Don't play here, yet.
At check in is not the time to be informed of the course having no practice facilities whatsoever. No range, no chipping or putting green. NOTHING!!!! I would not have played here if they'd made that known. The course is great, good layout, a bit overpriced in my opinion but whatever. I don't know a golfer who can show up to the 1st tee and hit away. So I'd wait a few months to play here, that's when the practice areas should reopen.
Great
First time to play here, course was in good shape.
Hawk's Creek...needs improvement
The course is really pretty poor condition. The greens had been recently punched & sanded, yet the staff made no mention when we booked our time. Definitely NOT worth the full price...after seeing the conditions, I would have even been happy with a 50% discount. No practice range, no practice chipping, no practice putting...sad. Save your money, or play somewhere else.
Decent golf course representing fair value for your money.
Very traditional golf course in pretty good shape. Beautiful old trees line most of the fairways. Greens in good shape. You'll have to wait a few months if you want to putt or hit balls before your round as they are building new facilities. Like most public courses, especially during the week, there was no Marshall to be seen anywhere to monitor pace of play. We played behind a " fivesome" who thought they owned the course......ridiculous.
Great rate for a great course through GN
I really enjoyed Hawk's Creek. We played a 12:30pm round on a Wednesday for $34. Greens rolled well, although pace varied around the course. The course was a in great shape, except for: #10 and no practice facility (driving range, putting, or chipping). The practice facility is currently under construction, which means no warm up, and the construction makes #10 a 90-yard par 3. Otherwise, wonderful experience. Walking could be difficult here because green to tee on three or four holes is at least 400 yards. Will be going back.
Great Afternoon Round
Had a great round at Hawks Creek at 4:33 on a Tuesday. The course was rather empty due to some recent rain, and we were able to breeze through 18 holes. Course in good shape with just a few issues on the green which are to be expected in Texas.
slow play
3 hours to play the front 9 very crowded and slow, course layout contributes to congestion and slow play, several parallel holes often waiting for incoming players to hit from your fairway.
Construction
There is a BIG project going on to renovate the practice facilities. Therefore, there is NO driving range, and NO putting green available as before. If you are interested in a warmup or practicing your putting before you start your round, I would avoid Hawks Creek until the work is finished. Seems they should have started this project much earlier so as not to impact the prime golf season.
Great course
The course is in great shape. Green are smooth and fast. Wind was blowing 30 mph made playing fun. Currently the putting greens and driving range are closed for renovations.
almost # four
ball stopped less than 2 inches from the front the cup on #10. would have been ace # 4
paired up with Doug and Wodsworth made for a great day.
Fun Course with charm
Enjoyable golf course that plays short. Reachable par 5's make for fun round. Old school club house with tasty food in the snack bar. Beverage cart running on both nines. Pace of play was good. Pro quoted $42 rate over the phone, but we booked time on golf now for $28 per person with cart.
I read the reviews......
I played Hawks Creek on 422-14 based on reviews I read on Golf Now. I believe others have this course rated at 4.3 out of a 5 rating. Honestly I just don't see it. First off, it's a pretty short course even from the gold tees with many very short par 4's. Unlike others that rated these greens I found them only okay. Fairways are starting to fill out and there is little to no rough. I did notice that many of the bunkers had not been raked. An errant shot in a bunker could result in an unfair lie due to the lack of courtesy of others. Pace of play was slowed by a number of players with poor skills and no etiquette to allow others to play through. I was surprised the course has a slope rating of 136 from the tips. I was thinking more in the 128 range. It's not a bad course but I just don't see how others rated it at 4.3. I would rate it probably 3.5 or so.
Easter golf with my boys
My two sons and I played around and Hawks Creek on Easter Sunday and had a great time. The course was not crowded at all overall it was in good condition considering the recent rains that they'd had. The only drawback was the 10th Teebox is currently under construction as well as the chipping and putting area. This is my second time playing Hawks Creek and I'll definitely put it near the top of my list.
NONE
GOOD COURSE REALLY LIKE IT, BUT EXTREMELY TIRED OF PLAYING INTO OR BEHIND TOURNAMENTS ON SATURDAYS
One of the best courses for the money.
Great course and not too expensive. Pace of play is usually good during the weekdays. Nice sand in the bunkers.
a shotmakers course
love this course. on many holes you need to leave the driver in the bag.
Great course, but practice facilities under construction
This is a great course, especially if you get it on a hot deal. Greens were true, and the course had its challenges. My only complaint is that the practice facilities are being renovated, so we could not warm up, and started the first few holes off pretty slow. They should be finished the the remodel though in a couple of months. I will definitely be back!
Nice Course, Fantastic Greens
Played here on a weekday afternoon and the pace of play was exceptional even with the amount of golfers on the course. Staff is always friendly and you can certainly sense that they are proud of the course and rightfully so. Fairways are in good shape for this time of year and the greens are in great shape. If youve never played here you should treat yourself to a round here. The clubhouse imo is one of the neatest in DFW. Should be even better after the remodel of the 10th hole and upgraded practice facilities. There is a reason members of a prestigous Country Club across the road call this course home too.
Awesome layout
I couldn't believe what great shape the course was in for this time if year. I received such a good rate on golf now I really got my money's worth. I will definitely be a regular.
