Great Course- One Bad Apple on Staff
The course itself is great. Greens were true and fast with lots of undulations. But, would not go back or recommend to anyone because of HORRIBLE customer service. For full disclosure, this was just one guy (older) that ruined any chance of me recommending this course. There were some younger guys there on another visit that seemed great, but one bad apple can cost a course lots of money!! I play golf to compete and have fun. This guy made having a good time impossible!
Green reading a must
Great track with plenty of distance, elevation change, scenic. You will forget you are in the Greater Fort Worth area in about 2/3 holes. Green reading skills and putting will be challenged for sure.
Greens in good shape. Some pin placement were not playable?
Change pins on the front 9 before we finished the front 9. Heard they were doing it for men's league but ruined my round and my 3 buddies. They were not even playable. Who would decide to put s pin were u could not even put a ball ⛳️
Very Interesting Layout
The course is reminiscent of the courses of the past. The layout is set into the land as it stands and not forced into a property through massive excavation. Great staff and friendly folks on and off the course.
Weekend Golfer
Excellent course. Greens and Fairways. Challenging course greens.. This is a must play. Great for walking as well.
Nice greens, good value
I played this course about 9am on a Saturday as a single via GolfNow. Course conditions were good-fairways, bunkers and especially the greens all in nice condition. Pace of play was slow however, almost 5 hours, and no marshals on the course. With the $55 fee, I thought it was a good value.
Hidden GEM!
Easy to pay and play. Not crowded, we played as a 2-some and although we didn't play super fast, got done in 4 hours. GREAT greens, as good as Cowboys and Texas Star conditions except not quite a fast but rolls true. Nice fairways but bunkers could use some upgrade to nicer sand. They have the mud color like sand and it was damped when hitting out of. Not super bad though. As some reviews on here said, it could jump up and bite you if you don't know where the trouble is. First time I played and must have lost about 10 balls because of areas I didn't know were trouble but not tricky. Again, great greens and this old course is a classic with some nice characteristics. I and my golf friend said many times during the round that we would play it again. Thanks Hawk's Creek for keeping the old classic in such great conditions.
It Can Bite You
The one sure thing you can say about Hawk's Creek is that it will jump up bite you if you don't pay attention on all your shots. The rough makes it hard to get up and down if you miss either fairway or green. Greens are fast and have some ever so slight breaks.
good challenge
This course has nice well placed hazards. Not too many to make it playable and nice for an average golfer. A premium on staying in the short grass.
Golf Now mix up
Set the tee time, but get to the course and the club house asks me if golf now called to tell me they booked over a threesome. Club house let us go on time, but golf now had moved us back to 10:37 instead of our 9:21 time.
Hawks Creek
Great value and great course!!! The course was in very good condition. Challenging course but fun!!!
Very Nice Course
A wonderful layout and a very well-kept golf course! Challenging for all skill levels. The greens are true with good pace to them. Fairways are rich and the grass is beautifully trimmed. I played this course back in the 1980's when it belonged to Carswell Air Force Base.
Hawks Creek is a much better layout than the old Air Force Base course. Developers spent a ton of money improving the design and it shows. Leaving the original clubhouse is a very nice touch as well Play the course as often as you can - you will love it!
Great experience
Great first impression. Appreciated the accommodating sweet lady in the grill who made us a special diet breakfast!
Greens in great shape. Overall course in good shape. Only non-positive comment would be twosomes and threesomes sent off behind our foursome. Our pace of play was 4 hours 15 minutes. Not bad for first time on an unfamiliar course.
That was minor complaint though and would recommend this course and its staff to anyone.
Hawks creek great fun
The course was in good condition. The pace of play was great, we never had to wait to hit a shot. Drink cart came by 2 times in the middle of the day on a Wednesday. For the money it was the best value I have found.
worth the drive from Flower Mound
I played Hawks Creek and got a 706 tee time a s a single. I was paired up. Our group was fine. the course was in great shape. it helped that i was playing with guys who have played before as some holes have somewhat blind shots or knowing how much a fairway slopes is important. water comes into play often especially if you are not hitting shots crisply. i found the course to be tough but not sadistically tough. greens were tough to read for all of us. get confirmation on directions before you go...my GPS got confused. Anyway...all in all...a nie course that i will visit again.
Hawks Creek
Fund day at Hawks Creek great weather, low winds and the course is in great shape
Poor condition, but high potential
First time playing. The course design is excellent requiring a multitude of different shots to be successful. However, we played after some recent aeration. Therefore, each putt hopped multiple times on its way to the hole and approach shots that landed in the sanded pits of despair would spin in uncontrollable directions. But, even the fairways and rough were not up to the value paid for this course (See Trails of Frisco for great value). I don't like being on a bare patch when I miss the green by a few feet. Final Thought: Great course design, both hole by hole and on the greens; Poor course condition, but maybe it's a rough time right now.
$44 Disappoitment
Tees and fairways we in great shap. Traps and greens were in poor condition. Traps were hard pan and thin. Greens were over sanded and lofted approach shots were like hitting into a bunker. Pin placements were challenging but not ridiculously so. There are any number of great courses in and around Ft Worth that are an overall better value with MUCH lower green fees than Haks Creek. I'd play this course for half the price but I won't play it again for $44.
