Wow
What a difference a few weeks makes. I revised this golf club a couple weeks ago in a negative light, but the last time I golfed things were looking up. Greens were in much better shape, Tee Boxes look to be getting fixed, and overall the pace of play was decent. The marshall had a scowl on his face, but what marshall doesn't? Overall I'd change my last review to a much more positive one this time.
27 great holes
This place has come a long ways in the past couple of years. Prob the best value around.
Getting better and better
Since new management, the course continues to improve. Currently reworking some tee boxes. Some other rough areas are being tended to. Greens were in very good shape as well as the fairways.
I really enjoy playing Atascocita. The staff is friendly, and and the practice range is very nice. Could use a practice bunker area and a small grill.
Quality course
For a first timer, this place is a bit confusing. You pick up your cart before you go to the pro shop, which one can drive right if they are not careful.
Once we figured out where we needed to be, we paid our green fees and the friendly staff pointed us toward the nice practice range. The course itself is challenging, especially for the first timer. A few blind tee shots along with some hidden creaks can get you in trouble quickly. The greens were in pretty good shape and rolled well.
A soaring success
Scored a soaring success recently by inviting some close friends to join in a golf outing. This course was absolutely in fine shape with generous staff in the pro shop to the starter offering encouragement and a Marshall providing crushed ice in cups with bottled water. We learned quickly that dwarf Bermuda greens were fast, slopes ez to read and you better know ur club yardage to save strokes! Course was in great shape, wide fairways and some hazards guarding the greens. We plan on booking another event soon. Made for a great experience too.
Overall decent course for the money
Recently paid 8 dollars for green fees. Considering that I'd say I got my money's worth. I couldn't imagine paying full price though. The greens aren't in great condition and the tee boxes don't look great.
confused
they have three 9 hole courses .and was very hard to find where to go.had to ask for directions. other than that nice course
Great Hidden Course
This became my Go-To course not only because it near to my residence but because it is a 27 hole course. 3 different 9 hole layouts that are challenging and makes you use all your clubs. Great place to get out and enjoy a round.
Great Layout
27 holes of beautiful challenging yet fair test. Love it.
Great Deal !!!
Friendly staff. Nice course.
Snacks avalable. Needs a Grill though.
We will be back!
Even though it rained heavy the day before the course was in great condition. Can't beat the hot deal for $12. We will definitely come back.
Big old trees
We had a group of 14 golfers -
We play the skin game at different courses -
This was our first time at Atasco -
Had fun - Atasco is on our rotation now.
Bang for your buck
Great layout and not over challenging . The greens are in great shape . The bunkers are placed fairly. Amateurs and advanced players can enjoy this course.
Nice greebs
The greens were smooth, the course was in great shape. The point course was more challenging than the Shores. Overall great golf. The only negative, is no restaurant.
Love It
I play here at least once a week. Pinehurst and The Point are pretty similar courses that are always in fair shape. The Shores course has some nice elevation changes and is by far their best track. This facility is the best course in the area for the price.
Excellent Course
Great course. Fairways are in excellent condition and the greens were fast even though they had recently been aerated. Will be booking tee times again very soon.
Atacocita Golf Club
First the pros- This is a great old course that management is slowly bringing back to life. Green fees are in line for a course of this type and the staff is very friendly. We played the Point and Pinehurst 9's. Very fair layout with about a 70/118 from the white tees. Some minor forced carries over ravines, waste areas, and water. The tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and rough were overall in good condition.
Non Issues- Different from most courses you pick your own cart from the parking lot then wind your way through the facilities to the clubhouse. From the clubhouse it's about a 200 yard cart ride to the Point and Pinehurst courses.
Cons- We played on a Monday and it felt like a Saturday. Groups on the tee box, fairway, and greens all day long. Had to wait for almost every shot. It ended up being almost a five hour round on a Monday. Maybe the cooler temperatures brought everyone out. There is no grill and the snack options are sparse. Plenty of liquid refreshments available though. Plan ahead unless you want to make the trek back to the clubhouse at the turn. Lastly, the greens were aerated and sanded but not a word from the clubhouse staff, starter or even signage. This is a pet peave of mine and something a golfer should be advised of before the start of the round. Nothing worse than having your first approach shot hit the green with a splash of sand when you're not expecting it.
Overall the good outweighs the bad and I'm sure we'll be back again soon.
