Golfer Reviews
The Course has Improved
The course was in good shape. The greens have been completely redone and are very good. We played the Pinehurst and the Point. All the tee boxes were torn up and the fairways tight lies (as is expected at this time of year). The pace of play seemed extremely slow, but that probably was not normal (day after Christmas), the courses were packed and bad golf was on display (including my own). I plan on playing here again and would recommend this course.
Probably not worth more than $25
Greens are brand new, don't hold anything. Covered in green sand. A couple of fairways pretty rough. Every par 4 was 380 yards and straight away. Every par 3 was 180 yards. A couple interesting hole layouts otherwise they are all the same and nondescript.
Bad greens
Whenever you are doing a reservation the course should indicate whether they have the greens sanded/top dressed. The front and back nine had all sandy greens. The course should have warned people making tee time reservations about this. It's unfair to a consumer to pay regardless of $$ amount not knowing the course conditions from the start to avoid negative reviews and be less marketable of a venue.
Course has a poor irrigation system. When course is wet. It’s terrible to play
Fairways were nasty due to rain. Greens were in excellent shape and some tee boxes were torn up. Layout was decent and course was pretty. Just no fun at all when the course seem to be flooded with puddles of water.
Great course and value for your money!
Great course to play on. Not a long course but still challenging. Fairways could use a little more grass but greens were in great condition.
Conditions improving.
Course was overall in better condition than my last recent visit. Greens weren’t as sandy & had decent speed. My only complaint this trip was there was no water at any of the water stations. I brought an Artic, but could never refill it. Somebody dropped the ball & it wasn’t cool.
1st round at Atascocita but not my last!
The course was in very nice condition for a fall afternoon. The pro shop guys were very helpful directing me to the first tee and the starter was very accommodating in get me on as a single.
The fairways are generous and the small greens are pretty fast. All in all a very enjoyable time I played the point/pinehurst rotation This was my first time playing AGC but it won’t be my last.
Bad greens and slow round
There were 2 fivesomes playing a money game on a Sunday afternoon hitting from different tees making it too long to take off from the box. Therefore, causing a back up on anybody behind them. A good 10 mins to be waiting behind them on every hole making it difficult to finish at a reasonable time. READY GOLF PLEASE IF YOUR A FIVESOME
Sandy greens
Atascocita unfortunately is within the lake Houston flood zone. It must be hard to maintain with the ground so wet all the time. I know it is not going to be country club pristine when I play here. The design is a fun play. The staff and marshals have always been nice and accommodating. I don’t know why golfnow does not disclose that the greens are recently sanded and have more sand then some of the bunkers. Otherwise it was a nice cool day in Houston to play a round of cheep golf.
SANDY GREENS
Tee boxes were not as advertised, most were rutted up & needed attention. Fairways were in good shape. The greens were very sandy & it affected the ball speed on putts. Several areas appeared to have been over-watered. Carts & cart paths were in good condition.
Hidden gem
This place is fantastic. Greens were incredible. Staff very friendly. Hidden gem northeast of Houston.
Good round
Nice day, nice round. Course is good. Staff is good. Really enjoy playing here.
overall good value. small greens, tight fairways. Marshall needs to suggest that slower players allow singles and doubles to play through.
Greens were firm and quick, and both nines greens were rebuilt recently which made them very good.
Not bad!
Over all we had a good experience. Greens were rolling good but very firm so ball took a few bounce and roll instead of check up and stop. Fairways needed to be cut. Course was in fair condition for 40 bucks morning tee time.
