About
Shaker Run Golf Club offers 27 holes of championship golf that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The Woodlands/Lakeside Course is the club's original layout designed by Arthur Hills. It was later joined by the gentler Meadows nine. Since opening in 1979, the Woodlands/Lakeside combination has come to be known as one of the best courses in the state. It features challenging elevation changes that are rare for a golf course in Ohio as well as several doglegs and numerous sand traps strategically placed throughout. As the names would suggest, there is also an abundance of water and trees on the course. The fifth hole on the Lakeside nine is Shaker Run's signature hole. The tee box sits nearly 100 feet above the hole and plays into the prevailing winds. It's tricky but if you play to the right of the green, scoring par is definitely possible.

Beautiful and scenic course
Great course. Great pace of play. Nice course layout.
Good and Bad Both
Paid to play Woodlands and Lakeside. Was told by Starter could not play Lakeside HAD to play Meadows. Lakeside condition just fine, very enjoyable. Meadows was terrible. Traps washed out, greens full of fungus or whatever, and not at all comparable. Then on 9th hole Meadows stopped by Clubhouse Attendant and told "You played the wrong 9"! I said you are correct, we wanted to play Lakeside and YOUR Starter told us NO! A big disappointment in that we wanted to play original Shaker Run. Be SURE you get to play the routing you pay for. I should NOT have been so accommodating to Starter!!!
Also, made the Turn about Noon and only ONE(1) poor person working Bar / Lunch Counter! WHY?

Bad management
Played Shaker on Father's Day. It was a hot day, we teed off at 740am and course staff was changing hole locations while we were approaching greens. Another member of our group arrived at 640am and no one from the course was here yet. People standing outside waiting. No water on the course, no trash cans and no cart girls for these dads couldn't spend their money. We saw a course attended who had a water cooler and he yelled at us when we asked if there was water. We had to drive our carts over to him to get some. Bad customer service. We tried to get bar service at the turn and the bartender just ignored us so we left without drinks or food. The course is in good shape and its ashame that ownership doesn't care to provide a positive experience. Won't be coming back!

Great layout and great condition!
First time playing Shaker Run, we drove from northern Kentucky to try it out and we were not disappointed! Great staff and great course. Will play again!

May 2016 Update
Under new management? First, the course: for May, the greens were excellent. Course was in very good shape for early in the season.
The thing that stood out was the staff. The new starter was genuinely friendly and helpful. The kid in the pro shop was also friendly.

Great Value and Scenery
Hopped on this course on a whim while visiting my brother who lives in the area. For the price, this place is a steal. Excellent fairways and greens, well designed, and amazing views around the lake on the "Lakeside" 9. Also played the Woodland 9. My only complaint is that we had a lot of lost balls that were clearly just a couple yards into the rough because the rough was so thick - rough needed to be maintained better in a lot of areas. Also may be worth buying the yardage book because there are a decent amount of blind landing areas off the tee and most of the time we ended up being in hip-deep grass without knowing it was there. Would definitely play here again for the value.

Course has great character.
This course is a great layout that makes you play your way around the course and not just grip it and rip it! For the most part the course is in great shape. However they need to get some sand in their bunkers. On some holes they are awful. That small bit of attention will get this course back to where it belongs. As usual the staff is outstanding! Thanks for the great rounds two Saturdays in a row.

Some neglect
I recommend playing wood/lakeside.. The meadows course is very neglected, almost looks like it's not on the same property..tall weeds in the fairways, and zero trash cans on the whole side.. If you can get it cheap then It's fine.. But anything over 30 bucks not worth it

Best course in Cincinnati / Dayton area
We played the original 18 on Memorial Day. Beautiful picturesque scenery on every hole. Course was challenging and in pristine condition. Staff was friendly and courteous.

Better shape than used to be
We had not played Shaker in a couple of years because of the quality of the course was terrible and the cost was unreasonable for what you got. We were pleasantly surprised when we played, and definitely will be back.

Original 18 is always a pleasure to play
Greens are fast and in excellent condition. Rough is high and difficult to hit out of.

Nothing in pro shop
This place has a great layout but is very poorly managed. I needed to buy some balls and gloves but the pro shop is completely empty!

Great Shape
Last reviewers need to realize they were playing in early APRIL... Good ole Shaker Run is doing great and the course is blooming nicely! The greens and fairways are lush, cut nicely, and rolling well. The Tees need a little work, but they look prett good too. The bunkers are good given the rain we had last week. All in all the course is in better shape than I have seen for a few years now. Glad to see the work being done, and we look forward to coming back!

Grass need cut
To much weed all over the course. Need some more TLC

This place blows
This place used to be a nice facility. Unfortunately now it's more suited for grazing herds of goats than anything. Weeds, terrible tee boxes, bumpy pock marked greens, no sand in the bunkers, dead trees and shrubs, uncut grass. Looks like it's about to go out of business. When we were there the Pro Shop was closed and you had to pay at the bar.
A total joke.
We regret to hear your experience at Shaker Run was not all it could have been . We will inform our staff and crews to address the concern here. We hope to see you again real soon.
Disappointed
This place used to be so great a few years ago. Course layout is awesome! But the course is just flat out in bad shape. Dandelions everywhere and lots of grass that needed cut/tended too. Very disappointing for the price, even with a golf now deal. We still payed $48 a player. They're charging same prices they did when they were a top 10 course in the state. My local city courses are in better shape...

What Happened
We played this course last year and thought the course was in really good shape with a nice layout. This year not so much. the greens and fairways were great but most of the other areas were un-mowed all over course. Seemed almost like the course is in financial trouble ... short staffed, closed pro shop (paid at the grill), uncleaned carts ...ect
Not on our short list especially at that high of a rate
