Lakeside/Meadows at Shaker Run Golf Club
About
Conveniently located less that 30 minutes from Cincinnati in the city of Lebanon, Shaker Run Golf Club offers 27 holes of championship golf. Arthur Hills designed the original 18-hole course in 1979 and the design team of Michael Hurzdan and Dana Fry added the Meadows nine 20 years later. Each nine has unique characteristics, providing three diverse 18-hole combinations when played together. The Lakeside/Meadows Course combines the nine with the most water, Lakeside naturally, and the longest nine. While it may be the lengthiest, Meadows is also the gentlest since it was added as a player-friendly complement to the other golf courses to make Shaker Run more approachable for a range of skill levels. The layout has a rolling landscape that is unique for an Ohio course, and in addition to the water there are also several strategically placed sand traps.

This place blows
This place used to be a nice facility. Unfortunately now it's more suited for grazing herds of goats than anything. Weeds, terrible tee boxes, bumpy pock marked greens, no sand in the bunkers, dead trees and shrubs, uncut grass. Looks like it's about to go out of business. When we were there the Pro Shop was closed and you had to pay at the bar.
A total joke.
Disappointed
This place used to be so great a few years ago. Course layout is awesome! But the course is just flat out in bad shape. Dandelions everywhere and lots of grass that needed cut/tended too. Very disappointing for the price, even with a golf now deal. We still payed $48 a player. They're charging same prices they did when they were a top 10 course in the state. My local city courses are in better shape...
Thanks for leaving your review, we regret to hear you didn't see good value in playing at Shaker Run for the price. We are working hard to make this the best Shaker Run yet. Hope to see you again.
What Happened
We played this course last year and thought the course was in really good shape with a nice layout. This year not so much. the greens and fairways were great but most of the other areas were un-mowed all over course. Seemed almost like the course is in financial trouble ... short staffed, closed pro shop (paid at the grill), uncleaned carts ...ect
Not on our short list especially at that high of a rate
Thanks for playing at Shaker Run GC, sorry to hear your experience was not up to par with your previous visits. Hope to see you again, we are working hard to bring things up to par and exceed your expectations.
Confusing
First let me list the pros of Shaker Run. The price was reasonable, staff was friendly, nice layout. Now the cons. No directions where to check in. No yardage markers on course. No water on course for golfer to drink. Got lost several times because therec are no signs . We weren't the only ones. Two different carts came up to us asking for directions. Finally no signs to where the cart drop off is. Again our experience would have improved if management would correct these inexpensive problems. Plus it took us 5 hours to play. For a twosome this is uncalled for.
Thanks for playing at Shaker Run GC, thank you for noticing our pros and for expressing your concerns too. We will have our staff and management informed to correct these small, yet crucial hiccups. We hope you enjoyed the course.
Way behind other course late March
Golf shop closed until April 7th. Onlly food availabe were hot dogs. Bunkers are untreated , greens haven't been rolled, almost seems grounds crew are on strike. Only paid $10 through golf now. Would not pay $35-$45 in this condition. Played 2 weeks in a row thought conditions would improve 2nd week .. they didn't.
We appreciate your feedback thanks for playing Shaker Run so early in the season. We understand the conditions were not as pristine as you might have expected, we are working towards the best Shaker Run possible. We hope to see you again later this season.
Excellent layout
Always love playing Shaker. The setting is the best anywhere. Fun course.
Awesome! So glad you loved the course and had fun at Shaker Run. We look forward to seeing you back for more!
Easter Golf
Great special course was in great shape.
Glad you loved the course conditions! See you back real soon, at Shaker Run!
Early Season
Course was in good shape for early season. Sand was pushed to outside of traps to dry out traps. Assume they will be adding new sand soon. Did not tell us pin placement and could not determine after 3-4 holes so our guess was it was a random pin placement.
Thanks for your review, we appreciate the feedback it is important to us. We will inform our staff regarding the sand traps, we are working towards the best Shaker Run possible in the 2016 season. Can't wait to see you again!
First impression is everything
I will not be returning, I played Woodland and Lakeside 3/23/16. We got off to a terrible start with the guy "running" the place when he showed up 10 mins AFTER our tee time. A majority of the tee boxes were a joke and I feel like a fool for paying green fees considering the condition they were in, I know its March but they should have given me a cpl bucks to put up with their conditions, in saying that the fairways and rough were legit. My biggest issue was honestly how nice of a layout and surrounding area the course had but their were so many things that interfered with my round. Not having any rangers really back slowed down our back 9, distance markers would have really helped in club selection and there were no layouts of the hole you could look at before teeing off. I was really disappointed and was not impressed by the lack of effort from the club house to the bunkers. Golf carts boogied tho, definitely had a hemi

Great conditions in a monsoon
Shaker Run is working her way back to a great course. Course was in pretty good conditions for an early spring round. The day we played it pour and was cold. The balls still rolled on the soaked fairways. The new nine's traps were in poor shape but the original front nine had nice sand. I was happy to see Shaker Run making it back to being a spectacular golf course.
Great! Thank you for playing Shaker Run Golf Club and for leaving your review - glad you've noticed some of our improvements here at the course. We look forward to seeing you in the 2016 season. It's going to be a good one!
Really nice course
The guy in the clubhouse for super friendly...golf course with beautiful and we had a blast!!!!
Great! So glad you had an enjoyable time Garry, we appreciate you playing the course so glad you loved the scenery and had a good time. Can't wait to see you back again for more!
Beautiful Layout
Great course, bad conditions. Unfortunately, Christmas Eve started by a course cancelling our tee time. Luckily I got us on at Shaker Run. The course was wet(we had 2 days of rain ~2.5"), but the 65* weather was fantastic. All 3 of us played well overall, considering we played lift/clean/place. I would love to play here in the mid-summer when you can get some roll out. If you like a course with "a lot" of water this ones for you. The course has some magnificent holes.
Great! We're so happy to hear you got to play Shaker Run on or around Christmas time. We really appreciate the kind words and your review. We hope to see you again once the weather clears. Looking forward to your return visit!
Lot of fun
For December, the course was in great shape. Every hole was challenging and different.
Awesome! Glad you found Shaker Run to be a challenge and that you enjoyed the course. We can't wait to see you back once the weather improves in 2016!
No complaints for mid-November golf
When my friend booked the tee time, I was aware of a season-long litany of complaints that conditions had really slipped at Shaker, so I had some trepidation as to what we might find. Having played our round, I think it only fair to report that those fears were largely unfounded, particularly for this time of year. Conditions were actually quite good for November golf. Greens on the Lakeside nine had been more recently aerated and still had a significant amount of gridding, but the Woodlands nine must have been done first, because conditions on that side were actually quite playable. The fairways seemed fine and ground cover by leaves looked to have been well-tended to (either by the course or Mother Nature, or both). Topping it off with a $21 greens fee o a layout as strong as this and we felt like we got great value, which is nice to be able to say and isn't necessarily something I would say all the time of Shaker during mid-season play.
We appreciate you leaving your review on Shaker Run and we're so glad you loved the course and your round this fall! Looks like you got a great deal and enjoyed it so we are happy to hear this. Thanks for your helpful insight on the course, we are working hard every day to make this the best Shaker Run it can be. See you real soon and happy holidays!
It should be better
The Meadows course is neglected. The bunkers on Lakeside and Meadows are not maintained. The greens were recovering from aerification, but was not posted on Golfnow when purchasing the tee time. The greens had not been cut for a few days. The course management does not give the group finishing the ninth hole the right of way to begin immediately on the 10th tee. Choosing to call the course three separate nine hole courses is confusing and causes long waits in the middle of a round. There is nothing more frustrating than having a new group cut in front of you on the 10th tee with management's direction to do so. GPS yardage on Meadows is inaccurate.
Thanks for leaving your feedback on Shaker Run Golf Club. We have this all noted and will audit these suggestions with our staff here. Thanks for looking out for us. We are glad that you like the course though and will be working to improve Shaker Run for your next round. Come back and see us soon!
Deteriorating quickly - very sad for what was a great course
Growing up in Middletown and regularly playing shaker run I was always amazed at how well maintained and how well the course played. I felt the same even with the housing development that is now present, up to about two years ago. I brought an out of town coworker to play after bragging on the course in August 2015. What a DISAPPOINTMENT AND EMBARASSMENT! One fairway actually had NO grass, the tee boxes were in horrific shape, and then to reach the greens to find traps with no sand, standing water (with weeds actually growing through the water) I wanted to ask for my money back. Needless to say I won't be going back. No ahve had numerous conversations with others who have visited since that came away with the same feeling; once a GREAT course that has been neglected and should be shut down until it is restored to its former status. Pics were taken to substantiate these claims.
Great Value
Golf Now is the ONLY place to book your tee times. Played Shaker Run for $18. ( incl. the fee ).
We played Meadows ( the newest 9 ) and Lakeside. Both were in great condition.
The ONLY issue we had, there were lots of leaves on many of the greens. Understandable somewhat this time of year.. Shaker has lots of trees.. lol
Regardless, GREAT value.
Thanks
Don
Awesome! We're so glad you found a great deal on your tee time and that led to you coming out and playing in the beautiful fall scenery at Shaker Run! We are working hard to keep the course in great shape for your next round. Come back soon!
Great shape but slow play.
Started at 10:30 took 5:20 to finish. Course in great shape, greens quick and smooth. Just takes a little too long to get around.
Very cool! Thanks for playing at Shaker Run. We appreciate your feedback happy to hear the greens were up to par. Hope to see you again soon!
Shaker Run
Had a great time . Course was in good condition. Friendly staff. Great prices . Highly recommended
Thanks for the recommendation! We are happy to hear you loved the course and got a good deal. We can't wait to see you on your next round!
Enjoyed the experience
There's been a lot of reviews claiming this course isn't what it used to be and that may be true but it's still really nice. This was my first time playing here and I'll be back. The greens, bunkers and tee boxes were fine for the most part. Fairways were a bit harsh in areas but considering the time of year you really can't expect perfection. My only real complaint is the confusion in playing the Meadows course. It doesn't match the "GPS caddie" app on my iPhone and is difficult to navigate unless you've played it before. The Monday morning pace of play was great. I finished 18 in about 3 hours 15 minutes (even after wandering around lost for a bit). Staff was friendly and helpful but I can't comment on food and beverage as I didn't visit concessions. Carts were in good shape and ran fine.
Awesome! We love our fans! Thanks for playing Shaker Run we're happy to hear you enjoyed the course and the scenery. We love it too! We hope to see you on your next round, when you check in let us know exactly how we can make your round the best it can be. See you soon!
We regret to hear your experience at Shaker Run was not all it could have been . We will inform our staff and crews to address the concern here. We hope to see you again real soon.
