Good layout but greens need help
Really bad greens on some holes, particularly the front 9. Alternating dirt / bare patches, slick spots, and fuzzy slow spots made judging speed, line, and landing spots very difficult. Hard to get a consistent roll on the ball. Often chipping over dirt patches. Putting / chipping is half the game, so it is disappointing to arrive at the course and realize you will likely lose a number of strokes in the round just due to poor greens. Fairways in good shape. Challenging course in the wind. Course would be 5 stars for the price and definitely worth the drive from Fort Worth if the greens were in better / more consistent shape.
Grumpy Old Men
Pro staff had no personality what so ever. We were told would could not play with 5 (which the rules did state no more than 4), but we say alot of other people playing 5 and 6 in a group. I would imagine they were probably members and we all know the members want be total to follow the rules, but have a problem if non-members dont. The greens were some of the worst greens I have ever played. I enjoying going out and having a good time with friends and family on a course and that is all this course would be good for, but they act like it is a stop on the PGA. Our tee time was 8am and didn't see a cart girl until we got to hole 8 or 9. This is poor service especially on a holiday weekend. I will play again just because it is convert to my location, but I would definitely not recommend coming from out of town to play this course.
I’ve seen better
A lot of the greens were majority dead with hard panned dead grass and the good areas were full of crab grass. No well maintained. Playing from the blues I had a hard time teeing up because the ground was rock solid.
There were no hole layouts on the cards or the tee box yardage signs. So you don’t know what you’re getting into if you have never played the course before.
Just overall not well maintained, but if you’re wanting to kill some time and be on the course, might as well play.
Beware - Awful
Staff was probably the least courteous I have experienced in north Texas. Range was closed, pro shop staff made you feel like you annoyed them by checking in, no drinks (alcohol or not). The beer cart was first seen at hole 8 but didn't even have any drinks of any kind, she was there to only check if we brought outside drinks in. She told us she would send a cart out and it would be about 45 minutes. We finally got drinks 3 hours in.
I could forgive that if the course had any pride in taking care of the course. It was mowed recently but all grass clippings were left. The greens had no grass and potholes everywhere. It is like playing golf course plinko. Fairways were ok, sand traps where overgrown and concrete sand. Some traps you might fall into no knowing there was a one there because the grass had overgrown it so badly.
Awesome location for a course, but they take zero pride in the course condition. Not sure who rated this course any higher than a 2, there is no way.
Greens were the worst condition.
With all the rain, the green should’ve been in great shape
Good little links course
Coarse in great condition overall. The only real complaint was the tee boxes were a little dirty. Trash and left over tees from people not cleaning up after themselves. Greens were in good shape a few were a little soggy from the rain. The foursome in front of us was extremely slow and twice they drove carts onto the greens, they were completely ignoring the 90* rule. Overall great course never had a bad experience with the staff or playability.
Nice views!
This course has some really pretty views and the fairways are in top notch condition. The greens need some work as some were really bumpy. Overall a good round of golf.
Wait to play.
Greens were just punched and the grass needs to be regrown.
Layout is great with all the views.
Good value, poor greens
Title pretty much sums it up. It was nice not playing on a packed course, and $50 for a weekend isn’t too bad.
Tee boxes and fairways were pretty good. Only big black eye is the greens. Four out of five greens were so bad we implemented a max 2 putt rule. They were more like plinks boards than greens.
Good Layout Terrible Greens
Staff gave us a heads up about the greens but they were AWFUL. Was like putting on concrete, couldnt accurately gage a line. Greens got infected and they had to kill all of them.
Atrocious Greens!
Just an FYI: I've been play this game for over 30yrs now, and I'm 66 and Retired, so I know this game fairly well and have been around many golf course across the country. I played this course to today and it was TERRIBLE, they shouldn't even allow the course to be open with the greens in the condition that they are, the Fairway have Crabgrass all over it! All 18 greens are BARE! Now the clubhouse attendant mention that there are Poa Annua on the greens, but he didn't mention that all 18 greens on the course was Bare as well! (Atrocious). (watch the video). They're still charging regular prices to play it as well! They should either close the course down and put money into the course and allow the greens to return or use temporary hole and shut down all 18 greens! Now I did Eagle the 7th hole! (Par 5) and look at the putting green itself, I shot 79!, what you're looking at is dirt! The best part of the playing the course was the CART PATHS are exceptional!! Now that's really saying something about this course... The scenery is nice over looking Lake Pat Cleburne, with a very nice clubhouse. But I wouldn't recommend playing this course.
Bad greens
The greens are really pretty bad, I feel like they have lost the grass and poana weed took over a lot
That said the fairways and tee boxes are in pretty good shape (beside the best hamburgers around, that the best part)
Cleburne Golf Links
Extremely disappointed in the course. I do not remember it being this bad. I will probably never play it again. I should receive a refund for this round.
It is okay that fairways are burned up, hard, and the grass is very short, and most lies are very tight to bad. The greens are supposed to be green and smooth. Chemicals and fertilizer are available to help make the greens be green. Water is readily available. The course is right next to a lake.
There is ZERO excuse for the greens being in this condition; they ruin a great course.
And the person who checked me in barely looked up from her reading.
Wok in progress
Needs attention to greens, course a little confusing to follow, good hamburgers from the grill, not crowded, like the location by the water
