Monte Cristo Golf & Country Club
About
Until the new Los Lagos club opened recently, Monte Cristo, previously known as Palacio, was the only 18-hole course in Edinburg. The name of the game here is dealing with the wind, which seems to always blow from the Gulf and makes the course much more difficult.
Getting there : Exit Monte Cristo off 281 south, then turn left and drive 2.5 miles to the course.

Green greens
The greenest greens I have played on in the Valley. Three greens had been aerated not the best but still okay.
Monte Cristo Reservation
Disappointed with check in, Rate was to be $33 ea ($132 total) including tax. Pd $19.80 to Golf Pass for booking, remainder to be paid at course. Was charged 8.25% sales tax ($9.26) on remainder balance of $112.20 due at course. Showed check in clerk verification reservation which clearly stated $33 player INCLUDING 18 holes, cart, AND TAX. We will probably not reserve this course again.
Nice course to play.
Course is in pretty good shape. Lots of water to cause trouble. No bunkers. Amy the bartender is fantastic. Great drink prices.
Fun
Played with another couple had lots of fun , plays easy so adds to a relaxing game
Low end course
Typical rural Texas track. Greens were decent, the rest not great. Dated and provides locals with affordable place to play.
Great Day
Great course lots of fun; condition is the best in the area, good value, looking to play again soon.Denis
Great course for the money.
The Greens were in great shape. Pleasure to putt on a true surface. The fairways can be a little narrow when playing the course for the first time. Tee boxes were in good shape. More a precision course than a long distance one.
Decent value
Busy course with a pretty forgiving layout. It’s a shame there is no sand in the bunkers. Roping off the fairways 150 yards from some greens does not help the pace of play. No beverage cart and no food available in the restaurant
Easy course to play
Short par 5s, no sand traps and the greens are in good condition.
Homes are a bit close to the playing area and they have no nets to protect themselves.
Enjoyed my round.
Course has personality
Municipal quality course with an ample supply of trees and wet lands giving it some challenge at the same time remaining forgiving for US high handicap folks.
