-40 foot spots with little to no grass, tee boxes a mess. Only positive is staff was very friendly, but I would not go back possibly even for a free round, I would rather pay money and play anywhere else.
I've seen dog tracks in better condition
Anybody who says this course is in good condition has been smoking the grass rather than playing on it. And, there isn't enough of it on any of the fairways. Choked with crabgrass and bare spots. Greens were exceptionally slow on front and fast on back. Almost as if only some of the greens had been cut and rolled. Tees were in terrible condition, including one green that looked like it had just been sprayed with weed killer. Entire space between the posts was brown with long dead weeds and lots of dirt. Very disappointing. Won't be back.
This course should pay you to golf there.
With all the courses in our area this one by leaps and bounds is in horrendous condition. The superintendent should be ashamed to have his or her name attached to this. The fairways are dried up with bare patches and weeds. The rough is a cow pasture in many places. The greens were ok at best. I find it hard to believe given the upscale area this course is in that they are hurting for upkeep money. I will never play here again unless they do something with the conditions. So many other courses in the area are in great condition. Very disappointing.
Unpleasant experience
Nothing to do with the staff, they’re fantastic! Last time I was there I said I’d never go back. A friend mentioned they were doing renovations so I decided to give it another try. That is true, but appears all the renovations are to the clubhouse. Looks like it’s going to be great when completed. Personal opinion, if they’re going to invest in the property I would’ve put it into grounds repairs. Best way to describe is the course is beat up, while charging a premium rate compared to the area. My biggest issue is pace of play. Every time I’ve been here its a 6 hour round. Unfortunately, I won’t be back.
SAD!
I grew up on this course, have played this course for the past 20 years and it is absolute dog balls now. New ownership should be neutered for what they did to one of NE Ohio’s best layouts. They should pay you for playing it. Make Tanglewood Great Again!

New ownership has been in place since the start of the season. In that time, they've rebuilt the 5 worst tee. Same with bunkers that needed work and attention.; They have been rebuilt. Major drainage work was done on Holes 2, 10, 11 & 17. The golf course is making considerably improvement. Kudos o=to ownership on making this investment in the golf course.
The course was in a lot better condition and I think it will get much better
Terrible condition. Terrible price
Paid $36 dollars for 9 holes only to be greeted by fairways that were full of craters of dirt. If your ball didn’t hit the rough , it would roll into oblivion on the hard dirt. Greens were in pretty good shape though. Pace of play was terrible as there was groups going back to play more holes in front of us with no enforcement. A really cool layout that has a lot of potential but lacks some care to the course and prices that make sense.

The team there is working and reviving the fairways, a venting process was just completed to to open up the fairways provide more oxygen and encourage the roots to grow deeper. There was quite a drought in the area w/ no measurable rain for 7 weeks, so there is/was some browning. While it doesn't look great to the eye, the good news is drives go farther.
Also...good news the 9-hole rate is normally $30 (Monday - Thursday), and there's plenty of good Senior Rates and Junior Rates, especially for Youth-on-Course Members.
Course conditions
Fairways choppy and lacking grass in many areas. Greens super slow, not rolled or cut for prime playing times. (10:30)
Great place to play
My mom and I were there to play 9 holes. Ease of check in, help getting our cart and respectfulness guided by staff on timing to start. Great experience and the fairway and greens will grow better with this new ownership!
Yes!!!
Had a membership for a couple of years. Course is close by and it was reasonably priced. The past ownership was maddening. Repairs that were so small were never done. Yet they had to repair damage from simple drainage issues, instead of doing the repairs in the first place. Great job by the new owners to deal with these issues. The course is on its way back and I commend the new staff.
The course has made considerable improvement this year...it's refreshing to have ownership that is actively making upgrades to cart paths, bunkers, tee boxes, drainage, etc. ... it may take a while longer but as a whole the conditions are improving quite a bit.
