Monte Cristo Golf & Country Club
About
Until the new Los Lagos club opened recently, Monte Cristo, previously known as Palacio, was the only 18-hole course in Edinburg. The name of the game here is dealing with the wind, which seems to always blow from the Gulf and makes the course much more difficult.
Getting there : Exit Monte Cristo off 281 south, then turn left and drive 2.5 miles to the course.

Monte Cristo golf
Amazing Club House, very clean and friendly, they seem not to appreciate Goln Now, things are not working out, course is fun , specially for the ladies, interesting layout, price is great , to bad no cantine or restaurant open . Will be back !
For the quality of courses in the area, we really recommend it
Areas cordened off
The corded off areas are ridiculous. You might as well not rent a cart. To get to the greens you need to walk 50 to 70 yards to putt. The rest of the course is very good. It's definitely not set up for senior Play!0
Course review
Employee at desk extra friendly and helpful. Entire course in good shape. Really enjoyed the round. Only 1 problem im a 76 year old senior. So walking roped off areas a bit too much for me.
One of my favorites
I love playing this course. We try squeezing into the hot deals for obvious reasons, but honestly we play this course more because of it. If their flat rate was like 35-40$ we’d probably play here every weekend. Also the only complaint I really have about this course is some trees need to be trimmed down. That large tree on hole one needs trimmed or taken down almost makes it impossible to get onto the green in two… also hole 16 the par three there’s a tree on the right side of the tee box that needs just a little trimming. Overall great course challenging but playable for all levels if they use the correct tees. Have shot 2 of my best rounds here with a 77 and 79 from the blues.
DO NOT PLAY AT THIS COURSE!!!!
I just moved down here to the valley from Dallas and went to play a round here. The staff is very unprofessional. As soon as I walked in the club house, they didn't greet me but just asked me when my tee time was. They were hesitant to even give me the cart keys because I was 25 minutes early like seriously?? I've never had anyone tell me this in the past. I was approached on hole 8 since I was not on the cart path by the same guy that almost didn't give me my keys. He yelled at the top of his lungs to get on the cart path without ever giving me a warning or telling me when I received my keys. I told him I would hit first then get on the cart path, he immediately threatened to call the cops on me. At this point I was frustrated and asked what his problem was, he went back to the clubhouse and called the cops. The cops approached me and asked me to leave the golf course. A reminder, this was all just for being on the fairway without any warning. Customer service should be a lot better than this. Also, fairways were not cut, and greens were in rough shape. I will never come back to this course. And there are a lot nicer places to play in the valley for $40 a round.
Beautiful Course
Absolutely amazed by this course, especially compared to other courses after the winter storm. The best greens I have played on here in the valley. Very smooth, definitely returning
First time golfing Monte Cristo
Was really surprised at the condition of the course. Greens are in great shape and better than most of the ones in RGV.
Getting Better every day.
The course was hit with the very cold weather in February but it is starting to green up. Greens are not quite there yet but they too are coming around. The only real negative I can say is the tee boxes were not in good shape at all.
Fairways in poor shape. Greens were matted.
I previously golfed at River Bend about three years ago. It was in better shape then compared to yesterday.
