Good Course for the Price
It was a drive from the west side of Houston, but worth it enough I suppose. It is a bit cheaper than what its competitors would be. The course is three 9-hole courses, so you will play two of the three depending on the day.
Pros:
* Free driving range balls
* Nice clean tee boxes
* Nice fairways
* Cart girl came around like 4 or 5 times (was a slim day though due to weather)
Cons:
* The rough is rough! Especially because it is a bunch of different grasses and not consistent anywhere
* Greens are pretty small in size, like annoyingly small
* There was no water on the course anywhere... so you either have to bring a ton of water, or pay the cart girl...
Great Condition
I've played here before during the summers and this time was no different than the past. For a Monday afternoon tee time, the course was in great condition. From Tees to greens they were well maintained. Fairaway's and rough were at the right height for an August time. I was very impressed compared to other local public courses, this is the best I have played on. Tip of the hat to the Grounds Keeper and his/her crew. Definitely will come back again.
Excellent course for price!
First time playing this course, I am impressed at how well the course played, definitely can’t beat their price either! I was a bit confused upon arrival on where the pro shop was located but I found a staff member and he helped me check in and get a golf cart, since the carts are on the opposite side of parking lot from pro shop, the practice green and chipping green were in excellent condition!
Now the negatives…
Now I wouldn’t say they are super negative but a little improvements I think could be addressed. There were no ball wash stations on any of the holes played and with some greens and fairways being soggy it made that difficult.
The driving range is only 250yards so if you hit bombs, beware!
Overall it is a great course and I will definitely be back to play!
Water!
Overall good, water should be provided on course, especially during summer. This is the only course I have played this summer which does not provide drinking water. Cart girl does not come around often enough.
Pace; pace; pace
It was our first time playing Atascocita and the course was in good shape and a fair test. The main complaint was the pace of play. We caught up to a 5 some (yes a 5 some on a Saturday)....the marshal simply stated, "well, it is a Saturday and there are bad golfers"....smh....
Course post Beryl
The front nine was still suffering from the hurricane, so all my negative comments are a result of that. The back 9 is fully recovered and was in great shape considering the severity of the storm. Give it another month or so and it will be a great value for the money.
CPO?
course was in decent shape, except for all the cpo holes. Way too many for not having rained in a couple of weeks. Very soggy in spots.
This course has great features.
Staff was super friendly. Course is well maintained. Will definitely be coming back
Everything was good with the exception of no drinking water on the course.
Water
Only golf course in Houston that doesn’t have a single water jug on the whole course.
Great lay out for women. N
Good course. Nicely laid out. Only problem was maintenance. They need to keep the grass cut better around the greens. They were very over grown. Other than that. It’s a nice course.
A wet golf course for a Sunday round.
Can't help the rain but this course was really wet and needed mowing. Seems like golf courses think that if it's too wet to mow they do nothing. Idea, get a couple of guys out with trimmers and knock down the tall stuff in the areas where 90% of the players miss it. A very good design and I hear they have a new superintendent that cares. Fingers crossed. This property deserves to be treated better. Like planting grass in the areas that are dirt. Drainage. Here's an idea, where you walk to the green on 8 Pinehurst, the concrete block that is the walk path, since it's so low it was submerged. Simply add some fill or gravel to that area and raise that stepping block about 2 or 3 inches. Simple stuff like this will make it look like someone gives a rip as to what's going on around there.
