Course post Beryl
The front nine was still suffering from the hurricane, so all my negative comments are a result of that. The back 9 is fully recovered and was in great shape considering the severity of the storm. Give it another month or so and it will be a great value for the money.
CPO?
course was in decent shape, except for all the cpo holes. Way too many for not having rained in a couple of weeks. Very soggy in spots.
This course has great features.
Staff was super friendly. Course is well maintained. Will definitely be coming back
Everything was good with the exception of no drinking water on the course.
Water
Only golf course in Houston that doesn’t have a single water jug on the whole course.
Great lay out for women. N
Good course. Nicely laid out. Only problem was maintenance. They need to keep the grass cut better around the greens. They were very over grown. Other than that. It’s a nice course.
A wet golf course for a Sunday round.
Can't help the rain but this course was really wet and needed mowing. Seems like golf courses think that if it's too wet to mow they do nothing. Idea, get a couple of guys out with trimmers and knock down the tall stuff in the areas where 90% of the players miss it. A very good design and I hear they have a new superintendent that cares. Fingers crossed. This property deserves to be treated better. Like planting grass in the areas that are dirt. Drainage. Here's an idea, where you walk to the green on 8 Pinehurst, the concrete block that is the walk path, since it's so low it was submerged. Simply add some fill or gravel to that area and raise that stepping block about 2 or 3 inches. Simple stuff like this will make it look like someone gives a rip as to what's going on around there.
Course in Tough Condition after Heavy Weather
Played Shores & Point.
Greens on Point course were recently punched and sanded making them 'unplayable'.
Entire 18-holes showed signs of recent storms with little to no signs of completed cleanup work by Grounds crew.
Tee boxes & fairways were uncut, sand traps were water-logged, and as mentioned - greens were in tough condition.
While these were the conditions, there were Personnel oncourse working hard on making improvements.
I chalk this up to my wanting to play prematurely after some very significant weather vs. the good-to-great condition these 27 holes are normally in.
Next time I'll wait a week or so after heavy weather to give Personnel oncourse time to complete their work.
Affordable & Challenging
Great atmosphere as you learn to prefect your game which the course allows you ample opportunities. Could offer more amenities in the clubhouse in terms of refreshments.
Average
I'm from Florida so it's really worth 35.00 but payed 70.00.
Had difficulty finding proshop never being there and no large signs. Went to front door, locked. Walked around the back of building and found pro shop. Then cart's are way back across the parking lot which is pretty inconvenient. They quickly explained where number 1 was but after hitting few balls and putts, was left scratching my head as no signs letting you know where to go.
Course was cart path only which was understandable. Greens were on the slow side but most rolled well. Tighter fairways, small greens so was nice practice, don't go in serious. Overall I would say if you want to practice tee to green, play it and lower expectations. Probably won't go back though.
