Course is recovering from recent hurricane so conditions were only fair to average. Still some heavy ruff from uncut grass, many/many pieces of trees & branches found throughout course and sometimes in-play.
Fairways, tee boxes and greens hanging in there but are beginning to show signs of low rainfall.
Cart paths continue to be in pretty rough shape and with drought appear to be decaying even more.
Pace of play is normally great but this round we had a number of groups slowing down the round. Everyone was very courteous and did their best to speed things up, and Marshall was helpful.
Bad cart
Was having a good experience until my cart broke down after the 9th hole, called the club house they sent out a cart guy to push me back to the cart return, feel like they should of had more staff take a cart out there and swap mine out as a customer it shouldn’t be me towing a broken cart back to the shop
Great course
Atascocita Golf Club is a 45 minute drive for me, but its well worth it. Great course, great people. Try it out, but just be sure to me a shot deal tee time.
ACG
Great Course, i will most definitely play it again.
Great value
Not from the area and yes it was hot out but for dry hot conditions the course was pretty good.
Good course, good atmosphere
Good course for the price. Great range and short game facility. 3 nines but only 2 open right now from hurrican damage, some greens a little patchy but overall staff were friendly. Good options on food, family atmosphere at patio.
Just make sure to grab a cart before heading to proshop. Only 1 small sign when first driving up toward the club house prompting you to grab a cart first.
If you play the Point course, bring extra balls.
This is the second time playing here but the first time playing Point. In my opinion (beginner), this course is suited more for experienced golfers that have a grip on accuracy. The course was very challenging, with water on most of the holes. The tee boxes were mostly in good shape, fairway were in really good shape, some greens needed help though. If you hit out of the fairways, be prepared not to find your ball, as the grass was uncut and high in most areas. The water was the other main problem. High grass surrounding the edges of the water too, so not a great chance finding your ball there either.
The back 9 was Shores and this I’ve played before. Mostly open with uncut roughs here as well. Some water but not too bad. There are houses that line some of the holes, so wring in that slice if you have one……. Was able to finish all 18 but I played the back nine by myself and the front 9 with my Fiance. For the price I paid, under $30 each before taxes, I would play again. Maybe try playing the back 9 twice though. Staff was friendly and range has balls for you to hit for free. Cart was included and plenty of ducks to keep you laughing.
Carts do need some updates with seating and tires.
Good Course for the Price
It was a drive from the west side of Houston, but worth it enough I suppose. It is a bit cheaper than what its competitors would be. The course is three 9-hole courses, so you will play two of the three depending on the day.
Pros:
* Free driving range balls
* Nice clean tee boxes
* Nice fairways
* Cart girl came around like 4 or 5 times (was a slim day though due to weather)
Cons:
* The rough is rough! Especially because it is a bunch of different grasses and not consistent anywhere
* Greens are pretty small in size, like annoyingly small
* There was no water on the course anywhere... so you either have to bring a ton of water, or pay the cart girl...
Great Condition
I've played here before during the summers and this time was no different than the past. For a Monday afternoon tee time, the course was in great condition. From Tees to greens they were well maintained. Fairaway's and rough were at the right height for an August time. I was very impressed compared to other local public courses, this is the best I have played on. Tip of the hat to the Grounds Keeper and his/her crew. Definitely will come back again.
